I agree 1000%

I think celebrities and athletes should hire PR, publicist, media savvy person to handle this for them instead of risking looking like an dickhead.

I can be wrong because I don't know Amar'e personally or who he surrounds himself with, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was in fact a PR or publicist who told him to apologize. I mean come on..he had time to think about it? That was a **** load of time. Everyone is different but when I deliver an insult of that magnitude, I usually regret it almost instantly and it doesn't take me longer than 45 minutes to issue an apology.

Agree, someone in his camp probably told him to DM the dude the apology for some damage control.

Wow! Amar'e is really an entitled prick!

The word is gratitude. "I don't have to do any thing ***" implies, besides homophobia and prejudice, entitlement.

Proper response would have been- Yes! I'm working as hard as I can!

All these are bone headed moves and indicative of someone who seems to have clouded decision making abilities as of late.

Does he, as someone who is very much into his celebrity status, become a distraction to the team going into next season?

He is attending the University of Miami for summer classes - is it really a big deal that he went to a Heat playoff game? Its not like he was supporting Miami. I am glad he was watching basketball and is interested in the game even in the off season for him.

Now the fact that he looked like a lesbian hipster while attending the game is a totally different story.

LOL at lesbian hipster. It's all about the details sometimes. A Knicks player eating out of a popcorn bucket that says "Let's Go Heat" doesn't seem right.

Yeah - I didnt catch the popcorn bucket until after my post. He probably needs to use his head a little more - he isn't stupid, but these are some bonehead moves.

I am still more offended by the gear he was rocking, he looks foolish, but I get that people don't like that he was at the game.

Amare cares more about things outside of basketball right now. Even though i have been critical of melo at least melo seems like he is pissed and getting ready for next season

Didn't a lot of celebrities used to not read the paper, knowing they couldn't handle the criticism? Now there's Twitter and Facebook and blog posts and comments and even a couple of forums still hanging around... I know you have to do Twitter to be in, but I don't know about all of this stuff sometimes... and I work in web development. It all seems to encourage hasty judgments and poor impulse control.

NBA is investigating this now. If Amare is fined Stern needs to fine himself for his Jim Rome interview. Old lawyer trick or not, I think most married men would be less offended being called a fag in a confrontation/argument as opposed to a wife beater. Saying something offensive isn't ok because you can say it was cerebral.

The people here over react at times some.

So the guy can't go with his wife to enjoy a game. At the end of the day for him this is his business/job and he wants to enjoy a night out. Final. He may even be friends with people there and is supposedly from florida. Again why the hate? For us as fans maybe but I guess I see it from another perspective.

The twitter thing. Fine for what. Obviously it hit a nerve in amare. He feels like crap for what he's showed on the court and that tweet was the bullet needed for the gun.

He should give him a court side gm for damage control.

Amar'e is working out twice a day, working on his post game and cardio- his focus is already on preparing for next season, while most basketball players are resting at this point in the offseason. He is pissed and is getting ready for next season.

Like I said on the other thread, some fans seem to think they can post any abuse on twitter to any player. There's a big difference between arguing about a player on a message board, and then actually going and sending that abuse to them. Plus its cowardly- this clown insulted Amar'e, (which he'd never dare do to his face), then when Amar'e insulted him back, he went crying to the media to tell on him. I just think it's lame.

This latest F' up no matter where you rank it speaks to Stoudemire's poor decision making. I believe we've seen too many poor decisions on and off the court the last few seasons. How Stat played when he first got here feels like a lifetime away.

We know that Stat has pushed himself hard to rehab whenever he gets hurt but its not enough anymore. If he isn't gone by the end of summer he needs to get back to something resembling the contribution Stat made when he first got here. Not necessarily playing the same way but doing whatever the team needs to get a W.
