My sources tell me that Melo meant nothing bad here. He meant it was ridiculous how underpaid Lin would be relative to his own and Amare's contracts.

Melo said the correct thing. What I don't understand is why Lin restructured the deal again after the Knicks said they would match it. I'm not sure Lin wanted to be a Knick as bad as some here think he did. Sorry guys but Lin screwed the Knicks over big time. He put a dagger into the team that gave him the shot and twisted it.

Why is JR opening his fat mouth? Why is Jared Jeffries opening his fat mouth? Why is Tyson Chandler? This witchhunt for Melo is borderline ridiculous, Lin would've been playing Pro-Am ball in the Philippines for San Miguel Beer and Lumpia egg rolls if Melo doesn't tell D'Antoni to put him in the NJ game.

Um, because Lin wants more money? Nothing wrong with that. With luxury tax considerations, the Knicks are basically paying Kobe's salary for the third year if they want to keep Lin around.

Syniko wrote:I knew Melo was poisonous to the Knicks and now he's calling Lin's offer ridiculous. Seriously? Melo, just shut the **** up, man. You're not supposed to say anything but thanks to your two cents, you may as well strap Lin down on a gurney and push him out of the building.

This guy is a barrel of douche. He had the gall to say "Don't blame me if Lin don't return to the Knicks" after he made his statement. Lin is your teammate. Why the hell does it matter if an offer is ridiculous???? You're a teammate, not some financial specialist.

True colors are being shown and Lin knows it.

Lin isn't going to be a Knick next season because there are players on his team who are just too stupid to give a damn. I'm looking at you, Melo, you fat moron.

what, everyone in their right mind knows the deal was ridiculous. He'll be making Rondo money which, he has yet to earn, upside or no upside. Whats wrong in saying it. I notice you didn't mention that Melo said and has said all along that he DID want Lin back. And to Blame Melo for the possible loss of Lin make absolutely no sense and makes you look like a hater. Also JR SMITH said don't blame me, not Melo.

Houston wanted him badly enough to overpay. End of story.

the fact that you can't even have an unrelated thread without some tool here bringing him up make me think that rational minds are few and far between. Bunch of emotionally weak, angst riddled people. I mean, how many times can you argue the same shyt

Nothing wrong with more money, but the restructuring of the contract which basically was for the same amount and wrap it up in the last year of contract was saying, I hope the Knicks don't match.

Since we're neck-deep in another torch Melo thread, here's a question I've always wanted to ask the vocal anti-Melo crowd:

When he hit those two clutch threes against the Bulls, were you happy or upset?

Boomer and Carton are saying the same thing right now about the restructured deal.

Exactly. Maybe Lin Lovers should take a step back, take a breath, and maybe see that Lin isn't innocent in all this? $15mill is still $15mill, it's more than Rajon Rondo for god's sakes!

How was it saying that? How do you know it wasn't saying, "I hope the Knicks match and I want the extra $5 mil"? I'm not saying you're wrong but you presented no evidence for your conclusion.

I guess you have to ask yourself, why was the contract restructured to have the poison pill in year 3?

For cap purposes, Lin’s three-year salary would count as an average for Houston, or $8.4 million a year. But the Knicks would be charged the full amount in 2014-15, costing them $50 million to $60 million in a combination of salary and luxury taxes - Howard Beck, NYT

Carmelo Anthony Has Freedom Of Speech

“It’s not up to me. It’s up to the organization to say that they want to match that ridiculous contract.”

Who says that paying a 25 game NBA rookie $60M is ridiculous?

PREACH EARL PREACH!!! 25 games only man, and this guy will be making more than proven MVPS/all stars Nash, Rondo, and Tony Parker!

Why do I have to ask that? He wanted more money. That's all the extra money indicates. Getting paid more money doesn't indicate which team you want to play on. It's not like the Rockets had the option of giving him $25 mil without the so called "poison pill"

Last time I looked Lin ws making 5mm this year and 5mm next year. 2015 is a long ways a way--this fake noise of having to pay Lin 30mm in 3 yeras is ludicrous. Anyone here can guarantee me we have the same roster in 3 years? Makes 0 sense--you dont even have to have it on your radar--and this is coming from a team that paid eddy Curry 25mm his last year with taxes for him to sit at home
