It occurred to me only this summer why JDolan doesnt want to knock down and rebuild. JDolan doesnt care about championships, he cares about money. People have been saying it for years but I never wanted to believe them. Dolan has transformed this team into the Utah Jazz of the East. Perpetually teasing the fans with making the playoffs but never winning a championship, forget about even sniffing a dynasty. As long as Dolan can keep the seats filled during the season and maybe a few games into the playoffs, he is happy. He is unwilling to take the "dog behind the shed" and bearing some losing seasons because it would mean some lost revenue.

In case you haven't notice Dolan did try the rebuiding mode, it doesn't work..1 out of every 10 teams have a successful rebuilding project, yet only 1 team (spurs with duncun, parker and manu) have yielded a championship..

Now look at some of the teams that have won championships over the course of 10 yrs..miami,boston,lakers,dallas,spurs.

Those teams were all primarily veteren teams with maybe 1 0r 2 young studs, I personally would never rebuild if Im an owner..

The nets have a solid competitive team, but they are not contenders, atleast not this yr and not with the make up of that roster, it still needs tweaking.

The knicks have 3 guys on there teams with rings (wallace, kidd, Tyson) they have the kind of leadership that you dream of having in the playoffs. That ceiling barkley is talking about, it's base on THE BIG "IF" word..If so and so can play up to his potential, every team has potential, very few live up to it. gallo has the potential to be the best shooter, wilson chandler has the potential to be a heck of a player, yet 3 years in the league and there far to inconsistant..

A real owner doesn't rebuild, he gets players that complement each other, yes it's a young mans game, but after the 82 regular season games, do these young players have the mentality to shift gears correctly.

OKC being a prime example of what I'm talking about, you remember the previous yr when westbrook was accuse of shooting to much in the playoffs (which he was) and last yr harden disappeared altogether.

what about derrick rose playoff runs (outside of last season) or melo's one done yrs in denver, or labrons short comings in cleveland, or KG's one done playoff yrs in mini..young super stars with no real guides, just marginal young talent around them for yrs..

Woodson knows your team isn't winning anything in the playoffs with young stars.

BTW if the nets lose any of there starters do to injury do they have the depth to over come it..

You make a great point here, but you are basing your argument on the wrong premise that I am referring to a young team. I believe a team can have some young guys but it isnt necessary by any means. The teams you mentioned on top were built in the very way I described, that is they started with draft acquisitions and surrounded their acquisitions with top tier free agent signings to get championships.

Miami drafted Wade and surrounded him with free agent signings of Shaq, Walker
Boston drafted Pierce and surrounded him with free agent signings of Garnett, Allen
Lakers (draft acquisition) Bryant and surrounded him with free agent signings of Shaq, Rice
Dallas drafted Dirk and surrounded him with free agent signings of Kidd, Marion
Spurs drafted Duncan and Parker and surrounded them with free agent signings of Jackson, Rose

So you pretty much proved my point for me. The reason this was able to work for these teams was because signing those draft acquisitions under their Bird rights allowed them the flexibility to be able to sign max contract additional help.

You both make good agruements but Subzero, you have to admit that LUCK playes a HUGE role in drafting and aquiring players via trade and signings....and in the case of Boston and Lakers (aquiring Kobe) there was some shady business going on behind close doors.

And don't forget the reason the Spurs were so successful, so quickly, when Duncan was drafted was because of a VERY HEALTHY Robinson playing the Center position after a year off.

Dallas would have won a Championship much sooner if management didn't undervalue Nash

Nalod: 2 days later father, I still have dirty thoughts...

Father: Yes my son, please continue.....

Nalod: The electric atmosphere of Knicks-N*ts game was appealing

Father: Telling, you said Knicks first my son......

Nalod: Yes, but I was, was....

Father: Rooting for the N*ts?

Nalod: Not rooting against them. I wanted the Knicks to win, wanted Nets to win....Im confused!

Father: Do you go to the "N*ts" church? Did you confess there?

Nalod: No, not yet at least!

Father: Its ok, your exploring.

Nalod: What about you? Have you ever......I mean, uh..?

Father: Fondle the choir boys genitalia? Firm young buttocks?

Nalod: Uh, no, just think about the N*ts!

Father: Oh, yeah, well, yeah, but I am married to the Knicks. I gave my vows!

Nalod: What about Dolan?

Father: Yes, that is a touchy subject, Uh, I mean a sticky one, Uh I meant to say, well......

Nalod: See what I mean?

Father: Well Dolan is a fallen angel of sorts, he means well, but he is challenged, he owns the team but does not own its soul.

Nalod: Yes, yes I see.....Please go on....

Father: Yes, he has bought to earth the darkest of days with the deception of Isiah and his minion Marbles but we have hope with current group!

Nalod: Is Melo really the one? or a false prophet?

Father: Melo is who you make to be. Faith has no bounds, no limits.

Nalod: Was Lin the one?

Father: The Hebrews once cast aside the son of god but even he moved on. There are those whom believe Lin was as such.

Nalod: You really don't answer things do you?

Father: I am a "homer", I see things thru the prism of my knick view. I don't seek truth, I seek only love from the knicks.

Nalod: So when the "elders" return to play, you believe?

Father: yes, Kidd, Camby, KT, and Pablo are great ones. Sheed will Lead us!

Nalod: Really?

father: Age is only a state of mind.

Nalod: how will we know?

Father: Its shall be written!

Nalod: Where, where??

Father: in the standings!

Nalod: Brilliant! Hey what about my dirty feelings for the Nets?

Father: Its ok to be a follower, but you can only believe in one team!

Nalod: It was a real good game, I wanted the knicks to win! yet I was not upset by the outcome!

Father: Do you get upset when the lose?

Nalod: Not anymore. I won't sit for 2.5 hours and let the outcome manipulate my emotions. I enjoy a good game.

Father: then you are still firm in your belief and secure with where you fit in the church. Its ok to like the N*ts, but one day there will be a great conflict and you might have to choose.

Nalod: Yes, I understand!

Father: What about the Bobcats?

Nalod: I visit their church often. Its a nice place, but im not "moved".

Father: What about the Celtics?

Nalod: Damn them to hell the heretics!

Father: There you go, you'll be grand my son, just grand!

It takes a certain level of intellegence to inject self satirical humor into a fictional conversation for entertainment purpose.

If you can't make fun of yourself, try not to of others.

One more time for the simple: I follow the Nets, I like the Nets, I have a history with brooklyn and the NY NETs. I am a 40 year fan of the knicks.

When that Changes I'll let you know.

Until then Im enjoying the season and the UK bantor. This is entertainment, not a way of life.

Dont confuse this nets era & francise with the ny nets Dr J version despite the 2 aba titles.
Those nets was real good nba type good

I know few folks who r NJ nets fans & not all of the accept bklyn nets move.

These new nets will be good! & have a brand new fan base with a tad of old fans
But instead of nets owner thrashing nyk verbally in offseason or nets guards proclaiming
They better than knicks, fine

Nets need to establish themselves 1st just like our knicks. Neither team done a thang yet
Beside the earlier season nets yapping at the knicks ballclub.

Plus this thing about brooklyn my home from where i am from is too much about bklyn
Moreso than actually about nba basketball.

I am nj homed knick fan who states brooklyn had tons of credibility long long ago
Long before the boasty Nets owner & Jaz-Z brought a nba team here.

Nets need to stop taking credit for brooklyn, brooklyn is fine always has been
They need to do that as much as chatty owner need to shutup about turning many
Knick fans soon into Brooklyn nets fans!

We know both nyk & nets are now good teams. ,
Amen !

Its Bernards confessional and no need for all to jump in with their own value statement of Nets love.

We get it.

One in 7 americans have ties to brooklyn. The marketing of the rebrand is very good. Basketball has great Urban roots and most expansion the last 30 years has been in newer cities with little "roots". Nets encapsuled the Urban feel of a team and the cred of brooklyn. Many teams have built arenas back in the cities but don't get a chance to reboot a brand in to a new image. Its really quite interesting.

Soon it all settles into its natural place and the hype will die down.

and yeah it all gets settled on the court.

Forget the hype because as soon as the game started we got treated to a playoff type atmosphere and game. Knicks and "Brooklyn" fans all in one building.

I agree, there are many "Brooklyn" fans but not necessarily "Net" fans. As a basketball fan I just enjoyed the game.

*Amen i say to you
agree with everything you mentioned

I am very proud of brooklyn too

But its nice both teams are good at same time of move.

Didnt like the yapping of Nets owner picking on MSG/Knicks. I aint no dolan fan and cant stand them
but to make it too personally in downplaying knicks lack of success, same can be said for recent Nets (nj)

However let the play of teams do the talking,

Its like when Jets were good (I'm steeler man)
the coach had to tell you we're real good the best, we don't need a team giving itself props yet.

Knicks & players like Melo have their weird ways but I dont see them dis-ssing other clubs
like Nets Prokoff has.

Shoots Joe Johnson been in Bklyn for 1st time in his life for 2 seconds in summer proclaims their backcourt is BETTER than NYK
and team is better.

Johnson a star in NBA ..this coming from a fool whom hasnt done a thang in NBA to make his Hawks go to next level
before trade to NY/Brooklyn. He's a good vet kid, whom like Deron needs to put lid on it & talk more NBA hoops
as opposed to worrying about knickerbockers in the press. That is my take on things.
