Bonn - Mike D'Antoni hasn't won anything.

He has zero championship rings. Zero.

Let's see how the well-stocked Lakers respond to the "offensive genius."

The more I think about it the more I understand why Amare is so badly broken down physically before even reaching 30. Dantoni from day one had Amare playing center going up against Duncan and Shaq running up and down the court in a high octane offense. Now I understand why Amare's been through multiple knee surgery and back issues. Surprised he is not in a wheel chair trying to guard those 2 hall of fame bigs deep in the playoffs

This started as soon as Woodson took over

... On the Other Hand, let's go Inside The NYK Numbers

"In fact, the Knicks are 27th in possessions, but have the No. 2 offense in the league and, as Ian Begley of ESPN notes, “are second in offensive efficiency (points per 100 possessions) at 112.”

The Knicks also currently lead the league in steals per game. On the flip side, the Knicks are protecting the ball, which can be considered defensive play. They cough up the fewest turnovers right now, while causing the second most per game at near a big-time 18.5.

It would be nice to see some improvements on the boards, where the Knicks have fallen off a bit.

But they are dominating the ball and the game like they haven’t in about 20 years. The Knicks are winning like they haven’t in 20 years. And it’s not just this year. This started as soon as Woodson took over. The offense is strong. The defense is better. But it’s the two working together that is finally making the Knicks a contender for the Eastern crown"

Well if he hasn't won anything, then Woodson *certainly* hasn't won anything.

Exactly. Ergo, that makes them equals.

One is NOT superior to the other.

Therefore, whatever Mike Woodson says about his strategic preferences, in context of (or contrast to) Mike D'Antoni, is no big deal.

Beat San Antonio.

Either it makes them equals or a binary (championship = success, all else = failure) assessment makes no sense. A binary assessment would mean that many (probably most) hall-of-famers were failures.

exactly. woodson has been annihilated in the second round each time. d'antoni made it to the wcf twice and was a nash nosebleed + stat and diaw suspension away from the finals.

no comparison.

knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

Woodson also never had Steve Nash and a healthy Amare, for the short time Amare was actually healthy before Dantoni rode him like secretariat. Joe Johnson was the 3rd or 4th best player in Phoenix if you factor in Marion while Joe Johnson was the best player in Atlanta.

Mike Woodson's face annoys me. He is always so damn serious all the time. Doesn't the man know that smiles and laughter is the best medicine?

Amar'e had Micro Fracture surgery on Oct. 18, 2005 and at that point had only played one season with MDA. There's no way in HELL that his health issues had anything to do with MDA. In the 04 season STAT avg'd 36 mpg. For a young player that would go on to be an All Star that was not an outrageous amount of minutes. Guys STAT's size and smaller have played C in the NBA before and they didn't break down. It's not like you go up against a huge POST UP C every single night in the NBA.

Let's remember that a big part of why Amar'e was so dominant was that he had a speed advantage against just about every C in the league. MDA made the right choice when it came to Amar'e and Melo is now able to do the same thing playing PF against bigger slower guys.

As for Woodson's comments I really don't care what he says. I only care what he does with this team. If he backs up his talk then fine. I do know that if MDA had actually had a defensive C like Tyson, he could easily have won a title in PHX. It's not like they didn't get to the WCF's twice and actually battle toe to toe with some of the toughest teams in the NBA in the superior Western Conference. Remember MDA wasn't just beating up on weak East teams when he got to the WCF's. Just have to pay proper respect. This man had Popovich and Phil Jackson in his conference!!!

I'm still perplexed over that Warnerbros. logo on Melo's left arm. That is the most random thing to put on your body. Anyone know the story behind that? is he owned by Warner Bros?

Those other tats are cool but that Warnerbros logo is so damn random. "Hey, man, I need a Warner Bros. Logo right here."

Bonn1997 wrote:It sounds like Woodson's gotten Cocky. No doubt he's had a nice small run here but he talks a big game for a .434 coach (.353 in the playoffs). He should at least wait until he achieves something meaningful in the playoffs before giving lessons to other coaches.

It's not all about winning percentage. Look at where he started with Atlanta. He improved that team every year he was there for 6 straight seasons.

He had six full seasons in Atlanta and never achieved the amount of success MDA did in a tougher conference. You'd think he'd be more cognizant that he's talking about someone with a record superior to his own.

It helps MDA's cause when his 4th best player was Woodson's best player. Also, I don't think Woody said anything out of the obvious. Sure, he could have handled it with a bit more class but there's something I like about our leader talking a bit of smack.
