We traded LaMarcus Aldridge and Joakim Noah for Eddy Curry. We also traded Nene and Marcus Camby for a broken down Antonion McDyess. We also traded Patrick Ewing and his expiring contract for a washed-up Glen Rice and a bunch of terrible, long-term contracts. Hell, this isn't even the worst move the Nets have mad, they're almost certainly going to lose Deron Williams to free agency; they'll have traded Derrick Favors and two(?) first rounders to rent Deron Williams for a season and a half.

They're no longer owned by the NBA, they were bought by Drew Benson who also owns the New Orleans Saints.

Arthur Andersen performed the same function for Enron. If this were the only incident that made people scratch their heads I would see your point.

Worst refs in sports who almost always seem to come down on the side of the team who would bring in the higher ratings, its not like this isn't the first time people have wondered what the hell is going on with the NBA. I didn't expect the Bobcats to get it because the worst team usually doesn't win, just seems too tidy.

they did put it behind closed doors but isn't a representative from each team also behind that closed door with E&Y?

Yes, but that doesn't mean they can't rig the Lottery. State lotteries have been rigged with weighted balls to achieve the desired results. I can't say for a fact that it was rigged but when you have execs saying that its going to happen and it does happen, its hard not to wonder if something is up.

They have been in good shape cap wise for several years. They also used to have a stockpile of draft picks. They tried to make some moves, gave up a lot of assets and now are left with cap space. I don't think any big name free agent is going to Brooklyn if D-Will leaves. And this year some of the lesser guys may have better options. I don't see them having two stars or making the playoffs next year.

I think you're wrong. Not saying they get to the playoffs, but they should get good players, and improve.

"It's such a joke that the league made the new owners be at the lottery for the show," one high-ranking team executive told Yahoo! Sports. "The league still owns the Hornets. Ask their front office if new owners can make a trade right now. They can't. This is a joke."

I actually hope D-will signs with Jersey Brooklyn and builds with them.

I just didn't want the Nets to have a top three pick to trade for Dwight. I'm hoping this is another step in the direction of making the Knicks the best option like we had with Denver.

Step 2 is the Lakers owner stepping up and putting his father like love for Bynum in writing with a fat new contract, while telling the league he isn't on the market.

Step 3 is steal the socks......

Step 5 is take over the world!!!!!!

and they have some media there as well.

Why behind closed doors? They don't want some owner going nuts on TV?

Im sure every team has a "conspiracy" the media would paint if they won.

Bobcats: Stern helping Jordan out.
Hornets: League owns the team and cut a deal with Benson.
Wiz: Need the DC team to get good again
Nets: Promise to make a splash if they move.

So on and so on..........

Its good the hornets get it. New ownership and the team has shown it can draw when it wins.

Better if the BObcats got it.

Davis could end up breaking his leg and the no. 2 pick can be a star.

Its happend before.

As far as the Nets are concerned, Lots of teams make big mistakes and recover.

IN fact, all teams "Bo Bo" from time to time.

They took the position that Wallace was better than any anyone below the top 3 picks.

I agree about the rigged refs, but I doubt the lottery was anything but a lucky 13% chance. It looks bad, but probably is just luck.

You might be right. My POV is if the league is willing to have the refs rig games in plain sight, what aren't they willing to do? Maybe they don't have the capability the way the lottery is set up but you never know.

It's not like the refs determine the outcome of games. They just influence momentum with their calls or no-calls. The players still determine the final outcome. But yes, it sucks and makes the "game" more about being an entertainment product/biz and less about pure competition. Unlike other sports, the refs in hoops don't seem to care about the egregious blunders...they take it in stride. I hate Stern and hope he goes away for good one of these days.

They may not succeed in rigging games outright but in effect that's what they're attempting to do by trying to shift the momentum to the team which would draw more viewers. I agree its more entertainment than pure competition. Former ref Tim Donaghey said as much in an interview recently about the game and talked about how refs try to influence the outcome..

Lottery could just be a coincidence but it all just seems to fit too perfectly for me. I get it, conspiracies are childish or whatever but I dont trust the Stern or the NBA. It's all about making money, no? I called it a while back that New Orleans would land the pick.

I feel the same way. We are not too high on the hill to be looking down on others.

It has not been that long.

Very True. I mean im a diehard Knick Fan but some people make it seem like we have plenty of time but we dont. Right now the melo trade hasn't worked out the way we thought it woul and Amare/Tyson arent getting any younger. If the June 13 hearing votes agianst the players then we will lose lin or novak. We also lost shump for a few months, and may lose JR Smith. I mean hopefully we get some luck but we have to win within the next couple years

Yes, of course, how can we look down on a team that was set to break records for losing? I mean, our franchise is only slightly better than the Bobcats and no where near sniffing something like (here ya go Bonny boy) Denver's magnificence.

That's pretty much my feeling as well; it's pretty hypocritical to make fun of other franchises bad decisions considering what's gone on with the Knicks since 2000.

Yeah, like at a dinner party your talking basketball and some one ask's: "your from NY, right? You still a knick fan?" during the Isiah years.

Ya have to laugh but to me not revel in others misery. It always comes around.

Hahahahahaha Nets are finished
