Maybe we can scour the NCAA or Europe for a 7 footer who shoots half court set shots...

Then set a screen, problem solved.

Guys criticizing a guy's shooting form is hilarious. Reggie Miller shot cross wristed, Larry Bird from behind his head, Anthony Mason shot free throws 1 handed. Shawn Marion has probably the fugliest shot in history, shot high percentages from the field, free throw, and 3 pt line in his prime in Phoenix. Who cares as long as the shot goes in!

All of those guys you mentioned had an arc to their shot. It isn't a question of how pretty it is but whether or not he can shoot with a defender in his face.

Lots of players can't get a clean look with a defender in their face.

His shot is ugly, but it's quick.

Like I posted earlier, can the Knicks set a screen? That's what teams do to get their team mates an open look.

Plus he moves without the ball and can catch and shoot, i really think this will be the least of his issues if he makes it.

They wouldn't have to be that close to challenge it. Pretty much all those shots in that video, his defender wasn't close enough to challenge him. If he starts showing that he can drain a 3, other teams will play him closely. Shawne Williams was a great 3 point shooter and was lighting up the league the same way Novak was, but as soon as teams started making adjustments and playing him close, his numbers plummeted.

He has some nice moves to the rim and its not like he doesn't have anything to offer, but I don't see him being that much of a contributor. What about his defense? Any scouting reports on that?

I doubt you'd find a defensive video on the kid, but he did average over a blocked shot in his last season there.

he doesn't mind getting in the paint and mixing it up a little, basically he's a competitor, more suited for SF, although an weak rebounder, but i do think that's a combo of limited athleticism and the team needing him to stay on the floor to score.

He isn't a guy who will be in your top rotation, so the defenses he'll see at best will be bench reserves, not all nba defenders.

His shot isn't a beeline like Fields shot, nor is it the line drive, no jump jumper that Marion has.

Believe me, it's the release that's important, and he gets it off quick, plus he is efficient.

Shawne Williams has a quick release as well, didn't make much of a difference. A quick release makes more of a difference when you are shooting off the dribble or are wide open and if he can show that he can drain the three he might have a problem doing that.

From the looks of it they aren't going to need starters to give him problems but I guess we'll have to wait and see, he apparently didn't fare well in D-league. I hope you're right. Maybe facing some tough D in training camp will make him a better player. Time will tell.

Almost all the great 3pt shooters take most of their shots when they're defender is chasing or picked off. Guys that are a threat to drive can shoot with a defender who backs off but guys like Korver, Kapono and Novack mostly shoot open 3's.

He's a camp invite, I just feel if he doesn't make it won't be related to his shooting.

the fact that you can't even have an unrelated thread without some tool here bringing him up make me think that rational minds are few and far between. Bunch of emotionally weak, angst riddled people. I mean, how many times can you argue the same shyt
