not sure where he got it from, but al iannazzone (hahn's replacement at newsday) think the knicks will use the full $5M MLE on someone. not sure where he got his info, but he was the only one to report the knicks might look at Kostas P (sorry i'll learn how to spell his last name if he ever comes over).
IF the knicks are using the full $5M MLE, I would LOVE LOVE LOVE OJ Mayo.
I think the kid has a LOT of untapped potential and can play some PG and some SG, so next to Shump or Lin. That'd make for a really potent 3-man guard rotation. You'd still want a veteran pure PG, but I think Mayo could be great.
He has something you can't teach and something in short supply from the Knicks perimeter players- he can create his own shot. I know he's got a bad rep, but I've always liked his attitude.
I think this would be a way to get a real bluechip talent for low money, even at $5M per year.

I think Al is a good reporter and might be the best that covers the Knicks with Beck leaving. Some friends of mine are big Net fans and they were very disappointed when he was assigned to the Knicks.
