Does the mere fact that Woodson (humility or matter-of factly?) acknowledged D'Antoni suddenly validate your fierce loyalty to the departed head coach?
Now that you have let go of pre-judging Woodson due to your loyalty to Mike D'Antoni, does that make Woodson a better coach, or the coach he always was?
I never disliked Woody as a person but I did have criticism based on legit limitations to his offensive creativity. As I said he got the nickname ISO JOE for a reason. Also I could separate my support for MDA from my views of the job Woody was doing. I resent the implication that my judgment was skewed due to my support for MDA. If you go back and read my posts i've been able to make fair and honest critiques of Woody's performance.
To be honest there wasn't enough to really go off of during the 18-6 stint. Part of that was the team just bursting out after the coaching change and had NOTHING to do with Woody's coaching style. How could it when they won early games just off effort and energy before Woody even had a chance to hold his own practice and even then he didn't have time to really change anything of substance due to the schedule. Woody could not fully be Woody last year.
Now after the season Woody had his chance to really put his imprint on this team. That is what i've been basing my opinions on. This is 100% Woody and thus it is the best view of what he's really like as a coach. He's been hard at work and so far he's been great. Things he's doing now are even more aggressive than things he did in the past with Atlanta. He's shown an ability to change. Thus I feel he's grown as a coach. Case in point when Atlanta's front office asked Woody to change his ways and incorporate some changes in the offense and use the young PG they drafted more, he resisted and the team lost badly in the playoffs. His offense was too easy to defend.
I think Woody is doing everything he can to help his team perform better. He's willing to change some things in order to help the team perform better. We don't know how it will all turnout for him, but I like his efforts so far.
