Jackson 'has itch' to coach, but has no offers: report

Share on emailShare on facebook More Sharing ServicesMore Print LOS ANGELES — Even though he already has more championship rings than fingers, Phil Jackson is interested in returning to an NBA team next season, but has not yet gotten any calls, CBS Sports reported Monday.
Sources close to the legendary coach told CBS that he has “the itch” to pursue a 12th NBA title.
As The Post reported, his longtime girlfriend, Jeanie Buss, said Friday in a radio interview that he has “his energy back.“
To this point, however, teams have not sought Jackson out.
After firing Mike D’Antoni this season, the Knicks were viewed as likely to make overtures to Jackson, who won two titles as a player with the team. But The Post reported last week the Knicks had not contacted Jackson or sent out feelers.
After a stellar finish to the regular season, the Knicks are moving toward bringing back interim coach Mike Woodson.
Jackson, with a career record of 1,155-485, guided the Michael Jordan-led Bulls to six championships, then won five more with Kobe Bryant and the Lakers.
"It hurts," a Jackson confidante said recently. "People need to know he is not dead, and he is not 70."
Jackson, 66, has been rehabbing in Los Angeles after undergoing knee replacement surgery in late March. The ailment plagued him during his final season with the Lakers in 2010-11
