I'd still like to see some occasional minutes with Melo at the 4 and Amar'e at the 5, and that works best with Amar'e having a back-to-the-basket game

With the new treatment Amar'e is getting on his back, he should be able to play without pain which I think slowed him down a lot. He looked really stiff before he got his Epidural Back Treatment. After that he looked much better.
Adding some more refined post moves would be a great boost to the team. My guess is that he'll be successful in adding post game. His touch is actually VERY good. Last year was the 1st time we saw him lose his touch and I don't believe it's a permanent thing. Very rarely do players lose the ability to shoot.

I agree. i feel like I'm in the minority on this board, but I'm willing to give Amar'e the benefit of the doubt. He came off a back injury and had no camp as well as a condensed schedule... not exactly the optimal recipe for coming back from a basketball injury. I hope Amar'e found a good yoga instructor this offseason

Just ignore those whinny fans. They aren't being rational nor looking at the kind of player Amar'e has been. It's not like he has been a failure here. He was a BEAST before the trade and in the Boston Series before tweaking his back!!! A bulging disc takes time to come back from. People have no sense of reason. If u ever had back pain u know how bad it can feel. Don't believe the fear Mongers who say STAT is done either.

The real need is for STAT to get his mid range shot back and maybe expand it. A lot of players lost their shot last year so I hope it was just anomaly.

I hope his back can handle that low post. Got to have some serious core strength to go a full season.

AMare has the quickness to really exceed. IN fact, he does have a great inside game but its based on him being quicker. Hakeem can show him the fundamentals to create space. And like I said, perhaps see the weak side help and know when to pass out instead of dropping his shoulder into the defender.

Tyson can get some easy buckets from this.

And no doubt Tyson needs some kind of move(s)he can feel confident about.

That would be a beautiful thing and what I would hope for the most. I think it would add a balance to the team enabling us to attack teams in different ways trying to exploit weaknesses. Amare with his back to the basket you double him like you said Tyson/Camby can get good looks cutting to the basket and is a big target. Melo's man most likely wouldn't leave him, Kidd and Felton could make you pay from the outside.

Or you let Melo go to work in the post and Amare/Camby can bang the 18 footer or feed a cutting Tyson/Camby if they double. Or you run the PNR with Kidd/Felton and Tyson/Camby with Amare/Novak and Melo ready to shoot jumpers.

Each option depending on the matchup.

I know the tendency is to think that Melo and Amare can't co-exist on the court, but besides the fact they're are marquee players, I think they could certainly benefit from each other's presence. Some back-to-the-basket movies will be nice, but Amare's impact on one-on-one moves is using his first step to get past his man and throw it down. But defenders would sag and he would get called for charges frequently. If he can kick it out to Melo or JR or Novak or anyone that's not Landry Fields, that should open the paint up for him to do some damage. Theoretically.

Melo and Amare playing a 2 on 2 set would be deadly. YOu have to double either to stop leaving many open looks for others.

Amare tends (with historical success mind you!) to get the ball and attack the basket!

Unlocking the potential (1+1=3)of Amare and Melo is the key to woodsons success. He has to progress beyond MDA's inability to do so to reach greater success!

I love the highlights involving passing between Youtube Melo and Youtube Stat. That's the kind of synergy I'm expecting this upcoming season.

Me too . They have shown flashes. I think finally having a full training campe together is going to help them play together like that on a more consistant basis. I'm expecting a MVP type season from Melo and STAT to state with his play "I'M ON THE DECLINE! YEAH RIGHT!"

Sneak peek at Camp Olajuwon where pivot hopefuls Amare Stoudemire and Javale McGee learn from the great one.

Of course Amare is the one with the short shorts.

What the heck is Javale McGee doing there? Amare's spending all that money and he's not getting one-on-one lessons?

Naw, Javale just signed a new reasonable contract. WE are there so when he breaks out and becomes a top 5 center and can opt out in 3 years we can over pay him.

We just inflating our investment now!

I saw a short Vid of STAT and Javale working on spin moves with Hakeem and they both look very fluid. Of course it's always easy when no on is defending you. I think it's gonna make STAT a much more dangerous player if he can add a little of the moves. I believe in STAT. Some media think it's all a publicity stunt, but IMO STAT has always been a guy that was serious about trying to get better, even if it's only offensively :)

Yes, if Stat is healthy, has a nice wedding, does not get to strong, but not to weak, his back is good, is quick, in shape, has family tragity, and can get the proper spacing with Tyson and Melo he should have a great season!

I am rooting for him to return with a vengence!

Same for Melo.

He has no injury, a coach that loves him, PG's that know their place in the food chain, and a wonderful smiley face I expect him to also do well.

I thought Tyson was also going to get some Hakeem love? I thought the work with him was to be at the knick facility? Maybe this just a primer?

Its funny because last year he wore funky long shorts. He said they helped him keep his back right. Whatever, guy can practice in a thong if he comes back with a dream shake next year.
