It amazes me that everyone's team leader gets a pass for not showing up in the playoffs. I guess Chandler is likeable.

STAT: D a major regression in production, poor mental lapses and the confounding inability to rebound (even accidentally)

Lin: A for a D-leaguer to do what he did is unprecedented, turnovers or not

Chandler: A+ playoffs were rough, but the man single-handedly turned around the culture of this team; the best free agent pickup in recent history

Fields: D+ always played hard and never complained, but killed the team with his horrifying jumper

JR Smith: C brutally feast or famine, but as far as I could tell, never bagged it

Shump: B+ offense needs much more work, but looks to be an elite talent already defending the perimeter; might be my favorite Knick this year

Novak: B+ high-end value for what we paid him but as one-dimensional as it gets; a hell of dimension, though

Bibby: C Not a bad grade for a reanimated corpse!

Jeffries: B gimped at the end, but seems like the only dude who ever tried to take a charge on our team

TD: D- No F, mainly because he never bitched, but everything else was a mid-air blimp wreck

Baron: D+ solid teammate, but nothing in the tank

Jorts: B loved the grit, only dude who brings memories of the '90s Knicks to mind

That was pretty darn good. I agree 90% except for Chandler and Amare. I cant give anyone an A+ while having almost no impact in the playoffs--on top of which he can score more than he does maybe an A- B+ Amare was an A+ most of last year but slipped considerably down to a C. He did not fit well and that may not be his fault. Remember last year at times the guy looked like Patrick Ewing with his 25-10's 55%

Chandler's no-show in the playoffs was disheartening. His point production was directly related to playing with a point guard. Hopefully with a steady presence at the 1 we'll see the FG% leading beast he was for most of the year. I gave him the A+ because the transformation from a pathetic defensive team to one of the top in the league is an amazing achievement and he was critical to that. DPOY is nothing to scoff at either. Still, we're probably just splitting hairs.

[Melo: B Gets the money, says all the right thing, then shyts on his coach for dimming his star and conforming to a Team concept.

Stat: C Dude came in out sorts with extra muscle and turned it around. His brother died and he was tight with him. He had another back problem. He put in the effort.

Lin: A+ For what we paid him and got him off waivers he made the season fun and gives us hope. He might not be the golden child going forward but this season he gets that grade.

Chandler: Defensive player of the year. A grade. Would give him a + if he can hit a 10 footer once in a while.

Fields: C His game is good excpet we really need him to shoot. He stayed healthy, is a good teammate, and plays hard. The Shot gotta get better!

Smith: C+ great highlights and gets hot once in a while. I expected better.

Shump: B Great rookie and really helped. Grade is based on whole season so he loses pts for bad early decision making and some erratic moments.

Novak: B+ great value, electric shot and crowd pleaser!

Bibby: C+ got much better in playoffs when we needed him!

Baron: C- don't want to be to hard on him. Great presence on bench during linsanity so he gets a strong "participation" upgrade in grade.

Jeffries: B JJ Does his job and somehow makes the team better.

Jorts: C+ for the rookie! Good job and found time in the rotation.

Bill walker: D He was good in Linsanity. Otherwise I give him a lower grade.

TD: F

Jerome Jordan: D Did not do anything. Nice kid.

MDA: D No point guard and Melo quit on him.

Woodson A He made the playoffs! Team played hard for him.

Stat put in the effort? Are we talking about the same person? You obviously are not talking about defense or don't care about defense.

Melo: B
Amare: C-
Chandler: A+
Lin: A
Fields: D
Shumpert: C+ (a lot of work needed on offense)
JR Smith: C-
Novak: B+
Jeffries: B-
Douglas: F
Baron: F
Jorts: C+

This with 3 differences

Chandler A
Jorts B- [Dudes a rookie, he showed he can play]
Shumpert B+ - He is the wildcard that may finally make the Melo trade a success

If Shumpert can develop into consistent offensive player, he and Melo can be a lethal 2-3.
With Tyson at 5 and Lin at PG we can have a really good team. Unfortunately STAT may have to be sacrificed to extend the Melo experiment.

TKF on Melo ::....he is a punk, a jerk, a self absorbed out of shape, self aggrandizing, unprofessional, volume chucking coach killing playoff loser!!

Chandler - A - Singlehandedly made us relevant defensively (Woody aside) Blocked shots! Contested people in the lane! Who was David Lee, anyway?

Melo - B- Pouted under MDA, showed flashes (sometimes for a month or two) of BK. Like the passing. Don't like the fragility. I've always liked fat people who are quick.

Stat - D - gets hurt, hurts others, finally hurts himself. Evades the F through the "fake help up" move to end the season.

Lin - A - what else you going to give him? Hope the apparent binge drinking doesn't ruin him.

Shump - A - Lin gets an A, Shump gets one for being Shump on the court longer.

Fields - C+ - Getting tired of watching a glue guy start. More tired watching someone try to figure out how to shoot open jumpshots. Apparently he's going to be the bad influence on Lin, not JR Smith. Gets a plus for the nerd pregame routine.

JR Smith - B- Beautiful highlight Starkian dunk, a few dangerous shooting sprees, and flashes of defensive brilliance. The minus is for watching LeQueen go by him moveless for a dunk in the last game.

Novak - B - Feel good story number 2. Has much less apparent staying power. Hopefully he and his family will be set financially due to this season's run. Like the corny belt thing.

Mike Woody - A - 18-6 will get you an A every time.
