We have two homes within two miles of each other--they made people leave the area in one of them so I have no idea of condition and it could be bad but the home we stayed never lost power and had minimal effect

No power, no heat, some food left and a little over 3/4 a tanks of gas. Do I drive south or north? In Northern nj now. No clue what's going on in the world, this is crazy.

Got power restored fairly quickly. But now I need to gas up my car. All the local stations have sucked dry. Sandy burns me again. The gift that keeps on giving.

I just got my power and heat back today after losing it Monday night. Gas lines are long as hell and nightmarish. I'm one of the lucky ones. In terms of lives lost, this doesn't compare to Katrina, but in terms of overall lost homes and wreckage, this might be worse. The entire south shore of Long Island is completely wrecked. That's just Long Island. I'm hearing NJ got pretty destroyed.

Like I said, I'm lucky. Many people lost their houses, and other people lost lives apparently.

I don't think East coast has faced anything like this before. My job is on 40th street, they still have no phone lines working and pretty much nobody can get to the office. They are saying another storm is coming and it is gonna hit around election day. Edgar Cayce predicted this like half a century ago.

You guys with houses should think about buying a power inverter for the next time you lose power. It lets you use your car's battery as a power source. Northern Tool sells some up to 5000 watts and its quieter than a generator and you don't have the carbon monoxide issues.

I was okay throughout the storm here in Brooklyn. There was only heavy drizzle and heavy winds causing some downed trees. My neighborhood fared much better than some others around the city. I am glad to hear that fam, friends, co-workers and my UK fam are all doing well.
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

Had no power for 5 days, but went down to Baltimore for a mini-vacation. Now the big issue is getting gasoline. No luck.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

Well I'm back in NJ now. I live in Northern NJ. The two gas stations that actually had gas ran out of gas while I was waiting on line BOTH TIMES. Now I have to wait until Wednesday.

Still no power. LIPA is so unprepared not funny anymore. Long Island is very primitive still using the telegraph poles from 1800's.

Infrastructure upgrades. This country needs it. I do believe that was proposed with paid-for tax increases on 1%.
