You can't play the previous head coaching experience card. How did these people land head coaching gigs? Ewing not getting a head coaching gig has got to have something to do with him personally, not his resume. He's been an assistant coach longer than most of these folks have been alive. [sarcasm]

Mark Jackson? At the end of the 2008 NBA season, Jackson unexpectedly quit his position with the YES Network. Mark Jackson was hired as head coach of the Golden State Warriors on June 6, 2011.

Monty Williams? In 2005, Williams was hired by new head coach Nate McMillan as an assistant coach for the Portland Trail Blazers. On June 7, 2010, Williams was offered a three-year contract to be the head coach of the New Orleans Hornets.

Avery Johnson? On October 28, 2004, Johnson retired from playing and signed as an assistant coach with the Dallas Mavericks under Don Nelson. Johnson had played under Nelson from 2001–2003, and it was understood from the beginning that he was being groomed to eventually succeed Nelson as head coach. His transition from assistant to head coach came five months later on March 19, 2005 after Nelson resigned.

as with any potential head coach, ego is always going to be an issue. as with any potential head coach, leadership ability especially in reading players, and a mind for the game is always going to be an issue too.

did he grow as a coach in ten years? it sure doesn't look like he brought along howard sufficiently.

when the world is sending you a message maybe it's time to take a look in the mirror. there's no shame in that.

Ewing, the player had issue communicating with his team mates and the media in general. Can't see this getting much better. As an assistant coach for Orlando, he had a reputation for his "lack" of intensity and to be honest, I haven't seen anything in Howard's game that I can truly attribute to Ewing.

the fact that you can't even have an unrelated thread without some tool here bringing him up make me think that rational minds are few and far between. Bunch of emotionally weak, angst riddled people. I mean, how many times can you argue the same shyt

also, Pat was bitching in the media about New York not offering him an Assistant coaching gig when Walsh was still running the show. Walsh responded that Ewing never called him. When Ewing heard Donnie's response he said he shouldn't have to? REALLY PAT, get over yourself.

You really going to bring in Ewing as an assistant?

We have a big man coach, his name is Herb.

What does Oak want to do? His buddy was Mike. He gave him a job. Does Oak want to cook?

Oak was a Bull, A KNick and a Raptor.

Article is BS.

Please Nalod
I'm surprise at you!

this aint about just hiring Ew & Oak as a job for the new now hot team called Knickerbockers

why you bring up Herb Williams ?
he hasnt dont anything here, he is respected and his job is Safe.

Fact of matter is whether you like or disliked Ew or Oak
they were main Core in MSG Knicks, never gave org. issues and respected in NBA & entire NY. That is what article is about.

You want to go and discard Ew and Oak as unimportant here that's your business.. man
fair respected.

I dont see the same & it aint always about the job.
However alot of these special ex knicks never get mentioned for something special here, in the Dolan organization.
Ewing and Oakley are two of them guys.

That story is small line around the town which isnt a major issue since they moved on.

But to go on like Knicks are alright with Ewing and Oakley as far as post organization activities
I dont think so .. just my fair opinion brother

Allan Is GM of the Dleague team.

Ewing was givin a head coach job to prove his meddle. Maybe he does well another team is impressed and he gets a gig.

Has he been a top assistant anywhere yet?

This is why you don't even let him hang around at all cuz all of a sudden knicks are made out like the bad guys when all they did was throw him a bone.

Lasalle Thompson might be a very hard working man who has earned his place. I don't know why Ewing is not given a head coaching job by the knicks or anyone else but it seems from the outside his resume as a coach is not enough. As for Oak he too needs to shut the phuch up. ONe year on the BOBCats is not make for a solid resume. There is a whole network of guys going from coaching clinics and building up their cred. I don't know if these guys are doing it or not but lets be real about it instead of nostalgic about what these guys were and meant to the organization. They were players, they were paid big for a job well done.

And if your going to speak out about the organization and you know the owner is a paranoid control freak then its pretty apparent your not going to get on with Dolan. To Dolan's credit, he does keep a fair amount of ex-players around if they want to further their career. LJ back in the fold, Starks, Mase, Herb, Allan, seem pretty well in the fold. I suppose we can't hold our breath for spree to make an appearence.

So Knicks Ew and Oak need to kiss the org. Ass more to please you eh ? Nalod
