yeah, this sounds promising if the Suns were to bite:

Alan Hahn ‏@alanhahn

Knicks absolutely do not want to give up Shumpert. But, yes, if you add Landry to S&T scenario you can get close to $10M. Suns interested?

Source says Toronto's reported 3-year, $36M offer made to Steve Nash this morning is "false.''

Is the possibility 10 mill. due to the the 150% rule? I am not sure though. It is very clear why the knicks did not draft anyone state side.

I can't imagine it being just Landry for Steve. I don't know how we could even make the salaries match. Maybe Landry plus Tony plus Iman for Steve. Maybe we'd have to pick up the option on Gadz to include him in the deal too.

Gadz can be traded and then waived at no cap impact. he's a great little trade chip. knicks don't have to pick up an option, they can trade him and the receiving team can waive him. (that's what's been reported at least)

It would probably take fields and TD, but we then get much older, our window gets much more narrower, and we lose future trade chips....AGAIN

that said, i think Nash or his team are probably spreading these things to get more money out of phoenix or toronto.

no way phoenix trades nash for fields. better to let him go for nothing.

It would be probably Landry and Toney like you said but with Gadz and Jordan. They can cut the last two and save a little over 2 mill. and then save more when Toney come off the cap. They will not trade Shump.

1.3
(760,000+)
6.96 X 150%= 10.44

I think that is how it works. Not sure.

the Suns are not trading the face of their franchise for that crap plate from the knicks.

i think it'd be better PR for the team to just let Steve leave. WHY would they trade him for Fields and Toney? WHAT POSSIBLE ADVANTAGE DOES THAT GIVE THEM? Fields and Toney are useless cap killers.

Our window doesn't get narrower if we get Nash. We go from a room without windows to a room with one small, narrow window.

It's gonna have to include Fields and Shumpert at a minimum, which is fine.

If he walks they get nothing..

but... isn't it better PR to say Nash left us? or are they able to spin it as, "hey we got a few prospects"

No. It's better PR to say "We helped out a Suns icon go to a better situation for this stage in his career and got some young assets in return".

My opinion, no. Most fans understand what happened to Cleveland after LeBron. "Sign and trade" has been a popular phrase after that situation. I think fans will understand that they had to get something in return.

Exactly, some fans think Bosh signed with Mia in FA but it was a "Sign & Trade".

Can Field's be packaged with other players as part of a sign and trade?

I thought he could only go by himself because of his own free agenet status.
