Habits will have set in by then. Shooting deep perimeter shots as a first option is a habit not an adaptive style of play nor one that leans to mixing styles. It's not like we were ever fine tuned with Amar'e. Amar'e will have his knee on his mind when he plays too.

Shooting deep perimeter shots is not the first option. the shots are coming from plays, deep penetration, drives and kicks and more. This team rarely looks out of control and most of the time are taking shots they wanted to take. It's not a chuck fest out there. I've already seen plenty of times already this season if we get cold from outside Melo & Felton makes a effort to drive and get to the foul line. We have a coach that makes common sense adjustments.

The team is running this style to shoot the 3ball, ISO Melo, or throw lobs..... not layups, midrange shots, shots off screens, backdoors, pts in the paint, from the post, from the elbow....etc etc. Our players stay perimeter the majority of the game. It is a chuckfest it just doesn't look like it because we're making the shots wait till they stop falling. It's the very reason we have big leads yet teams are never truly out of the game.

Not true at all. Melo, Chandler & Felton get plenty of lay up opportunities. Melo & Felton get plays called for elbow jumpers.

One of the big differences of the team in comparison from the past is when we get a big lead we keep it besides a couple of games. Look at our Margin of Victory average and that knocks your argument out the water. When teams get down 10 to us it never seems like they will come back unlike previous seasons. We play Defense so it discourages teams from coming back. How many games has Melo sat out a majority of final quarter. Your views seem to be very cloudy.

Nah. We just play chuck and duck ball. Woodson is one dimensional, a one trick pony!

LOL we got some wild cowboys on this board..just spitting out Barkleyisms. The most efficient offense in the league is a chuckfest now..riiiigggghhht

The Knicks shoot 28 free throws a game and 20.7 free throws. That number should never be higher. Jason Kidd is injured and will likely be in and out of the lineup.

They need to limit some of there deep balls and continue to be aggressive.

No one said it's not sustainable but the posts leads one to believe that it's gonna bottom out. We have great shooters shooting these shots. so if it dips from 40% to 35% is that gonna cost us wins when our average margin is 8+. To it's definitely looking for a negative. We aren't winning because of our 3 point shooting. I would understand the logic if our wins were based solely on hot 3 point shooting. We Defend and We don't turn the ball over. That's why we are winning and winning easily most of the time. I don't think we need to adjust anything until it's not working. What's the point of making changes towards anticipation of not making open shots?? Defeatist attitude.

Amare will end up taking around 15shots a game in the paint which will take away some of the 3 pt attempts.

I'll take that all season.

yup, yup. Not like they are just jacking up bad or contested 3's. They are taking good wide open shots which, I feel confident they can knock down.

Knicks are forced to play this way. We dont have a legitimate option to score inside besides chandlers putbacks for now. Melo isnt big enough to stay inside. They have to take perimeter shots otherwise they will get blocked and turn the ball over

It's not sustainable; nor is the .750 winning percentage. This is a very good team and I think a winning percentage of at least .600 is sustainable for the remaining games though.

You win or lose individual games; the average isn't the only factor to look at. The team has had two single-digit victories and two more by 10 points.

Yeah we're doing some weaves and circling out of screens towards the perimeter...mixed with PNR play

You Could Look It Up

33 per cent success from three point range is equivalent to 50 per cent shooting from inside the arc.

As a team We are shooting 42 per cent from three. Cool.

Think about it.

if we are to be a good playoff team we need to force turnovers and make points off of them. and our primary ballhandlers need to get to the line a bunch. that means, god help me, that melo and smith and felton need to draw more fouls and convert free throws.

melo 7.3 should be 10-11 57.7TS probably his peak and not going to get it done in the playoffs
smif 2.7 should be 6-7 52.2TS not going to get it done in playoffs
felt 1.5 should be 5-6 50.3TS not going to get it done in playoffs

knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

I don't know what happens when those numbers start to decline -- and it's hard to imagine they won't (particularly for Brewer and Felton). Do we keep playing the same way, and just score a little less? Do we stop shooting quite so many?

If we want some things to worry about, it'd be this, our incredibly low turnover rate (also perhaps not sustainable) and our weak rebounding, which I fear is something we aren't likely to turn around with the guys we got.

This and what happens when Amare comes back are my two biggest worries. We seem very reliant on 3-pointers; when they're falling we look practically unbeatable but when they aren't we don't look very good. I'm hoping to see more posting and driving, especially from Melo, in the near future.

Now the joy of my world is in Zion How beautiful if nothing more Than to wait at Zion's door I've never been in love like this before Now let me pray to keep you from The perils that will surely come

can't prognosticate as it's too early to spot trends and i haven't seen the other teams enough. you guys want to spooge over a 12-4 record. didn't they warn you that spooging makes you myopic?

amare is a whole other story but if it's true he'd be willing to come off the bench that would be a pretty big deal. if so i look forward to seeing prigioni and stat working pick and roll.
