Today we sit at 12-4 and I don't think that many of us felt that the Knicks would be this good. However, it seems like many here are having a hard time adjusting to the rebirth of winning. With that being said, are you a beleiver?
Yes - We're legit and on our way to 50+ wins and a top 3 seed! Heck we may even finish with the 1 seed.
No - The team is playing over their heads. We hoist up too many 3's and our rebounding is suspect.
Unsure - I'm still suffering from battered Knicks fan syndrome. I wan't to believe that we're legit but keep expecting the sky to fall.

Micky Dolenz?

Take the last train to Flatbush
and I'll meet you at the station
wear your white and black hat
and I'll wear my N*yets nation

Don't talk Melo
Oh, no, no, no
Oh, no, no, no

'Cause 12-4 is just too boring
And I must see Stat again
He'll screw up what's been done now
No more the threes will drop like rain

Don't talk Melo
Oh, no, no, no
Oh, no, no, no

And I'm not sure
If I'm ever coming home

I'm starting to feel the same way about Dolan as I did Steinbrenner - if and only if they stay far away from team operations are they good owners. Dolan has definitely given his people chances to succeed... I guess the big difference between George and Jimmy is the former always surrounded himself with quality minds and people

Realize you are being sarcastic. However the tiring and common misconception on this board is that if you are optimistic about the Knicks and Melo, you are somehow aligned with Dolan or think he has done a good to great job. He mostly has not. But perhaps Dolan is finally learning to stay out of the way with a good GM/coach combo.

I'm a believer since the beginning of this year as Woodson stresses D.......and good D keeps you in games even if your O is not running smoothly. Did not think the record would be this good at this point however.

I totally didn't read that as sarcasm, maybe you understand some history here that I don't.

At the end of the day, 12-4 is a fine result and it's a results-driven business. Now, 72-10 don't mean a thing without the ring, but I can't fast-forward to the future, we have to play the season first and then we'll hope for the best when the time comes.

The hatred of Melo and what he represents (or doesn't represent) runs deep for some on thses boards. I suspect that even a championship would not diminish the hatred...as there might still be a sour taste and lament that the large quantity of homegrown middling talent that was given up in the Melo deal was not on hand.

you have no idea what your talking about. Who hates Melo and why?

All I have ever said is he's failed miserably in the playoffs year after year and doesnt have the individual awards (1st/2nd/3rd all NBA, all defense, MVP votes, scoring titles etc) to validate the greatness claimed by a whole lot of posters here who joined around the same time 'straightshot' joined.

He's played well in this league for a decade, this year is more of the same. Like that one Denver team that advanced this Knick team is loaded as well... veteran backcourt, defensive bigs, excellent role players, well coached. What of any of this is suprise?

I predicted 50 wins. They are on pace for 60. Good!

Hate?

To me Melo = ARod (minus the awards). Lots more headlines than wins. HOWEVER, ARod had one great postseason. His #s are terrible, his contract is terrible and his time is done. However for one Oct he did was a star is supposed to do and carried the Yanks with monster HR after monster HR. It was an amazing run and I was happy for him and it was great to watch.

Im just waiting for Melo to provide this fan with those sorts of moments. Maybe this will be the year right?

I actually am somewhat shocked the 'battered Knick fan syndrome' option isn't higher than 25 percent. I voted 'yes' but I certainly do suffer from BKFS. Maybe I'm denial about my denial?

Hopefully this will be the year now that the Knicks have some resemblance of an nba playoff roster. TD/Bibby/Turiaf don't cut it

We can make a noise but will eventually fall to athletic power and superior talent in playoffs.

obviously you need to spend more time on the Carmelo for MVP or Carmelo is a natural leader threads. Reading 10-15 pages of one of those should change this snarky and negative thinking around.

The way we're playing -- the defense, the passing, the taking care of the ball -- I don't think that will go away. I expect 50-plus wins and for us to be one of the top 2 or 3 seeds in the East.

What I'm unsure of is whether we're good enough to have a real legit shot against the Heat (or OKC) in a 7-game series. Can we keep hitting 3's at a crazy rate? Can we improve our rebounding? Can we score when the Heat dig in on defense? I'm still skeptical on those measures. So, I believe we're a top-tier team. I don't believe (yet -- let's see what Amar'e and Shump bring) that we're a legit title contender.

Pretty good progress, nonetheless. When the season started, I figured there were 3 super teams (LA included -- Hah) and that if things went right, we had a shot of being right there in the next tier. Now I believe we are and will be in the next tier and have a chance of improving to the point where we push our way into the truly elite.

Athletic power and superior talent are no match for our outrageous depth, superior head coach, tangible New York home court advantage and secret weapon... Dave Hopla's Death Ray.

I have been trying to tell the homers there is very little hate on the board but there is a push back against the fables and spritualism that exists.

Kicking down Lin, Gallo, Meda, Walsh without recollection of the details AT THE TIME THEY WERE HERE and to mearly look back with pure hindsight and feeling elevated exuberance over others is not cool to some of the "Somberites" out there.

Im sure if every bad game by an ex knick player, coach, GM is not bought up im sure every good game won't be thrown off in others face.

Most of us are focused on the team thats on the court.

The ignore button is always a welcome choice!

I am a believer in Woodson so far. I think he has done very well with the roster - but I still think we are offensively challenged - Maybe Amare helps that?

Do I believe the K Ickes are now championship contenders? No not yet - I think it's too early. They have to show they can do this consistently throughout the season then over multiple seasons with continuity. We have been too bad for too long a fifth if a season don't mean much to me.

TKF on Melo ::....he is a punk, a jerk, a self absorbed out of shape, self aggrandizing, unprofessional, volume chucking coach killing playoff loser!!

When we believe in the golden calf, we get sent into exile for 40 years.

Its time to go to the promised land, time to go home.

Its been 40 years. We were choosen to suffer for our starphuch ways.

We must stop the starphuching!

Yeah, there be haters, Linities, battered knicks, SaberNerds, extra melos, Homers. Most are more than one and everything in between.

I believe in this team.
I believe things look brand new when you path blaze.
I believe you'll never see the sun if you keep your head firmly panted in the browner grass of past days.
I believe praying for the best for 12 years and getting it in the 13th is always sweeter than being bitter for 13 and being wrong once.
I believe this is how it felt to be a bulls fan before they won 60, piston fan before they won a title and a sixers fan before they made a finals.
Even in varying degrees of success, I believe those fans felt great in the moment, and in this moment........
I BELIEVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just look at the standings and it appears we have the best record in the east..I haven't said that since 1994..18 yrs ago.

This team is an absolute contender, no question about it..
