Chandler/Camby
Amare/Jefferies
Melo/Novak/White
Smith/
Lin/Kidd

Team is still pretty thin actually after the Camby trade. I honestly hope we can still get another guard and forward.

Pretty thin? You just listed 10 players and the 11th will be a 3rd string PG. Temporary SG is the easiest position to fill in the NBA.

Also you could easily place White after smith at sg.

I think they will unless they can cut salaries/trade him or lower salary with a trade involving their big 4.
Lakers still needs a bench, to fill while their payroll with Nash, is 90m+ this season, and 70m+ *without Bynum's salary cause he is a FA*
That is a lot of $ and Metta World Piece has become a tweener PF/SF, instead of the versatile defender he use to be.

He still has game left in him but he is nearly the player he once was, and is not worth paying 7-8m for 2 more years, when are much over the tax bracket.
He found his 3point shot late last season, unable to find his shot from the lock out for almost the entire season.
I know that this is something Lakers must consider doing, not sure if they will actually amnesty him though.
Jordan Hill and Sessions, can play a much bigger role on their bench, and would both cost less than MWP.
They will have to decide, if they want to keep those players, with some youth, but at a higher price, or veteran min/undrated players to fill their roster.

He is very strong BUT SLOW like a turtle now, making him closer to a undersized PF, with the ability to spread the floor.
With 2 year's left on his deal, if he gets amnestied, a team under the cap might pick his contract up for 1-2m.
Because of his "history", there is a chance they would probably not want to deal with a nut case, as he could clear waivers.

If he does get amnestied, clears waivers, I think I would rather have MWP back in NY, than Rashard Lewis.
He is still a post option, can hit the wide open 3point shots, and would be fan favorite with Camby/Tyson, and Iman defensively.
Having a body to rough up Lebron would be my #1 reason for getting acquiring his talents if all this happens....

Delonte West
Gaines
Keyon Dooling
Willie Green
Raja Bell
Livingston
ReDD

Pietrus
Terrence Williams
Donte Green
Kapono
Mo Evans

Anthony Tolliver
Rashard Lewis
Metta World Peace *I would be VERY SURPRISED if he doesn't get waived this year*
Luke Walton

Kenyon Martin
Haddayi

RonRon - There are nine guaranteed contracts, not counting Lin. That leaves five spots. Two active roster spots.

The only player from your list worth a look is Rashard Lewis. The rest are garbage.

What do you want with VETERAN MINIMUM players?
you are not getting a mini MLE + player to play for a 1 year vet minimum.

Lin
Shumpert
Melo
Amare
Chandler

Kidd
JR
White
Camby

Jeffries ?????
________ ??????
________ ???????

2-3 active spots, depending on the fate of JJ

3 players inactive players
------------------------------
I think we should pick up players in D League/Undrafted players to fill these 3 spots up

We are paying these veterans, especially Kidd, to mentor, he is a HOF player that we should get a worthy apprentice for.
Same for Chandler/Camby, all 3 are legit leaders/veterans in what they do, to make up for loss of 2nd round picks/home grown talent for cheap.
Signing young players with potential that learn of these veterans, whether D leaguers, and/or undrafted for 2 years with team options.

As for Kidd, I would even start opening up a role for him to become an assistant coach, in the future, if he he has interest.
He has a house new Long Island already, he would be a great coach with his experience.

Q. RonRon - What do you want with VETERAN MINIMUM players?

A. (A guy who would look great in the orange and blue uniform)

Pablo Prigioni.

he doesn't want to play for 400k, he wants close to 1m-800k in which we can't give him without using any exemptions.
Assuming we cannot S&T for Kidd, we have to use the only exemption on Kidd.

So we only have veteran minimum deals or undrafted FAs.

There was talk that he would sign for 700k. Do the Knicks have this to offer him? I know the vet minimum not sure what undrafted free agents minimum is.

I think it's pretty likely that Jeffries is a target.

I wouldn't mind grabbing Ronnie Brewer.

Sounds like Mike James may be a target as well.

I'm in the camp that believes some interesting names will be available for the minimum later in the summer when the money dries up and guys who thought they were getting big deals have to sign for the minimum.

Knicks can offer a SG who is bummed he didn't get a better deal PLENTY of playing time and exposure.

I think it'll be fine and the roster will be filled out by camp with a few more interesting names.

I'd like to give Michael Redd a shot if a younger better option isn't available. I think guys like Pietrus and Brewer will be too costly.

This only the VET MIN to offer, I don't understand what you are saying.
Vet Min, goes by how many years you have been in the league, I think 10 years is max pay at 1.4m or so.
Other than that, we can only add players by trade, in which probably will not happen.

C Chandler
PF Stoudemire
SF Anthony
SG Smith
PG Lin
6th Kidd
7th Camby
8th Novak
9th White (until Shumpert comes back)

This is likely our rotation at the beginning of the season. Once Shumpert comes back, he will likely move into a 6th or 7th man spot and knock White out. He could become a starter again and Smith to 6th man, but probably not right away. Basically at this point we are just looking for players who can provide depth outside of the rotation.

Jeffries is obviously ideal as the 10th man. Also should target a 3rd center, a backup SG (Bogans, Willie Green, Brewer, Weems) and a 3rd string PG. That puts us at the active roster of 13, with Shumpert on the reserve list.

We can still do a sign and trade. I wasn't talking about only the vet minimum. If a S&T can't be worked I'd be good with Redd.

Looks like Grant Hill might go to the Lakers but I would make an offer. I believe he would be great for team chemistry and and a forward who can create his own shot off the dribble, unlike Novak.
