Exactly! Their stories are actually getting started. Just two seasons ago Lebron was waiting for his real chance with a truly contending team. Last season he got his championship.

Eternally pessimistic Knicks fans may not like to accept this, but just two seasons ago Melo was waiting for his real chance with a truly contending team.

As of today he may be in the most talented and deep team he's ever been. This team has the tools to be a top defensive team with a balanced offensive attack. This team has the solid scoring options off the bench that contending teams usually do. This team has a solid second option in Amar'e and a third solid one in Felton. This is also his team to lead.

If we are blessed enough to have a completely healthy team for the playoff run, this could be THE SEASON for Carmelo.

If there's a Bird / Magic rivalry in the league right now, it's Durant / Lebron.

Melo is not in the conversation.

This is kinda like how people used to compare Vince Carter or Tracy McGrady to Kobe.

I'll give you Durant. Melo is 28. Ewing didn't make it to his 1st NBA Finals until 31. Charles Barkley didn't make it to his 1st NBA Finals until 30. Karl Malone, 33. David Robinson, 34. Olajuwon, 31. Let's give Melo the next 3 years with this core before we give him the death sentence.
