Melo wasn't going to FA without a deal, especially with an uncertain cba, and this is beating a dead horse.
Nalod agree's that Melo did what was best for him, I think.
But we made a horrible decision to trade for Melo, with all do respect, than just signing a FA with the cap space in the summer.
Melo did not fit a "need" that many suggest, while not paying the right price....
We can only blame ourselves or Dolan, is it our KNicks or his?
Melo was a Net or a Knick. He wasn't going to become a free agent with the lockout and new cba pending. He wasn't going to be a free agent in December of 2011 after the cba was worked out. He would have been a net.
so let it be, HE DID NOT FILL A NEED. Without Melo, we probably would have been in Cp3/Deron sweepstakes, possible DH as well.
The NEed was a player to fill up a billboard. Amare has never been a alpha type marketing brand.
Melo has the smile, the wife and a more outgoing personality. Few players have this kind of Charisma.
Ron, your looking at the construction of the team and thinking it has to be a legit contender to sell tickets and raise viewership.
The on court product is important but not the only thing.
Go look at Bernard Kings tenure here. The wins and losses were nothing great. We had a nice run one year but never really contending. But his scoring run captivated the fans. This is what a star can do on the court.
Melo addresses the need for MSG.
82 games is a long season!
