Though, as well as spite/tantrum, he was probably playing for time because he had to sort out the Felton trade, and also investigate if any teams would be willing to trade for Lin on that contract come January (one article said he did consider signing Lin, if we could find a deal to trade him when he became eligible)

I don't get why people keep saying that us announcing we'd match any contract was a mistake- its standard practice, teams usually say it whether its true or not, to put off other teams from even bothering to try to sign them.

Why cant' we trade for Paul? Any team can trade for anyone if they have the chips. Knicks give away their chips because of owner hissy fits.
