Mind you, if Houston are letting dragic walk (essentially the same player as Lin) because they wouldn't go up to $8 or $9mil, don't see them offering Lin any more than that.

Hope you are right. Anything over 10mil and I dont think the Knicks match

you do realize that the most anyone can offer lin in year 1 is $5M and year 2 is $5M?

and the total MAX contract ANYONE can offer lin is 4yrs $36M?

I thought the MAX could be $40 - 5/5/15/15... no?

Oh damn I forgot. But then why bother meeting with other teams? So he can secure 5mil from the knicks?

Because Grunwald essentially told his agents - "we'll match whatever the market price is, but we want to see the price the market sets."

So he basically told Lin to visit other teams - which I don't like. But I get why they did it. But I feel like it's a bad idea, even though I firmly believe the Knicks will match on Lin.

The main logic is that the Knicks really have no other options. Certainly not any better options. Sure, bring in Kidd or Felton as a backup or whatever, but Lin is the best starter they can get.

Stupid thing to do. Grunwald should have signed Lin to 4 year 25M or something like that.

You would prefer the Knicks overbid up front?

Lin is going nowhere without the Knicks permission.

It would have cost us nothing to have offered him a reasonable deal upfront like 4 yrs 25M. If he didn't take that and tested the market that's OK, but we should have offered him that, we had nothing to lose.

Perhaps they did and Lin's agent is doing his job?

Hopefully. In my opinion Lin is worth $10m per with all the insane the contracts that are going around. Yes it was only 26games but they were at a much higher level than what scrubs like Fields, Asik are getting paid for. And PG is a premium position. Shame our own fans and media dont see that

Then I would take back what I said, about it being a stupid thing to do. But based on the reports Grunwald asked his agent to go test the market.

Let's get this straight: if Lin's agent doesn't test the market he should be fired. LIN asked his agent to test the market and that's all there is to it.

I was only responding to what Glen Grunwald reportedly did. It's a moot point, but he is still supposed to make reasonable offer first. I have no issues with Lin or his agent testing the market.

But if Houston gets him, don't they get to spread it evenly? Not sure but I think I read that somewhere. The 15, 15 will hurt.

5, 5, 15, 15

only really hurts us (if Lin is not Linsanity) in the 3rd year. If the 4th, it becomes a huge trading commodity, no?
