I dont think people are doggin Felton, just the move of replacing Lin with him. Im not thrilled about it either

I had to think about it for a second....and I realized that Felton is light years ahead of Lin, as a point guard. Lin is a better playmaker, and knows how to make plays for himself, with a clutch gene. But as far as running a team, like a traditional pg....it's not even close.

People have different body types and Felton is a thick guy. He's always gonna have more mass than a kid like Brandon Jennings. I believe that Felton is HUNGRY for another chance and he's gonna take this extremely serious. I think he knows that he's replacing a guy that was very popular and he can't afford to come in and not perform. Also this is a team that he knows will be in the playoffs with a chance to do big things. I don't see any way he isn't ready for this big opportunity.

And the latest on Feltons contract is that it is for $14mil over 4 years- the same as Lin would have got in 1 year!

Felton reminds me at this point of Tony Gwynn who was a great fat looking center fielder

EDIT: and Kirby Puckett

all things being equal (both guys healthy and in shape) Felton is probably a better fit. Better defender and will take better care of the ball.

But by running a team... do you mean dribbling up the court, handing the ball to Melo on the elbow and waiting in the corner for a 3? We already had Charlie Ward here... not inspiring.

Lin has better court vision and playmaking skills. Lin can really make guys better. Felton is a nice role player, Lin has a chance to be a bigtime scorer and playmaker.

Why not let them compete for the job? Is there a downside to that?

That all being said Felton is coming off a year of 11ppg and 6assist and 40% give or take. Light years ahead? Bit of a stretch no?

Amare is coming off a bad year too but people still have high hopes for him and view him still as a top player, no?

Shows how much Felton really wanted to come back to NY. I'm not saying he would get top dollar elsewhere but he probably could have done better.

The way Woody is likely to have the team play, it won't matter that Felton isn't the same player as Lin. All that matters now is that Felton can execute what Woody's game plan is for this year. Last year Woody had no choice but to kind of play it half MDA and Half Woody, but this year he can fully install his own system. I don't know exactly what that will be, but I can assume that it will be an Old School dump it into the post type of offense. Probably not a lot of motion, but some curls or cuts to clear out the strong side for a post up for Melo or STAT. Double teams will likely lead to a few scoring opportunities for the role players. Throw in a dash of PnR with Tyson or Camby. I'm not expecting much, but a motivated Felton can surely handle that kind of role.

We're looking at close to 40 shot attempts going to Melo and STAT every night. With the likely slower pace you'll get fewer shots overall and so the Role players won't really have a lot of shots to begin with. Felton just has to take care of the ball and play hard on D. Woody learned under LB and so he watched Billups stand out at the 3pt line and orchestrate. There wasn't a lot of PG penetration. Mostly Curls for Rip and Post ups for Wallace. When the defense collapsed 3's for Billups and Prince. Very basic halfcourt offense.

the fact that you can't even have an unrelated thread without some tool here bringing him up make me think that rational minds are few and far between. Bunch of emotionally weak, angst riddled people. I mean, how many times can you argue the same shyt

Lin's average salary is a little over $8 mil per year I'm not talking about average salary. He's getting a payaday of $14.8 mil in year 3. If he's going to get paid like a star PG than the comparisons to the elite PG's who are in the same pay range is more than fair.

Photo from Ray Felton at Summer League today. He looks to be in better shape now than some of the other ones. I have a feeling Ray will come in to camp in really good shape. He's got something to prove. (I still think Lin is the vastly superior player, but Ray will be good here.)

Vastly Superior?

Jeremy Lin will be a pine brother in Houston by January. Remember the second time that Deron Williams visited?

Linsanity only happens once.

Then why did he beat the Pacers twice in a row?

I like what I'm hearing from Felton in his interview with Breen. He acknowledged he was out of shape last year and he said he looks forward to proving his critics wrong.

Get real. Jeremy Lin had some help.

It would have been nice to have Mr 85 Per Cent for the playoffs.

So when he loses it's all Lin and when he wins it's a team game?

Man, you spin more than the Garden's PR people.
