as I said, just because you make a lot of noise, doesn't mean you are doing things..

nets didn't make much noise about the Joe johnson trade

no news coming out of nets camp that their guys after 10 years decide to show up in shape

no news of nets players working out with HOF players on their games, no coach going around acting like "father figure"...

they are just going about their business quietly..professionally..

what does all of that mean? probably nothing

just goes to show maybe there is something else that people look at.. even bookies..

Are they really though? Pretty sure the nets have been talking a tonne of trash about us, and how they're new yorks number one team. Don't think they've been cool professionals at all. Meanwhile our players have refused to get drawn into it.

I like to see quotes from actual Nets reps and players, and not Charles Barkley or SA like Stephen A. Smith, and not their fans.....saying they a New York's #1 team?

I could be mistaken, but didn't the owner say something to the effects they they were New Yorks #1 team?

He called us the "second team" in New York which if being technical he's accurate in his statement speaking from a 1rst team perspective. It's like someone speaking in First Person to others.

“Excuse me, what is that name? Ah, oh, Knicks. Yes, I’ve heard about this second team in New York.”

He also called Dolan "that little man" and it's obvious he's doing his job as owner to sell his team and sell this new rivalry

Your playing with semantics here. You know exactly what he meant by that statement as he's been taking shots at the Knicks since he officially took over the franchise. He said they are the 1st team meaning, in his mind the Knicks are the Jets to the Nyets, Giants. So, there is your direct quote from the top of the organization..... And you know good and d***-well that if Dolan made such a statment, he would be flame-broiled on this board.

What really strikes me as odd, is the extent that some on this board go to defend and clarify the statements of the other teams owners. The sunny out-look of other teams (Warriors, Rockets, Wizards, etc) and watch out for this and that up-coming team when we all know these up-coming teams will not even sniff a championship let alone a playoff birth. But when it comes to the home-team, Knicks fans go the other way and craft paragraphs that spin anything remotely positive into a negative.

come on lets not be coy... there is nothing odd about it. it's because the knicks are owned by one of the two worst owners in the nba. why should anybody feel good about having dolan as the knick owner?!? he has been an unmitigated disaster, blundering from terrible hires to eleventh hour interloping to petulant irrationality.

vegas simply sees what the infidels among knick fans see.

I still don't see the hype, not even in his comments. How can you hype a team when you're being asked an opinion about another team. That's like a slow chain reaction. MP has been an outspoken owner since day 1, his statement holds no more weight in it's original time stamp than had he said it many many many many many months ago.

That's like me saying Knicks are being overhyped as contenders and then pulling a Dolan quote with him saying he believes this team is Championship material....lol come on!

When are you going to stop running laps meet my direct response to your question head on? You said find a rep that made the statement that said the Nyets are "NY's #1 team", and I found it....Never said anything about over-hyped. Now you are shuffling backwards and changing the rules by placing time-frames on quotes now.

You're right. The media is all over the Nets. Also, the Knicks are a NY team and every action taken by the club or a player is analyzed and reported by the media. I don't think that is hype as some are calling it. I think it is srutiny and some Knicks are scrutinized more than others. Check out other teams sites and see what the media is saying about their team.

is it a shock folks are going to say stuff about the knicks in the media? take it from the desired reaction/eyeball draw to the actual results over the years. can folks really be shocked on vega odds or carmelo getting heat?

lets see how ny media reacts to arod now, speaking of scrutiny...

The owner is focused on marketing and saying the Nets are the best team in NY. There are plenty of quotes from the players talking about how they expect this to be a good season. Not sure how that is different from what Knick players are saying.

Since you like playing with semantics, I'll play your game....

"Ah, oh, Knicks. Yes, I've heard about this second team in New York."

"I think we're getting to where we will have an epic rivalry. It will be great for the fans, for the basketball. I think really, the coming of the arena and team to Brooklyn, we can finally put New York on the map. It's about time."

There are your quoteS. Yes, its from the same guy so spin however you want. Also, the fact that he said 'finally put NY on the map' implies that his team will trump the Knicks.....I.E Nyets are/will be #1....

Just because you haven't been paying attention over the offseason, you expect us to trawl back and find quotes from a few months ago? trust me Deron Williams was the first to make some digs, Joe Johnson did it recently, and here is the most recent one I can remember:

Andray Baltche on Twitter: "NYC the nets is yours no longer the Knicks"

Ya'll go off like anything Prok says is so wrong. I'd like it if Dolan had the stones to be visible. He is the wizard of oz and hides behind his machine. I'll give the Cubans and Jerry Jones a bit of credit because when things go wrong they at least address it. They might apologize to the fan. Knicks management is not allowed to talk. Knicks keep selling tickets. Now there is a real threat because another team presents a new product.

Some take it that any criticism of the team is not "support" and some how if we don't support them they won't be as good. Phuch that. Seems some got offended with the billboard and Prok's sarcastic remark about NY's "other" team! Dude is building a rivalry and interest. There is a lot at stake for these teams. competition is a good thing. It brings the best out of teams.

No, he's saying Knicks fans who believe that we aren't title contenders are the infidels. Also, even if a team is worse than we are right now, we can see how certain teams have a plan in place using their current players, draft picks, and roster flexibility to become title contenders. The Knicks on the otherhand are locked into this roster for the foreseeable future with no obvious way to improve unless we blow it up in three years.

Now the joy of my world is in Zion How beautiful if nothing more Than to wait at Zion's door I've never been in love like this before Now let me pray to keep you from The perils that will surely come

as I said, just because you make a lot of noise, doesn't mean you are doing things..

nets didn't make much noise about the Joe johnson trade

no news coming out of nets camp that their guys after 10 years decide to show up in shape

no news of nets players working out with HOF players on their games, no coach going around acting like "father figure"...

they are just going about their business quietly..professionally..

what does all of that mean? probably nothing

just goes to show maybe there is something else that people look at.. even bookies..

So you are implying that any Knick fan that believes the Knicks are a better team than the Nyets is an infidel, correct?

No-one is denying Dolan's short-comings. He's an idiot who meddles way-too-much. But, that has nothing to do with the product wearing the blue-n-orange for the 2012-2013 season. I believe that our current roster is better than the Nyets (period). I guess that makes me an infidel for believing it but its my opinion.

And it is odd, that you guys go out of your way to wax-poetic about other teams (not just the Nyets) but the Warriors, Raptors and Rockets who according to the odds will all miss the playoffs, yet some on this board are in love with their rosters. I think most here will agree (perhaps quietly) that the Knicks will be better than "Said" teams yet because we dont have a championship roster, everything that is remotely positive is spun into a negative. Where as, these other teams who are even further behind us in the championship ring line, get glowing reports from most here.

Just to be clear, are you saying that the roster flexibility and current players of the Warriors, Raptors and Rockets (teams I've seen being supported here) have a shot to become title contenders down the road? Your fooling yourself if you really believe this. Only a handful of teams win 'Chips in the NBA. Legit MVP candidates win 'Chips in the league, check the history. Those teams are positioning themselves to perhaps sneak into a playoff spot and get bounced early sometime down the road but thats about it. Fans get too caught up in Potential....

Good find. Didn't see this myself....pretty sure he'll either run from this or change up the argument....

i really don't care about other teams. i care about the knicks winning a championship, not dolan filling the stands with casual fans with stars in their eyes. i am an infidel because i don't believe that this team with dolan as owner is ever going to achieve what it should because dolan is clearly uninterested in winning titles. and his underlings are left to scramble to try and erect the mirrors and start the smoke machines in order to gull folks into believing otherwise. it's a farce.

look at the thread title. oddsmaking is a mathematical exercise not an emotional one. it's not the same as gambling which is often if not exclusively emotional.

the notion of "vegas hates the knicks" is an emotional response to a mathematical assertion.

what do you think the criteria is for making these odds? the same criteria by which dolan makes his decisions?

knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

No, I'm not saying those teams in particular but there are definitely teams worse than us now that have set themselves up for greater future success than us. There are teams that have the ability to get an MVP type player and build a better team around him than we have with Melo.

that's actually a really, really good value bet. I don't see how getting a good value bet is a bad thing. For you nut huggers, why wouldn't you drop $100 on the Knicks?

It's an actual true statement. The New York Knicks are not the sole NBA team in the city so we don't totally own it as 1 anymore, we have to share. He does not say the Nets are New York's #1 team.

I'll continue to wait....

I wouldn't put any money on the Knicks being that they are one season ending injury to Amare away from finishing far behind the the Nets, nevermind Boston. Everyone including my worst fear

I wish there was a sportsbook in NY or NJ. Last I heard Christie was trying to get some law passed for AC, not sure how long that will take if it happens. Don't trust many online gambling sites after the whole Full Tilt Poker fiasco. For now I'll just Fanduel to get my fix.
