Really U dont think a roster starting like this for example this year could compete for a championship
in another year OR 2.

Dwight Howard
Kenyon Martin
Gerald Wallace
Joe Johnson
Deron Williams

Kidd

You do know Howard just had back surgery, Joe Johnson is 31 and gradually declining, Gerald Wallace has yet to play a full 82 games, Jason Kidd is 39 and ready for retirement, K-Mart is 34 and one knee injury away from ending his career right?

If Howard is healthy and Deron plays like he did in Utah, they can compete for a championship.

if you're going to Starphuch, you might as well do it right. The Nets are teaching the Knicks how to straphuch properly--and in our own backyard

This is better than Marbury or Randolph or Melo. Somewhere, Dolan must be throwing a temper tantrum

I hope Carmelo and Amare actually care about winning and are paying attention to this.

Nope. It looks like a relatively easy lineup for the Heat to guard if you ask me. Lets just assume Wade declines a lot and Joe Johnson continues at his pace. They cross each other out. If Wade doesn't decline much at all and his health/head comes back... then forget it. LeBron can stick Williams easy if Chalmers can't handle Deron that much. Udonis and Bosh will not have the edge over Dwight, but I don't see him beasting them. Heck, Dwights defense might become useless if Bosh and Haslem hit those shots and that's not a big if, because they are good shooters... at least Bosh is.

That team wont be contending for sheot.

It's interesting, because the Nets would hand the Knicks there ass with this team. And if they resign Green and add one one more veteran off the bench what's to say they can't beat Miami who is vulnerable against dominant big man and elite point guards.

The Celtics got considerably better adding Melo, Sullinger and about to retain Jeff Green. The Knicks are the same team as last season, which was a shade above average.

Look for the Knicks to trade Shumpert, Fields and Douglas for Nash and then bring in Camby once things go down with the Nets.

When exactly did Joe Johnson cease having one of the worst contracts in pro sports? When did Deron Williams rediscover his willingness to actually improve the play of his teammates? And Dwight's disc problems, those are a thing of the past?

Good for the Nets if they pull it off and they'll certainly be legit, but let's not pretend this is the Justice League of America forming here. The willingness of us Knicks fans to drop deuces on our players at the first sight of our neighbor's shiny new car is discouraging.

You think the Nets acquired gerald wallace because they knew they'd need a contract to send to olando.to make the money work? Maybe the Magic were behind it. If so very savy. trading the 6th pick for howard is nothing ljke trading a $40mil contract.

We have our Amare question mark, as well as Shumpert, and Chandler's fire and hustle in a 7 ft body makes him injury prone. Add to this the fact that Anthony rarely plays a season without injury (on average, he misses about 10 games/yr), and you have a roster with many question marks.

The Nets would have 3-5 years to win it all (which is as good or better than what we are looking at with the Knicks) if everyone stays healthy, and they would be a magnet for decent veterans looking to find a team to help win a title. Putting a top 3 PG with a top 3 C is always a prescription for success.

Lebrons 3 worst shooting games of the season all came against the Magic

Come on. I live in New England and no one believes this, even die-hard Green Teamers. Sullinger has upside, but his injury history and style of play are major question marks. Melo has the IQ of a bag of dead kittens (this pick is panned pretty heavily up here) and Jeff Green, when he was healthy, did what exactly? Plus, there's a very real possibility of Ray Allen walking out the door. That team is--at best--marginally better. (Of course they still have our number and always will as long as Pierce is playing).

As with all teams, you are looking at potential. You start with the idea that everyone will be healthy and play at the top of their respective games. You can critique the Knicks in the same way by examining Anthony's selfishness and Amare's physical readiness.

By the way- someone with the worst contract in the league can still be a piece of a championship puzzle. Atlanta f'd up big time in making him the cornerstone on their team, but he is still a good player, and will be better if the Nets have Howard, Wallace, and Williams surrounding him.

By NO means do I want to see this mess take place. Personally, I don't think the Dwight trade to BK will ever happen.

I am also hoping that Deron WIlliams doesn't re-up with the Nets.

I may have been born and raised in Brooklyn, but I will ALWAYS be a KNICKS fan. I've hated the Nets for so long, and this would be an absolute nightmare. The only "rivalry" I want to see between the Knicks and the Nets is the NYK kicking the Nets' asses up and down the court.

"Casual" Knicks fans? Anyone who would switch up on their team wre never a real fan of that team, anyway. Fickle fans are views as subhuman to me, and I couldn't care less about them.

The few Nets fans I know are starting the tough talk already. I take all comeers and don't back down, but these chump Nets fans shouldn't be given any reason to beat their chests, and them getting Dron back, along with Joe Jophnson AND D12 wouldn't be a good look. Yuck.

No way the New York Knicks lets the pool-putt Nyets come into town and take over. Not going to happen.

Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

I agree with what you're saying--I just hate playing the hindsight game and using it as a cudgel to bludgeon the Knicks. Most of us were feeling pretty optimistic when STAT signed and then played like a legit MVP candidate for much of the first year. It's easy now to disparage that signing looking at his rotten year last year as well as his hand-to-hand combat with a fire extinguisher. I personally think he'll bounce back and become that 20/10 guy at 50% FG we need him to be. But maybe I'm just a dopey Pollyanna. Just like I think Carmelo has it in him to be more consistently like the due who tore up the league at the end of 2012. Again, perhaps I'm optimistic to a fault. And Tyson is Tyson, a selfless, defensive beast who everyone should get behind and pull for.

I'm just saying I'm tired of the constant green-grass-grazing that seems to go on here. We've got the makings of a good team--and a potentially great one if Nash comes here--so let's roll with it.

I think the Nets thriving is great news. It would force Dolan to actually build a legit team or get rid of the Knicks. It also gives us another NY option (dare I say it!)!

I honestly don't understand this post. What more do you want him to do ...... What realistic moves would you rather have seen the last two years??? Also talk about changing teams is pathetic

Wow. Didn't realize there were so many flaccid fans here. By all means, go root for the Nets. And if Howard's spinal column snaps and Joe Johnson underperforms you can jump over to the Knicks for a stretch. It's a win/win!
