Have you ever been in sports in your 20's? I used to play all day on concrete. If you get injured it's not simply cuz you played too much at that age. It's just an injury. It can happen at anytime having nothing to do with the amount of minutes you played. Usually it's making some sharp stop or cut that puts an extra stress on your leg in an unusual way. Shump wasn't being overplayed when he got hurt. Did CP3's coach overplay him or D Rose's coach run him into the ground. Did D Wade's coach run him into the ground? Why is Chris Smith hurt already? This is not to say that wear and tear doesn't play a part, but a few more minutes a game isn't usually the cause. I would say that the more aggressive a players style is that increases the chance of injury. All that high speed starting and stopping and sharp cuts can really stress the joints.
No I have never played sports in my 20s- I was spectacularly bad at every sport I tried at school, so I avoided it as best I could after graduating! Now I'm in my early 30s I just swim and walk now- they are the two activities that require the least amount of skill, but may help me stave off a heart attack!
Usually I'd agree with you on this, but Lin's meniscus injury was labelled a chronic tear, which as I understand it, has no particular freak incident, but happens over time. Brewer had the same thing but he's been playing much longer so its expected. I'm no expert though, so you may be right.
