What happens when Amar'e is back in rotation?

So with the winning streak we are on, question about Amar'e's return is mind boggling.
What do you think will happen when he comes back in rotation?
Glass always full and spilling. He'll blend right in and we'll be a-okay and winning!
He will ruin the chemistry. It is proven Amar'e and Melo can't be on the same mountain. Prepare for losing streak.
Woody will have him come off the bench. Most expensive bench player in NBA history.
He ain't coming back. Might even be able to trade his H20 contract to another team.
We're riding 6-0 on the back of the cheetah from Harold and Kumar. Amar'e who?

His minutes should be down and he can still be effective. He will probably start, but he should come off the bench with JR Smith moving to the starting lineup as long as he continues to stay consistent. JR Smith brings that Starks fire to this team so much. It made life easier for Ewing when he played alongside Starks, and JR Smith is becoming the same thing to Melo. Long term i can see a lineup of Chandler, Melo, Felton, Smith, and Shumpert being very good with Smith solidifying himself as the second option averaging 17 pts, 5 rebs, 3 asts, and 1.5 steals. Stoudemire as 6th man would be ideal. Worst case scenario is only 1 more full season and he becomes a large expiring contract.

After a failed comeback from surgery, Amare will retire in January.

You heard it here first.

If this is true--do we get a player exemption that can be used to sign a free agent?

Why do we have a winning culture? How are we closing out games? What are some of the new strengths of our Knicks team?

Great ball movement (passing).
Defense.
Low turnovers (important for our possessions because we haven't been that great in the rebounding category).

Unfortunately for Amare, HE EXCELS AT NONE OF THESE QUALITIES.

He is not known to be a good passer. Rather, he has tendencies to be the "black hole", where you pass him the ball and you won't see it coming back. He wants to shoot and score.

Defense??? No. Just, no. Getting one block means jack if you're consistently letting your man blow by you or losing players on the backdoor cuts. He's such a liability on defense.

He also turns the ball over a lot. Bobbles passes. Loses his dribble.

I honestly don't know where Amare fits into this team and its new identity. We have a top 5 offensive player in the league (Melo), a Sixth Man of the Year candidate in JR who also provides offensive firepower, RayRay has been returning to borderline All-Star playmaking, and we have 3-pt shooters in Kidd, Novak, and heck even Brewer. Yes, Amare can add some offensive talents to our team but I'm praying the coaching staff does not lose sight of why we have been doing so well. Defense. Defense. It's all about defense.

In my opinion (since I doubt he's tradeable), we have to delicately handle Amare's ego and convince him that by announcing he'll gladly come off the bench, it will do wonders for his image, as opposed to insisting he is a starter in the NBA and consequently seeing the Knicks return to the Knicks of old. 20-25 min off the bench please.

YOu got to earn that.

MY beef is you called me out on the rondo comment because you did not read my post.

You reguritate the obvious over and over so you needed a talking to anyway.

Instead of "my bad" you bring on sophmoric reference to "Tampons".

At my age I might be menopausal so I might not even use one anymore!

See, be original to defuse a confrontation or just freaking do a "my bad".....Name calling stopped working in grade school.

Thats how you earn it son!

STAT can play fine as long as his legs are healed. He was moving great before the knee got banged up. No reason to think he can't play well since the dude is an All Star that has played bigtime BB. It's not like he's a problem for teams. There is literally no really significant history of STAT being a problem. The issue was we didn't have good PG's. I don't see an issue here with a healthy STAT. That's the only question in my mind. Not if he can fit in and be a key part of the team.

I'm assuming that Woody will be cautious with working him back in like he has been with everyone else so far. He doesn't seem to like to rush guys back into the mix.

For once maybe the Knicks fans can not complain about what will happen when a injured player comes back and just wish that they player recovers. Social media has empowered the words of fans and athletes can read the quotes out there or hear the chatter on the radio, or from their friends who here the talk. So how about Knicks fans do something different and lift Amar'e spirits and let him know the fans welcome him with open arms so when he comes back he is not pressing trying to show everyone this or that. He will simply just get in where he fits in. Amar'e comeback well and push this team to new heights.

Amare should play 22.5 mpg give or take 12 seconds.

Start him so he gets to come out when the lights get turned off --> See how he plays with Melo and Chandler as the best frontcourt in the NBA. If it works, GREAT! If not..

Use him to backup Melo at PF. Melo gets 2 early fouls, Amare 1st guy off the bench.

I'm counting on Amare to have some pride and not be the guy that stops the ball when the rest of the team is moving it. To not be the guy who misses assignments when everyone else is busting their arse on D.

Sheed is smart as hell. So's Kidd. Chandler/Woody holds guys accountable. Shump is a beast on D as is Brewer as is Camby man as is Krazy Eyes Kurt. If Amare can still create holes in the defense with all of these players and this coach around him then he's hopeless on D and we have to hope:

- his J is back to where it was
- some of his explosiveness comes back
- he becomes the reincarnation of Hakeem

Then he'd basically be like Brook Lopez. Max contract, All offense, zero defense. Hopefully a better rebounder than Lopez.

Let's try to elevate the level of discourse in this byeetch. Please

What happens is Amare makes the team better the same way that Shump will make the team better. Injuries are going to happen throughout the year and it's good that we're this deep. I can't wait for our 2 guns to get back.

Make no mistake, if we plan on winning a chip we're not doing it without Amare.

I think what happens if we have a very wide rotation, which is going to be really helpful because we're likely to have players injured from time to time. Furthermore, some of our older players cannot play 30+ mpg in both games of a back-to-back, so this depth is going to be critical. The real thing is not where Amar'e fits in - if he accepts his role, he'll do fine. The real thing here is going to be that let's say two of our bigs go down (whichever two), we have the depth. Two of our guards go down - again, we have the depth where we still have a shot to win. I'm hoping this allows us to go with wider rotations and keep guys fresh until the playoffs.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

I don't know what to predict. I thought this was going to be a big year for Amare. He put in a ton of work in the offseason and appeared to be in great shape. I believe that I read somewhere that doctors felt that Amare's knee would hold up for 5 basketball years after micro fracture surgery and I know that was why Phoenix didn't resign him. His surgery was 7 yeaars ago. Maybe the Knicks training staff determines that he is most effective in limited minutes. If Amare could back spell Melo/Tyson when they come off the court he would be a tremendous asset. Most teams don't have a force like Amare running with their second unit.

I think Felton and Kidd will figure out how to play with Amare. Lord knows Felton did it amazingly for a stretch. Even Pablo will make life easier for STAT. It's been said numerous times, but STAT does need a facilitating PG for him to be most effective.

I say he will be a huge plus to our team.
