Pau is the protypical center for what MDA runs. He can shoot the ball. The problem is how to integrate Dwight.

Dwight just burning thru coaches!

Funny, SVG said the other day he'd coach dwight again no problem.

Problem is more with Metta in the starting lineup.

MDA wanted to chill and be with only child his senior year in High School.

He is the prototype if Howard was not there but he is and Howard is not going anywhere. Gasol is the only chip they have. Also, Mda is a nice short term fit but what happens when Nash is washed up in another year or 2. This action of firing Brown is a win now move so who cares about next year.

MDA as the HC would be great for Kobe/Nash, horrible for Dwight. I can't see D'Antoni adapting his system to complement a top tier center. Howard's skills would be wasted standing above the free throw line watching guards jack up 3's all game.

Does Phil come back yet again? Nash can pick up the triangle offense easily, and he has a younger version of Shaq to work with.

In truth the orlando magic shot a ton of threes and they seemed to do well with dwight... dwight can run pick and roll with nash, there are other things they can do besides have dwight stand and watch guards jack up threes....

contrary to beliefs around here, Dantoni is a good coach, he will be coaching a better cast of high paid players than he had here.. Although i don't like Dwight and gasol on the front line, I think dantoni would have little problem coaching guys that can grasp a offensive concept that requires some thinking....

thats certainly not a MDA roster even with Nash..I also agree, with no training camp MDA will have a tough time..Kobe once admitted he love MDA's offensive mind, not sure he's fond of his defensive mind..

Gasol, Howard, Nash, kobe, metta...Thats not a starting line up that complements each other

The Lakers roster isn't a perfect match for MDA but it's not that far off either. There are some players who should be able to adjust. As long as you don't have the teams best player resisting what MDA tries to do, then offensively they should make it work.

As for Kobe not liking MDA's defensive mind, everyone makes the same mistake about MDA's defense. It's the SAME DAMN D AS WOODY's! The huge difference is in having defensive C's to anchor the D. Woody focuses more on it, but even under MDA the Knicks were still a top defensive team. It all started with having Tyson anchor the D as opposed to only having STAT, who is horrible on D. If you have Howard as the anchor it should work. The Lakers have enough talent to be playing better than they are. I don't think MDA is looking to get back in this soon. I remember he was needing to have Knee replacement surgery.

Mike D'antoni isn't going to the Lakers.

They plan to utilize Dwight Howard's defense and rebounding.

The way this was handled is a complete disaster for the Lakers.

This isn't a D'Antoni roster. Too many post up players and not enough shooters. Gasol and Metta can't space the floor, Kobe would be underutilized and he's indifferent to D.

I smell a Zen Master return - the roster is too good not to, he can win another ring with this group, maybe 2 if Nash and Kobe stay healthy.

My bet is also on Phil Jackson...

Though this lineup will probably have most of the available coaches salivating. But, the Zen Master could put his triangle offense back into effect pretty quickly.

You know I gonna spin wit it

Smart move by the Lakers. No reason to drag out something that wasn't working. I heard more speculation that PJax is coming back. ESPN radio reported that he was scheduled to be the keynote speaker at an event in Chicago next Friday and suddenly was replaced. In regards to D'Antoni I think the speculation is more based on Nash then Kobe, Pau and Howard.

I hope gets the job... I am curious to see what he can do with a high quality roster that aren't necessarily his type of players

I also agree - Brown sucked. How is this any worse than JVG quitting on the Knicks a few games into the season? I think its smart. They probably knew they could call PJax and get him back so it is a no brainer, this is business and the Lakers have a great opportunity to win.

Mike D'Antoni was completely overmatched by the New York marketplace. Good luck to the Lakers if they hire him.

Key is they got rid of Brown early because things spiraled out of control ala Dantoni with the Knicks almost missing the playoffs gettting the 7th seed and embarrassed by the champions

yeah... I read that the reason they fired Brown now was because they think their schedule is soft now and they didn't want the team to perform better and risk that he justifies his job
