Having a healthy team in the playoffs would be an upgrade.

I think they will add a good piece for backcourt depth though.

...ouch yellowboy...only uneducated ppl want jr...lol...geez a lil extreme

Ill admit jr is a headcase but i wouldnt mind him back...as long as we dont overpay for him

Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

But here’s the thing, even in a down year, Smith was 56th last season in spot-up efficiency and 34th in transition.

In 2010, he was the 8th best spot up player in the NBA, shooting a Novak like 46.6 percent on 3s!!! He was also 6th off-screens and 4th in dribble hand-offs.

In 2009, he was 38th in spot-up efficiency and the best player in the NBA on “cuts”…..

Team him up with a healthy Lin and he is great. The key to Smith is playing off the ball and not being asked to be pg.

That's not necessarily a bad thing- at least it gives us continuity. Every year we've had amjor changes, it's time to try sticking with something and being a bit more patient. Most of the teams that did well and went far last season had been together for years. No one foresaw the Sixers, pacers and Celtics doing as well as they did because it's easy to under rate how familiarity can improve a team.

Considering Lin only played 26games. Melo & Amare missing a ton of games and only being full strength under woodson for 7 games where they went 6-1. I'd say we are adding 2 vets plus 3 stars!

Sure, if he knew how to stick to his strengths he'd be good. But he's shown he doesn't.
Do you have links for those stats?

Same ass team finished the regualar season 18-6. I'll roll with the same ass team if they're healthy and come to camp ready to play.

It'll be the same team PLUS a needed addition. That is something to look forward to!!! As others have said when healthy the team was really good! In the East this team is top 3 IMO. What else could we hope for given the options we had?

It all depends on what Grunwald can get done this FA period. At least we have some money to sign people and there are a lot of good role players out there.

No I'm not on a rage I just wish that the NBA was more like the baseball association. As rich as the Knicks is the league keep their foot on our neck. If we wanted to pay 200 million on a player we should be able to. It's the American way. I'm upset because we are stuck and the Heat have more wiggle room than we do and that sucks. The Heat should win 5 championships in a row with the team they have. And there is nothing we can do but go to the second round because when we face the Heat they have too many weapons. Everyone in there starting line up can drill the ball. Can we do that?? NO NO NO

Don't punch anything-
The Knicks are doing the right thing for once- not changing the entire team over and over again-
It's hard to envision the team getting better because our memory of the playoffs is from a team with no Lin and Iman - I think Lin's progress and health is the Wild card with our next couple years- The frontcourt should stay set. We have Jorts and Jerome Jordan - hopefully they can become steady role players for us- slow and steady - I think that's our best bet

If you are still following the team and reading sites like this, there is nothing, short of your own demise, that is going to throw you off this train.

The Heat will eat up Jorts and Jordan. Come on stop playing games. Who else do we have? I'm not angry I'm just a little hurt that we will be facing the Heat every year and getting our butts kicked thats all. And seeing them gloating about it.

Every league but baseball has a cap and baseball has a revenue sharing policy in place of a cap.

As a team we have very few holes in the roster when everyone is healthy. If we add a couple of solid vets that should really balance the roster.

I actually like Jorts game. If he continues to develop and get in top shape he's a solid role player. He showed good IQ, rebounding, range on his shot, a little low post game and smart team D. That's fine for 10-15 mins a game.

you are crazy, we have plenty of holes on our roster. Our players are made up of mainly one way players, with one skill set.
Look and compare rosters, even with a crappy Toronto team, they have multiple players that have multiple skill sets.

We have 1 shot blocker in TC, good rebounder, good big man, but he is an offensive liability. We literally have no other legit blocker.
Jeffries is not a stat player, he is a good defender, but he is not a good rebounder/shot blocker/ post presence, or a shooter.

1 PG, that can penetrate of the dribble that can create for others in Lin. NO backup PG.

NO SG's with JR Smith not signed. Fields is not a SG, TD is not a PG but that doesnt make him a SG either, Iman is hurt and won't be back for awhile.

We have 1 post player in Melo, but do not have the shooters to space him out. Look at how many shooters every team has, how many can put up 4 legit shooters and play their positions to spread the floor and still have shooters on their bench.

Novak is not a stretch 4, he is a great shooter that has no other skill, and is not a good defender. Mike Miller has a much better all round game than him with good size/athletisicm
and he is nothing more than a shooter. He is not a stretch 4, and neither is Novak. That is the position we put him in because that is the one he can defend the best with TC's help.

We have a bunch of names that do fit well together. It is what is, but we need to get role players that can fit make these players fit. They are a waste of roster spots, if the roster stays intact, Papa Bear is correct, we will go nowhere. It is one thing to be optimistic and another to be unrealistic. Stop lying to yourself, stop lying to us.
You swear Dantoni LOVED Novak and Lin, during the draft, yet Lin didn't get a shot to play while I was screaming for him to play with a few others.
Dantoni kept complaining about how he had bad PG play and played the same players for the whole month except for Lin and barely playing Novak when we couldn't buy a 3pointer.

Yet you support Dantoni, saying "he will play Lin, when he feels confident"
"We as fans think we know better than Dantoni, blah blah blah,"
It wasn't till Grunweld was about to cut him for Mike James did Lin break out and Dantoni was smiling .
He clearly never had faith in him and gave him a thought of giving him a chance to play.

You keep defending all the Knicks poor decisions with the coaches and GM. You are very optimistic, to a point where you are in denial or blind.

I think you have to recognize that the Knicks will only have two roster spots if they resign the guys they said they would. Similar to the draft there is only so much that they can do. The bird's rights case was a win for the Knicks and neccessitated taking a euro as there is no room on the roster. I don't think the organization has many tradeable assets or guys that they want to trade. They already went all in. Not sure what you think they should do or how they would do it.
