He could help on defense, but not much else, unless turnovers, stupid passes, inept ball handling and idiotic shot selection are your idea of "help". But yeah, he can stay in front of a mufuh.

We have to be fair in recognizing that this team is much closer to it's goals now than before. We got a chance to see this roster for almost a full season and we know for sure the strengths and weaknesses. It's now up to Grunwald to find a way to upgrade the roster and he's going to have to be really creative given our limited resources, but that's his job. I don't believe that his job is as hard as it seems right now. A few key additions could make a HUGE difference. Imagine if he had been able to add Ramon Sessions. I mean it's not going to be impossible to find some help for this team given the level of help we're talking about. We're talking about good role players at a couple of spots and not a total overhaul.

What? What about Lin???

And, I would not give Felton more than the 2 mil per that he got last time, though we don't have 2 mil to give him.

Felton got 7 mil per last time...I don't think the team can risk going into next year solely relying on Lin as their PG..My opinion only,I would take Felton's play last year with the Knicks over what Lin brought this season...He them compete for the starting PG spot..I wouldn't give Lin the MLE if I can avoid it..If Lin doesn't work out then what?..Replay of this year?

Whoops sorry I got mixed up with the 2 mil and 2 year. Anyway, I don't think that there is the slightest chance that Lin wont get the full MLE. We will have to match it if it is offered by another team and it most certainly will be offered.

So coming off of a knee injury, let's say he goes down again or his shot regresses or he is the 6 TO guy per..What do you do?

I have the same fear that you have but its another gamble that we will take on his upside based on what we saw from him. Grunwald will have to find a serviceable backup which won't be easy.

If they feel the way you feel, they should trade him with Amare for DWilliams + Humphries/someone. They won't sign him for less than the MLE because they can't.

Realistically Amare isnt going anywhere ..We have to get a PG to make him viable...I'm more concerned getting production out of Amare than I am about honoring Lin with a guaranteed starting slot..The success of the team hangs in the balance..I would like a nice ending for all but this is a business..

Is Tyson + Amare for Dwight still viable? IDK what the impact of injury would be on DH but it will have reduced ORL asking price. I would HATE to lose Tyson but may gave to pull the trigger if that one is possible. Melo and DH fits much better. The two big guys up front are making things complicated right now.
TKF on Melo ::....he is a punk, a jerk, a self absorbed out of shape, self aggrandizing, unprofessional, volume chucking coach killing playoff loser!!

The only assets we have are the MLE, maybe Amare but I don't see how anyone takes on his contract, and I guess we could go over the cap to sign fields and work a sign n trade. I cant see Shump being traded and are other players have little to no value. Novak and JR walk along with BD probably. We're gonna use the mid level on Lin because we don't have a better option.

It was one of the deepest in the sense that 7 through 12 we were very strong. We still had too many holes in the starting lineup.

The Depth go us to the playoffs and almost the 6th seed.

This team I believe if not for a short season would have been a higher seed.

The team actually performed as I thought it would. Start slow then beast down the stretch.
No way did I think it would take a coaching change to accomplish this!

And in no way did I think Novak would be such a big role player for us, nor could factor in JR.

Miami is the true no. 1 seed in the east now that Rose is out.

Lin was adapting in the "Post Linsanity" era and doing very well.

Enough to stop the 12 game losing streek in the playoffs and maybe win 2? maybe.

Even if this is true, does it need to be discussed here? Can't they just go get a room and keep it off the board?

Yeah, I'm a homophobe. Shoot me.

Seriously back on topic for a second, can't JR serve against this Heat team as a PG? I'd entertain almost anything to keep BD or Bibby from being on the floor for more than 5 minutes each.

Lin will help... he will make the Knicks much better. This talk about injury concern and signing someone like Felton INSTEAD of Lin is insane. Lin is an international sensation and his jersey outsells Kobe. He's the Knicks starting PG until he plays worse than Douglas did.

Lin will be good here, if not very good. If the lineup of Lin/Shump/Melo/Stat/Chandler stays healthy for the next couple years Lin will be one of the better PGs in the league.

That being said Miami's swarming D totally took him out of his game last time, so its hard to see a healthy Lin even now being ready to push the Knicks above the Heat

May be not push the Knicks above the Heat this year, but Lin is young and so is Shumpert, they could have made this series more interesting, and help our front court. Hopefully next year.

I just wanted Lin to have this experience, Shump too... even if its a sweep. I want those guys to see and feel first hand what playoff bb is and how great the Heat are. Thats the ceiling. Not some "important" game in April because guys mailed it in and now they *must win*

Since we traded all our assets and have limited ability to improve the future really lies with Shump and Lin. If those two can become high caliber NBA starter and I think they can we can yet compete for a title. If they are just average starters than the Knicks will be the Hawks. Go the playoffs, maybe win a series, but most likely be one and done each year.
