but on the cheap fish, this is a high reward, low risk type of guy.... heck we have JR smith, we can give anyone a chance if we gave him one..

Blatche is not a Woodson type player.

Kurt, Camby, Kidd and Wallace are.....

It's that simple!

We don't have to coach these clowns....But Woodson does!

is jr smith a woodson player?

briggs in the new carmelo era knicks have no interest in guys like Blatche. a talented (but knuckleheaded) player with a lot of skills.. would require having the ball in his hands sometimes... but the problem is, as ewing said the other night... there are very few shots left after carmelo and amare, so everyone else just needs to rebound and defense.. this is how all teams that try to build around carmelo are formed.. and when they fail, people cry he has no help... so we need to get out of our heads getting guys like that the next few years... guys like Brewer and old guys who won't need shots are the kinds of players we will be getting....

And is not just the money that we are paying those guys (specifically KT, Camby and Felton) this year, but what about the 4 second rounder (plus Josh Herrelson) that we surrounded during the process. Since the league now allows each team to use 3 million a year only, in trades, I really don’t know how we are going to acquire future assets, for future trades.

I like drafting euros and incubating them. This is how you get Manu and Splitter. N*ts have a few they bought in this year. They might not be star players, but you might grab a good one once in a while.

there is no way. what you see now is what you get... and I am not excited about seeing this same thing the next few years.. lack of flexibility in this league is killer..

DAT BLATCHE!!!!!!!!!

What concerned me is that Melo and Erl were already here. ENVIRONMENT TOXIC

His talent level though never could be questioned. The time to have taken a flyer on him was early on when he received a low contract offer from the Wizards. Were usually late on making moves like this.

The Josh Childress move by them was huge too along with Evans.....it didn't require them giving up multiple assets and signing these guys to multi yr deals. They all have to prove they want to remain in Brooklyn with their play.

Didn't Washington amnesty him for a reason? I mean he makes peanuts, kinda wierd to amnesty someone that young in their prime no?

Oh well, let him implode BK's lockerroom.

I'd be curious to see what percentage of posters saying "the Knicks should of signed Blatche" also said "i can't believe the Knicks resigned JR"

Didn't Denver let Earl go to China with no kind of offer presented and no attempt at S&T to get value back for him? Smith was only 25yrs old then. Oh well he'll be our chucking no defense playing problem.

Yep letting a player walk in free agency is the same as paying a player 22million to leave.

Wasn't there a lockout and several players opted to play overseas for guaranteed paydays? Didn't Wilson Chandler go there too? Didn't Deron go to Turkey? Didn't K-Mart? Didn't Tony Parker?

Ha, so true. People seem to be getting nostalgic for the IT days- Blatche is just the kind of player (bad attitude, good offense no defense) he would have signed.

So just to clarify some posters viewpoint:

Jr is terrible because he's a mental midget chucker, whilst Blatche is a god.

Knicks will never find any diamonds in the rough? Past year we found Novak and Lin! TKF, your feeling hopeless about this team, which is understandable given our past, but it's really skewing your on e excellent keys-to-the-game judgement! I really hope we do well this year so you can get some of your fire and enthusiasm back!

Getting no value back for a 25yr old Enigma who supposedly will turn it around in New York is never a good sign. While there was a lockout J.R. went overseas because Denver all but told him early on he wasn't getting a new contract.

Not to menton they still owned his BRs when he returned and they still gave him 50ft to sign where he wanted...N S&Ts...not even for a future protected 2nd round pick. Naw ya'll can sell that to someone else gullible

Amazing...I'm seeing the same people that question Melo's IQ and call JR dumb, nut-huggin' Blatche. The bashing of our own and the coveting of other teams problems continues....

I'm not on any Blatche kick. Matter of fact if you pull up the Blatche thread when New Jersey was interested in signing I specifically said he's immature and part of the low IQ quality of player we need to stay away from but if signed it's strictly because of his talent.

Meanwhile the cry me a river posters in this thread trying to act like he never should have been considered are the same posters who said we should sign him because we have VETS who could keep him in line....

Are you sure about Denver having J. R.'s bird rights in 2011? He was drafted in 04.

Yes they had his BRs go look up Earl's contract history with Denver(USA TODAY) and figure it out.
