Who cares if HOU gives Lin 14mil in year 3. It means nothing to the Knicks as a team because we would be over the cap anyway. The only person who takes a hit is Dolan. In reality, Dolan probably already made more off Lin than he would have to pay for in Luxury tax anyway.

If they wanted Lin they should of put a Max deal on a 4th year

wow. Houston front office is so messed up. Morey really just wants to screw other teams.

He insisted on Jorts to cut him?

Upped the third year to make the knicks hurt? Cut the fourth year so that the knicks won't have Lin on a budget? wow.

My suggestion is to embrace the starphuck. Although I wouldn't give Lin a 'max' contract, that max amount in year 3 messes with our cap space that year. Might as well get down and dirty with it.

1) Immediately call the Magic and offer Amare and Chandler for a re-signed Howard, Turk and J. Rich. If accepted, then its on. Embrace the starphuck:

2) Immediately match Lin's offer sheet. Also, call Luis Scola and offer him a vets min contract that is pretty much starting in NY.

3) Match Field's offer.


Lin/Kidd/Gaucho
Smith/Richardson/Fields/White
Melo/Turk
Scola/Novak
Howard/Camby

Shump

Just doing a little checking and it looks like if you go iver the apron, ir 4M iver the tax threshold, the penalties get very severe and there aren't just monetary penalties but also penalties that effect ability to sign players.
