Grunwald, "Mr. Dolan, we let Lin walk for nothing. Most fans are irate at the decision, and some season ticket holders wanted full refund."

Dolan, "Haven't you learned, Grunny? They are bunch of dieharders with short memory span. We'll do what we did with Sprewell, Ewing, and Camby. Just throw them a couple of chicken bones, run a damage control through our network of reporters and a smear campaigne on Lin. You know the routine. They will be back supporting us before the season starts. Now if there is nothing else, I have a singing engagement with my band."

The little man and ranked by Sports Illustrated poll as the worst owner in the NBA did it again!

i think the knicks have sold over 90% of their season tickets and suites, so apparently the fans did move on.

Season ticket holders had to renew before the playoffs last year and I believe the new ones went on sale before Lin left.

they reached 95% capacity well after the Lin decision....

http://offthedribble.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/08/23/season-tickets-for-knicks-and-rangers-are-nearly-sold-out/

I doubt they are beating the door down looking for a refund.

That article doesn't say that. It says that 95% of season ticket holders renewed, something they had to do before the playoffs last year.

If that isn't smart, I don't know what is.

Well, great for Lin. Foolish for the Rockets in that they overpaid and let two superior pg's get away. Yes, Dragic and Lowry are both substantially better than Lin.

I think what the article is stating, which is true, is that Lin would get far far far more press for good play in NY then he would in HOU. Is any one doubting that? More press would equate to more endorsements, etc.

I never really cared about how much money Lin would generate for the Knicks or himself. I only care about putting the best possible team on the floor. I have concerns about Lin being a shoot first pg, his turnovers, him not playing at 85% during the PLAYOFFS, his shoddy ball handling, etc. I kind of chalked this up to him being young but they are still real concerns for a team that is trying to win now rather than later.

It is no point to discuss Lincalamity any more.
The Knicks and Rockets win/lose column and Lins impact on Huston team will tell it all shortly.
The time goes fast so we will know the answer pretty soon.
Lin left and took his fans with him.
We have our own Melomania so lets put Linsanity to rest and in history books.

TK, I only see that if Amare is injured or ineffective and the only way to win is "18-6 ride YouTube Melo 'till he drops kind of ball" which over the course of 82 games is either not possible or nets (no pun intended for the NetPHobic sensitive) Melo an MVP honor. Lets be fair and assume with the new season comes some fresh hope.

If not I for one won't freak out into an anger tirade searching for blame.

All I know there is enough "espn" hate that has given us enough fair warning that so long as the knicks are compromised by its owners ineptitude one should temper its enthusiasm.

nalod, I can only hope that amare is 100% and ready, I think that is our real hope. I just can't get behind this self proclaimed leader of the knicks(carmelo). The guy is a bozo and it bothers me that dolan has made this guy the face of the team... I will just say this nalod. The air around this organization is just tainted, I don't get a good vibe at all.. not with dolan, grunwald, carmelo and especially not with isiah lurking somewhere and yes he is lurking for sure..

we can hope for the best, but I am so tired of investing time and hope in a team run by dolan and his minions... is there any real hope bro? I hope I am wrong... want to get back to enjoying knicks ball.. linsanity gave me that for a month.. i was proud to be a knick fan again., evenif it was just a brief moment...

You might want to come up with a better term than "Melomania". It sounds too similar to megalomania to have a good connotation.

I can totally understand the frustration, and I share your feeling to a lesser degree.

One thing that has helped me over the years, is to come away from the ledge.

When the team traded Ewing, my investment in the team dwindled to the point where i can cheer still, but the over glorifying faded completely.

But I will say.....this may be the most talented team since that last finals run.

Right now my hands are folded and I am saying "show me".

If they cannot accomplish a good season, this year, it might be good to shuffle the deck.

I'm not buying the three year win now, if they cannot establish they have a chance to win now in that first year.

Honestly less than losing to the Miami Heat in the ECF, is unacceptable, and the break should begin, no one is untouchable.

Actually in Russian culture "Melomania" is a term for music fanat (I gies from combining melody and mania words which came in Russian from other languages).
So it sound kind of cool to me...
We have a lot of new casual fans who are crazy about Melo doing his thing.
No doubt he can put the ball in the basket... but man, how boring it is most of the time.
Like same melody playing over and over again when this old fasioned vinil get stuck...

I have to say that I totally disagree. When Walsh wasn't resigned I was really worried but I have been very impressed with Grunwald. Granted he was tasked of adding to the team after the rebuild occurred and that is probably easier but he has been quietly effective. I also love Woodson and I was not sure that I would. MY hope was that Frank would be the defensive assistant Grunwald chose for D'Antoni but Woodson has been very impressive. When guys like Mike Bibby say he is a father figure, the stars on the team talk about accountability that wasn't there before, and the team finishes the season without a back to back loss despite injuries over the final 24 games, I thimk the Knicks have the right guy. Reading about guys complying with Woody's suggestions for offseason improvement and his visiting with the members of his team has been awesome. I do think Amare has a big bounce back year but I don't see that as taking away from Melo. I also don't see Melo as the self proclaimed leader. He is the first guy asked a question and he is the best player on the floor but I don't know if that makes him the leader. I am anxious to see Kidd's impact on this squad. Kidd had a Messier like impact on the Nets and the Mavs won a championship. He has his demons but I think he is much more than functional. T

Basically you take all the propaganda and smoke it. It tastes good. Thats cool.

It all sets up nice to you. Woodson like a father figure to these lost boys and gonna bring them together in some Mr Miyagi meets Shaft kind of way to make them accountable proud men. Im glad your buying this. Me, I think this is a group of Multimillionaires who are paid to do a job and entertain the fans. winning would be nice.

Yeah, this is a nice movie. Tell you what, let the games speak for themselves.
