Woody is not going to take Kidd out of the starting unit for Shump. Shump will likely take JR's role as first guy off the bench.

A second unit of Amare, Shump, Pablo and Smith is pretty dynamic.

A second unit of Amar'e, Kidd, Novak and Smith is even more dynamic. I am not a huge fan of Pablo. This is the long term plan for the record because Shump needs to get healthy 110% above anything else. After that, driving Kidd into the ground isn't going to work and he will get exposed as a starting shooting guard. We are better off having Shumpert in the SL for his defense and ability to score.

What is your definition of anytime soon? They are both expected back in January and STAT is even expected back around Christmas.

During our losses, it was the defense that let us down. We scored enough pts to beat the Rockets and Mavs but we couldn't hold them to our season defensive scoring average. Had we done that, we probably win.
relax we know the defense is the most important but having extra offense against teams like the heat and the thunder is good to have

If you want to compete with the Heat and Thunder on the offensive end, its going to take more than ball movement to beat them. Last I checked, the Heat and Thunder have 2-3 elite scorer's on their rosters. We have 1. If we resally want to have a chance to compete with those teams, it'll beon the defensive end

Really?

That is just speculation. The clock only starts when they hit the court.

Great Expectations

If Amar'e makes it back in time for the first round of The NBA Playoffs it would be awesome.

I would be overjoyed if Shump is 100 per cent healthy for Summer League.

Once again you are not listening. I said a few times that defense is the priority but ball movement is important

Who You Gonna Believe, Some Beat Reporter or Big Time Danny Whelan?

IrishKnicksFan - the sooner you accept that The Answer Man kicked it with Mike Saunders, the quicker you will learn to trust him more that some doctored-down "injury report" than the press feeds on.

Target dates, like Trix, are for kids. The next time Shump dunks a basketball, and lands safely without feeling anything in his joints, will be his first in over a year. Shump played through pain all of last season. Take it slow young buck, take it slow.

The NBA schedule is an unforgiving place for the fragile.

IMO, the Knicks shouldn't rush to play Shump this year. Let him recover from his knee injury then let him take Ronnie Brewer's place in the rotation next season. He's an important piece for the future but depth is a luxury the Knicks have so there's no need to rush.

Misterearl, it has already been video documented and posted on here that Shumpert has dunked and safely landed on his feet. I don't know what you are rambling about.

Secondly, chances of Shumpert playing in anymore Summerleagues are nil and none.

Iman Shumpert is one awkward landing away from ruining a promising career. Knees are complicated and full of drama. No two players are the same so te whole projected return thing is just for entertainment purposes. Rehab, just to walk pain free, is a b#tch. Playing every other night in the NBA is a recipe for an unhappy ending.

Looks like Rubio just got cleared for practice, but even then he's still probably a few weeks away. Rubio's probably due to play sometime in mid December, but probably 15 minutes a game or so to start.

Shumpert being cleared to practice is usually the first hurdle to getting some sign that he'll be back soon. Doesn't look like he'll be cleared to practice until maybe January or February. Around the All Star break is a realistic date to see him in game action.

If Shump steps on court after the All Star break, it will be abeautiful thing. Enough time to get acclimated to the team and fresh legs for the playoffs.

We need Amare's easy baskets when the 3 isn't falling. And we need his rebounding at the 4

Rubio is due back in December. Will be cleared for some practice this week. Same injury as Shump but a month sooner.

Is DRose due back in January too?

Rubio Don't Dunk Like Shump

gunsnewing wrote:Rubio is due back in December. Will be cleared for some practice this week. Same injury as Shump but a month sooner.

The injury is only the same in nomenclature only. Physically, Rubio and Shump are nothing alike. Rubio is thin as a rail and built like a middle school kid. Shump is muscularly built like an NFL safety.

Big difference in degree of difficulty.
