Doubtful. Baron was not a good backup this year. I don't see how he will be next year.

The flying dunking Baron was gone before the knee injury.

His play was pretty bad this year. I don't see how he can be anything but a coach of some kind.

Some guys can be effective when they're 40 (KT would have helped us a lot!), some guys, can't (Stat!)

The way he reacted it did not seem that bad. When I saw the knee disfigured I was like "WTF" but he looked kind ok with it.

Im sure as soon as they tried to reset it "Hoyt" real bad!

In his prime he was DWade. He was that good. Not the same Defense and not as consistent but his offense was there and he could jump.

He has little chance of ever coming back. He's got a chronic bad back, he's got a bum knee and he'll be 35 before he can play again. Then on top of that he isn't even a good player anymore. No one's gonna hitch their horse to this wagon anymore. He has a lot of outside business interests -he should call it quits with the money he has made.

From today's NYT:
The injury to Davis’s right knee was worse than originally thought. Tests taken Monday revealed complete tears in the medial collateral and anterior cruciate ligaments, as well as a partial tear of the patella tendon. He will have surgery this week. He is expected to be out for 12 months.

He's done.

if he comes back he'll be wheeled off the bench on a wheel chair.

when he was young, his athleticism made up for his lack of court vision but he was a shoot first PG with a low basketball IQ.

He's a competitor and was one of the best PG in the NBA in his prime. He's the most confident player in the NBA, and there's no question he will make a come back. I'm not an NBA player, and didn't have the same injury, but I tore my left achilles at 35....came back and won a city league championship as one of the primary scorers. Jan 2012 now at 39....I tore my right achilles....I'm already ahead of schedule, playing ball once a week as we speak.

Some guys just have that work ethic...good genes...and confidence. He would still be able to play on a team of veterans, in a half court system....The question is not if he will come back....but as you mentioned above.....WHO WILL PICK HIM UP?

Once his phone stops ringing, he has no choice but to retire from the NBA....But he's the type of dude that will play ball til he's well into his 50's.......I was suppose to play in a league called Life Time Fitness (it's online)...Penny Hardaway was dropping 30 plus, and this is against semi pro / college / ex NBA players. BD is a better street baller, than NBA player.....He will be back on the black top!

Feel really bad for Baron Davis after his injury. He wasn't 100% all season and he didn't play great, but he was decent at times. I hope he can come back and be a solid reserve for a team; maybe us. I think 12 months is an overestimate and he could be back sooner. If he's ready around Jan/Feb next year, a team in need of a veteran backup PG (the Knicks?) may be able to pick him up for a stretch run. Baron wasn't the starter we had hoped for, but no need to kick the guy while he's down.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

Baron will be our savior next season!
I do feel sorry him too, though. He worked really hard to get back to playing, and I know how much it sucks to have knee injuries.

Is it me, or do most NBA vets love ending their career with the Knicks.....We are always 5 yrs late (or more) when picking up players out of their prime. BD was not physically ready for a starter role.....Linsanity was not ready for a starter role.....Shump was not build to play heavy PG minutes, under the NY stress. And yes, it's a fact with most injuries, stress is a key factor. I just read about this myself, due to my two achilles injuries in 4 yrs.

Can we finally get a true NBA starter that plays point guard, thats not passed their prime?

He tore his MCL, ACL and patella tendon...plus the dislocated kneecap. At 35+, it's a safe bet he's done.

He's not 35+. He just turned 33 last month. It's a bad injury, but we'll see. It's all about how much he wants it.

Holy ****. I thought it was just a dislocated patella. I didn't realize he had all that too. At his age and considering how ineffective he was pre-injury this year, there's no way he makes it back. I hope for his sake that he can just walk pain-free for many more years.

OK, my bad on the age. He certainly played like he is at least 35. Nevertheless, he's done. That knee is about as wrecked as it comes. If her were younger, if were had a reason to be motivated, then yes...he COULD make it back. But with his herniated disc, his now completely blasted knee, and his ability on the serious decline, I doubt Baron has much motivation.
