The pre-Melo team wouldnt have had to worry about getting the record for most losses in the playoffs.

Makes no sense. The pre-Melo team was above .500.

Yeah, by 2 games I think when the trade occurred. They were free falling. If not for that one stretch of 13 out of 14 they would be way out of it.

Not when it mattered. MDA had the team better prepared in the playoffs last season than we were for this series; we simply didn't have the firepower last season. This season we have the firepower and we don't have the effort or preparation. Fuck this team.

Are you ignoring the fact that this team is playing without 3 starters which is also 3 of our top 5 scorers? Seriously, who is scoring for us other than Melo or JR? I thought we played tremendous defense in the first half, but in the second half, particularly the 4th Q, the HEAT superstars came alive and made tough shots.

Sometimes you have to give the other team credit. The Heat are one of the best defensive teams I've seen in a long time. Going up against that defense with Melo and JR as your only reliable scoring options is asking for trouble.

And we were without three starters partially because one starter took himself out by punching a fire hydrant? Seriously? Inexcusable. $100k fine minimum, IMHO. I cannot believe Amar'e pulled a Sprewell. Like I said. Fuck this team.

What Amare did should impact Amare not Woodson's future. I think Uptown makes good points. I don't think the Knicks get swept by any other eastern conference team and I think there is a good chance the team advances. The Heat are probably going to win a title this year. They have a ton of talent.

There's no excuse for getting swept. What teams did the Heat sweep last season in the playoffs? None. That's right, none. If we're not on the level of 2011 Philadelphia 76ers, we might as well not bother with the playoffs.

Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

As this board has noted repeatedly, we're the deepest team in the league. Losing games by 35, 10, 17 - no, inexcusable. We had less talent on the floor last year against a game opponent, the scores were closer and the effort was much better.

anyone complaining about this team losing to the probable nba champion heat needs a serious reality check.

the team lost THREE STARTERS TO INJURY - Lin, Amar'e, Shump

and it's best bench defender in jeffries looked like his knee locked up in the 4th again.

WHAT DID YOU EXPECT????

Amare was injured for one game. The two games he played in we suck.

Shumpert got injured in a 40 point blowout.

The team was supposed to be a top 3 seed before anyone knew who Lin was. Remember Baron "the savior" Davis? Yeah, that didn't work out well.

Why can't people accept that after two straight playoff sweeps with two different coaches that Amare and Carmelo cannot play together and are the problem.

So who is the genious who assemled this mismash? Mister Jimmy... and his main bbal consultant mister Isiah.
The names of players are different but the result is same - this team sucks.

When the team is doing good give Walsh credit. When the team does bad blame Dolan and Isiah. I get it now.

Walsh signed Amare to a 100 million dollar uninsured deal. Oh wait the deal is turning out not to be good so Isiah and Dolan signed him. See Im learning.

But if Amre doesn't come then we don't get Melo! Wait ... how does this argument go again? I thought we hate Melo ... I'm confused ...

If we don't sign Amare then we don't GUT OUR ROSTER FOR MELO and then we can get lots of "pieces"

See I'm learning too

I trully think whoever isn't proud of this achievement isn't a real Knicks fan. Think about it, this record represents exactly what the team has become since their glory days in the 90's: an undisciplined team that regardless of little or more talent, they can't play with enough effort to win.

Today was the day we had to win. Miami was off and we still played to their hands, throwing an embarrassing offensive performance. Melo proved that he is a part-time star because for all his greatness in sealing the deal to get us to the playoffs, he has been dreadful once theu started.

Cue to the guys simply saying the Heat are better. Truth is, basketball games aren't won by talent alone because we have a lot of examples where less talented teams defeated them. Yes, we are hurt, but to use that as an excuse would be to prolong a mediocre culture that you simply accept the other team was better and remove any responsibility from you. WE HAD ENOUGH TO WIN THIS GAME.

But we didn't and this record greatly shows what the Knicks have been about in the last decade: losing.

you're comparing the 2011 celtics to the 2012 heat? okay, at least you admit you don't know what you're talking about.

Because you disagree, I don't know what I'm talking about? Please. That's a pathetic argument. We have injuries, so we shouldn't win a single game? Injuries are part of the game. The Mavs won an NBA championship with injuries, the Orlando Magic won game 1 without Dwight Howard. Most teams have injuries. Lin wasn't even part of the plans this year and all of the sudden he's our excuse when we don't win? Why don't you admit a strawman argument? Nobody on this board claimed they expected the Knicks to get swept; a lot of people wanted 2 wins this series, at least. Now all the sudden, getting SWEPT again and breaking the NBA record is no big deal? F off.

I'm talking about effort and a game plan. You also act like Amar'e has not been available to play all series. His injury was self-inflicted and he CHOSE to take himself out of the game by being a @@#$@#$#ing idiot. No excuses for that, I'm sorry. If you make excuses for that, you need your head examined. I'm tired of excuses. We've had excuses for 10 years. Work through the difficulties and win. This is more than bad luck. Every team has some bad luck, but lesser teams are putting up better showings than the Knicks, why is that? It's not simply the opponent.

Steven A. Smith said he wanted the Knicks to have the Heat in the first round, so we can see what the Knicks are made of. Oh, we see what the Knicks are made of...

jello. No heart, however, until proven otherwise.

Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

Injuries? We have the exact roster that most people thought at the start of the season was a .750 team (minus one missed game by Amare). At the start of the season it was
Toney Douglas
Landry Fields
Carmelo Anthony
Amare Stoudemire
Tyson Chandler

And the predictions were that we were a .750 team that would put up a big challenge for the Heat.

See, for example, this:
http://ultimateknicks.com/forum/topic.asp?t=39269

Or for a discussion of how Melo owns Lebron, see this:
http://ultimateknicks.com/forum/topic.asp?t=39261&page=1

Enjoy the Record...
