Is it really insane to think that a selfish player like Melo would take so many shots in such a short period of time ? Not really...

Now he scored most of the shots he took against a weak opposition, but that just shows you he's still and will always be the same player.

14 minutes my man. It's almOst impossible to be selfish in 14 minutes and have that kind of output.

Give it up.

Let's go Knicks. That's amare

I take it back. I hope it's the same old Melo. We need him to be this scoring machine and let our defense lead to offense.

I wish Melo would save some of this for October, December and April.

Let's go Knicks. That's amare

I feel when he doesn't have to take the leadership role and just do what he does best...Shoot he does this kind of performance.

Im happy Melo is playing well(phucks sakes dont get hurt!!!)

Melo is an NBA all star. Watching him light it up against 3rd world countries holds less excitement than watching Majec Lampe dominate the summer league. Nobody on this forum has every said Melo isnt a good player. Dude can play

Way to go. The Olympics offer a prime opportunity to insult your global neighbors.

Nigeria sits on some of the best quality oil reserves in The World.

Buenos Aires, Argentina (Monday) is a as vibrant and modern as it gets.

I dont have insult my global neighbors, team USA did it for me.

Does anyone else not see that as simply running up the score and embarrassing your opponent? I mean... once your up 50 maybe you walk it up and drain the shot clock?

In baseball the equivelent to what team USA is doing would be like stealing bases when your winning 15-0 in the 8th inning. Coach K should be ashamed.

Ugly American indeed Earl... is this interesting for people to watch?

"We didn't play LeBron [James] and Kobe [Bryant] in the second half, and with Carmelo shooting like that, we benched him," Krzyzewski said. "We didn't take any fast breaks in the fourth quarter, and we played all zone. You have to take a shot every 24 seconds, and the shots we took happened to be hit.

I think that 80pt victories in the olympics are justified....this is the spirit of the olympics....which country is the best and take no prisoners....

check the batminton games......they threw games to try and get better seeding....that is the ugly asians trying to take advantage of the rules.

What are the rules? Dominate and take no prisoners!

Sportsmanship is dead in these games....

Besides when a guy like Carmelo is scoring 37 points in 14 mins, what can you really do about that? I mean Coach K could have played Carmelo 30 minutes to see if Melo could get 100pts by himself....

Take no prisoners, I expect nothing less from other countries.

You should show grace and respect but never give up or show weakness in this type of competition....

in Judo and boxing, wrestling...it would be embarrassing if a guy was so good that they showed mercy, and then end up losing because they didn't want to embarrass the opponent....

Go hard and destroy, and then kiss and hug afterward.

Carmelo and Co. put the WHOOPIN' down on Nigeria last night...

He did his thing, and I can't wait to see him and the rest of the Knicks do the same when the NBA season starts.

Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

Im glad to hear that... I dont really follow NCAA to well and coach K always struck me as a class guy. Very glad to hear team US slowed it down and didnt take fast break points in the 2nd half. Thats good.

Chuck, Im like the happiest dude I know. No idea why you would think Im miserable.

Team USA aside, is there a better player in the Olympics than Melo? Might put Parker and Gasol in a similar class but you cant make any reasonable arguement that those guys are better than Melo. When your bench player is heads above the other teams starters your gonna see some ugly scores.

It was cool when first dream team destroyed everyone, because there was a message to be sent there. I just dont think these matches are that interesting. Win = ho hum. Lose = epic disaster.

Watching that little Gabby girl kick was cool!

Im very happy for Melo and happy for the USA since they are dominating right now. However I feel some people keep posting melo's great perfomance as a way to say "I told you so" to some people who have been critical of melo. Now i dont agree with the melo haters but i also dont agree with people who say that melo is flawless. I am happy melo has taken this summer very serious and seems primed for a big year this year. I still feel that he has a lot to prove this year but I am confident that he will have a big year for us and lead us far into the playoffs
