Do we check in next thursday to get the next guy??

I had Scott Machado Henry Sims and Jae Crowder. Remember now we are picking 48 not 16 or 22 or even 34.

Id go

#1 Darius Odom SG 6th man type
#2 Henry Sims PF
#3 Jae Crowder SF
#4 Scott Macahdo PG

I like Sims, of he falls to us. Not sold on Odom, Machado or Crowder, though I could see Odom developing into player in a few years. What ar your thought oh Herb Pope and Maalik Wayns. I really like Wayns' game and think he is a first round talent. Pope reminds me a bit of a less athletic Thad Young an I like his versatility.

I rather grab some young gusy sitting on the bench of NBA teams.

Donte Greene comes to mind.

Kevin Murphy from tenn tech. Will fly under the radar but has the makings of a nice role player. Lights out shooter, solid athlete. Think along the lines of Anthony Parker, Danny Green, and Jodie Meeks. That is exactly the type of player we need at SG and you get those players in the 2nd round.

Jared Zwerling: Just wrapped up watching Day 1 of the NBA pre-draft combine in NJ. Darius Johnson-Odom from Marquette most impressed me. Twitter

Jared Zwerling: Johnson-Odom: Lefty, explosive, fearless, talks a lot, motivates his teammates, gets after it on D, has a little Harden/Shumpert in him. Twitter

Jonathan Givony: Buffalo's Mitchell Watt doing some nice things. Crashing offensive glass, finishing off the ball, hedging hard on screens. #NetsCombine Twitter

Thanks Briggs, but sure does already sounds like we are going to have to move way up to acquire him.
I have interest in all 3 players.

I thought Donte Greene was going to be a beast, 2 years back when he develops....

Til I saw the 4 beasts in OKC...

Picking as low as the Knicks are I would take a Euro player, Tomas Satoransky would be a good pick up.

Jae Crowder: I wonder what kinda of defender this guy is.

I kind of thought something like this would happen in terms of him playing more of an NBA style-- He's NBA. When I picked those 4 guys he was way ahead of anyone on that list. Odom was not even on one draft site and low on the other--but personally I didnt think that was true.

Jae Crowder measured an inch short at just 6-3 3/4 without shoes. Shooting guard size. 6-8 1/2 wingspan. 242 pounds. #NetsCombine 40 minutes ago

That's crazy short and will scare teams. If the Knicks can some how get another pick than they should risk it on him.

the knicks used their total cash allotment ($3 million) in trading rony turiaf to the wiz to clear space for chandler. i don't believe we get that cash replenished until july 1 (which is the start to the offseason), so we will not be able to 'buy' any draft picks this year.

I wasn't aware of this. It will make draft night a lot more boring. Thanks for the information.

THe new rules really limit teams. We need to trade T. Douglas for a second round pick (he should be worth a second rounder even with the bad year he had). We should look to trade Fields to a team picking in the 14-22 range and draft the best player available (if JR Smith opts out, then 2 guard will be a priority). These moves will help preserve cap space for the next 2-4 years as we can avoid paying Fields as a FA and we can turn Douglas into a hopefully more useful player on a rookie contract.

Andrei Kirilenko sounds intent on returning to the NBA next season, and confirmed that the Jazz and Nets are his "priority."
Kirilenko doesn't expect to choose a team until after July 1st -- for now, he will bask in his success with CSKA Moscow, where he won league MVP and his team won the championship. In other AK news, he missed the last two games of the Russian PBL finals with an ankle injury, but it doesn't seem too severe.

3 Big reasons I really would feel trading Amare for Joe Joe Johnson would work for us.

1) Assuming, Toronto or another team, offers Lin a contract, we just might be able to retain, our MLE depending on this hearing
but we might have to let players like Fields, Jorts, JR Smith go (if he opts out), trade TD for early 2nd round pick, if we cannot retain any of these players at 1-1.5m or less
possibly even sign and trading some of these guys to Atlanta to give them youth.

It improves our defense instantly, just by subtracting him for the lineup, while adding players like

A) Looking to spend the amount of the bi annual exemption to about 3m *splitting the MLE*, we can find a much more cost efficient player with
Maybe even target 2 of these players *with maybe adding another shot blocking center like Camby* so with all the exemptions look to acquire 3 players,
2 MLE, LLE, 2nd round pick

Ak47 *I like what Ak47 can bring with his ability to block shots, play good help defense with length/speed, has good balanced game, and would be part of our 3 defensive players with
Tyson Chandler and Iman*

Odom
Mahimi
Kenyon Martin

B) or with the Full MLE

KG
Ilyasova

are all FA's which can have better defense, way better shot blocking ability, rebounding, and better all around games to compliment the team.

2) Joe Johnson might be over payed, but so is Amare, as we see he does not fit well with Tyson and Melo together. While Joe Johnson's contract is one year longer than Amare,
he has the abilities to fit with Knicks much better, allow Melo to be the alpha dog, and give him the room/spacing to POST UP. JJ has some ability to post up for mid range too.
Tyson Chandler got much more looks, when Amare and/or Melo was out, with much better spacing to cut to the rim, and they were all high % shots.

A) has good versatility to play point/forward *one of our problems/holes that would compliment our poor decision/facilitating guards in JR Smith, Iman, TD, and even help Lin*

B) he can be one of our assets to spread the floor, especially if we lose out on JR Smith, losing Iman for at least part of the year, possibly Novak as well

C) he might not be a great defender but he was once a good defender

D) he was once the 3rd option type of player in Phoenix, I believe he can still play this role, he wanted much more $ by being the Alpha dog in his earlier years in Atlanta but
he obviously wasn't good enough, and should be happy to be able to get payed as a max players, and while being a 3rd option, he will get the opportunity to win a ring

3) It is time for Atlanta to rebuild their roster, with an aging Joe Johnson *max player, they can get rid of a year of him for Amare*, they are not a high market team to afford to be over the tax, and to find players to fit in with their future with Jeff Teague. Josh Smith will be in his final year of his contract and this will be a great opportunity for
Atlanta to package him to a team for 1st round picks and/or young players. Amare has shown some of his athleticism back towards the end of the season, but he doesn't fit with
Melo and Tyson together, when Tyson was out, he put up numbers like he did before Tyson got here. So in a sense, he is like ZBO when he got traded, his production is actually
greater than his value as long as it is in the right system. Horfid will be healthy by next year and Ivan Johnson is a FA, which they seem to like, and would resign.

Atlanta
=============

Amare
Horford
Marvin Williams
SG *MLE* Ray Allen, Terry, Billups, Danny Green
Teague

Zaza Pachula
Ivan Johnson
Fields
1st round pick *their own*
1st round pick *Josh Smith*
2nd round pick
LLE
Veteran minimums and players that aren't drafted

Knicks (we can only have 15 roster spots, in a sense 14 because Iman will be unable to play till he full rehabs)
========================================================================================================================

Tyson Chandler
AK47 *partial MLE or LLE*
Melo
Joe Johnson (JJ6)
Lin *will have shooter to space him out when he penetrates, even Ak47 can hit the 3, with Joe Johnson helping him out with his ball handling skills*

JR Smith
Mahimi or Martin or Odom or Camby or Hickson *LLE, or split the MLE with him with AK47*
Novak
Iman *assuming he will be out for at least the beginning of the season*
Jeffries aka JJ2 *we might not have roster room for him*
Jordan *send him to D league, for 2-3months, unless someone gets hurt, he is on contract for us for next year already*

TD
Jorts *we have a team option on him that we didn't pick up yet, I hope we can resign him though*
Donte Green or/and Terrence Williams or Johnny Flyn or Greg Oden *rest of the MLE or one player for LLE, or even trading for these guys at low value
Delonte West or/and Gaines or Keyon Dooling * all veteran minimum deals*

Our own picks this summer
--------------------------
2nd round pick

Additional draft picks, yoots, or trading for a young players like (with our the 3million we will get after July 1st and/or the rights to the 2 players we acquired from Dallas)

Gary Neal(SA can afford to let him go but I don't think they will lock Danny Green long term) or Johnny Flynn or Aaron Brooks
Donte Green or/and Budlinger or Courtney Lee Terrence Wiliams or Gerald Green

From Dallas for Tyson Chandler
Giorgos Printezis - Forward, 2007 Rnd 2 Pick 28 Greece, we might not have the luxury of using part of the MLE to risk him, with our cap situation, however, he can be a stretch 4
and
Ahmad Nivin F 2009 Rnd 2 Pick 26 United States

This is how I would rebuild our Knicks,

Donte Green is 6'11 and can hit the 3point shot and could be cheap
Chase Budlinger *doubt Houston will let him go but they do have a lot of skilled players at those positions with (Kevin Martin back), maybe they see value in Giorgos Printezis

I think there are a lot of Yoots from other teams, they have lost value, that we just might be able to steal at a good price.
Need players that can penetrate, with some post position, and players to spread the floor, to go with BALL movement/picks/motion.
I would say play similar to a combination of how Dallas and SA play, are best suited for how we should play
with playing Zone D at times to change our defense up
