I dont think trading a good player like amare is an answer--moving him into a 6th man position at this stage of his career where he can do 17-7 off the bench is the answer imho.

They should move him to 6th man since we wont get any value for him. He can get his 15 pts off the bench. Find a solid SF like ariza or dorell wright or even look into starting novak next year so we can get off to hot starts. My favorite lineup this season was chandler, melo, novak, shumpert, and lin. It offers great balance.

I have to tell you, I don't even remember those guys playing together.

They did, and they looked great!!!

i GOT IT.

Plan A:

Offer Stat to Houston for Scola/Kevin Martin. Hope that Morey will see redemption for STAT running the PNR with Lowry/Dragic and the only way Houston lands a real star.

Plan B:

Kidnap Mitch Kupchaks family and force him to trade us Pau for Amare.

Lin
Shump
Melo
Pau
Chandler

RINGS BABY! RINGS!

Plan A would be the best thing that happened to this franchise in a long time.

I would rather move Amare for expiring contracts than put him in a role which he undoubtedly will not like.

Besides, there is no way to justify paying $21 million to a 6th man.

Absolutely. Plus we could try to genetically merge Kevin Martin and Shump into a ridiculously athletic, defensive beast who is also deadly from outside and gets buckets efficiently.

Lin/TD/Whoever
Martin/Shump
Melo/Shump
Scola/Melo/JJ
Chandler/Jorts

BOOM!

pay for performance is a risky proposition in the nBA --we entered into an agreement to pay amare a lot of cash with full knowledge that he may not stay healthy the whole time. I dont think we can say well this man makes 20mm so he needs to start. If I remember back right--the Celtics won 3 championships with Kevin Mchale at 6th man--and he was better than Amare.

We can use that $20 million on another elgitimate player or a group of legitimate players. Wasting it on a 6th man is just not a good use of resources.

McHale played in an era where salaries and the cap wasn't as important to a team as it is now.

Vet min possibilities

Backup pg: sundiata Gaines
Stretch 4: Antwan Jamison

It's not pretty but possible given our cap constraints

Well good luck trading him. I think in reality--we try to find the best spot for him

Throw in Parson and you got something. They did try to do something similar to get Gasol. I think if you add in Fields and Douglas it might get it done since Amar'e is not as good as Gasol.

Also, on another board someone mentioned a deal with the Nets for Hump/Marrow for STAT or Wallace/Morrow for STAT. It depends on where you want Melo. If Woodson is kept I could see him going with a two small forwards. Also if you do the deal you have the money to kep Novak and maybe Smith. Imagine Morrow and Novak together. Maybe even a player like Jodie Meeks. Not a great 3pt guy as the former but an option in FA.

Amare is not going to be traded and if he was it would cost us to move him.

If you can't get Melo and Amare to play together then you move melo because he can be traded and we can receive value in return.

Other GM's know the gig with him so its no secret.

You'd trade Melo to a team that wants a star attraction to fill the building and does not have championship aspirations.

Duh, thats us.

Whether you move Stat to the bench or not, I think the thing this group desperately needs is a physical 4 who can be a solid defender & rebounder. That's what we should be looking for in the draft.

And we have to stop with the retread slow as molasses vets. If we sign Antawn Jamison I think I would vomit.

This team needs a lot of things but doesn't even have the resources to keep what we currently have. The back-court is weaker than the front-court though. a tough physical 4 might be the 5th or 10th thing I'd list as a team need. At most, we'll get to address one thing on that list this off-season.
