We can only pray that Shumpert recovers fully from his injury -6 to 8 months is gonna seem like an eternity. With no draft picks in this deep draft, Grunwald will really need to prove his mettle in coming up with some kind of backcourt to go with the players we will have left.

Agreed. Not only is Melo a closer, but he's the type of elite talent the opposition needs to gameplan for. These players not easy to come by; the type of player that can score regardless of what the opposition does. With him in tow, we need to concentrate on filling the other holes with which are easier to fill than it wold be to chase after another big piece.

The missing links are one to two of the following:
Lebron James
Dwight Howard
Kevin Durant
Chris Paul (maybe)
Dwyane Wade (maybe)
Derick Rose (maybe)

Basically, we lost out on the chance to be a serious championship contender the moment Lebron announced he was taking his talents to South Beach. If you dont have an MVP calibre player on your roster, you aint winning a "Chip."

This roster needs vets.

Miami is beatable. However, the only way we will beat them is with a dominate front court. By that I mean a PF/C with a low post game.

and a point guard.....

Bringing up Denver has nothing to do with what we gave up, it has everything to do with the fact that their winning percentage is better than ours since moving a superstar for "spare parts".

We have four players with value, Lin, Shumpert, Chandler and Melo. We can't better moving Amare because right now he has no value. Was Landry a fan favorite without Melo, how well did he move when the ball was moving.

Try getting into a rythm when the ball isn't moving the spacing is bad and everyone is converging on one guy. Melo is only going to buy into a system where he's shooting a majority of the time. Do you want to build your team around a guy that only plays hard when he get 20 shots?

Remember, Marbury got us to the Playoffs when he was first here, put up all world stats and things got really bad. The Hawks would have giving us the number 5 pick for him the year Deron and Paul were selected but Isiah didn't want to to do the deal. Things can go South quickly as they almost earlier this year when your superstar checks out. He doesn't handle blame well and unless we strike gold in the draft we are a worse version of the Atlanta Hawks going forward, while the Bulls and Heat get stronger.

Did you perhaps look at how Denver bettered them self outside of all/any of the pieces in the trade?

Denver had a deep team to begin with and the Nuggets are getting bounced by the Lakers regardless so what's the point in even brining up Denver?

You build a team around Melo and that's what the Knicks are trying to do. Yes we're getting whooped by the Heat but they simply have a better team right now.

Did you just bring up Landry, really. Also he bought into playing defense without many shots and he still got killed. So basically like most players, he can only win unless he wins.

Yes, but when not handle properly; this type of talent can also be very detrimental to the team success, Melo has the ability to make difficult shot, but he doesn’t need to do that every game so he could get into offensive rhythm. Playoff basketball is all about defense, taking care of the ball and good offensive execution, there is no need to shoot over three defenders unless the shot clock is expiring.

Its time to move Melo. He can't win with other players so trade him.

Also, move Amar'e because we will go nowhere without Melo and anyway, he wants to be in a different sport hitting fire extinguishers and red stuff.

Also move Ty. Why would you need defense if you already lack offense from Amar'e and Melo.

Trade Shump because of the same reason.

Also move Lin who, we all know, has seen his peak and is already damaged goods.

And while we are at it, trade the whole bench because who needs a bench without a starting lineup.

Trade speculation is so fun. The highest point of a Knick fan life. Hey, Dwight may be available and he could recover and be a monster! He'll be beasting in no time!

Rinse and repeat

But hey, we have black and white balls with a "B" just a few blocks from us. Yay!

I loved JVG's take the other day in the Denver Laker game.

When talking about Karl and Andre Millers lack of playoff success / first round loses etc ...

"Its silly to knock them or anyone for that, you have to look at the teams they were playing. (Denvers/Karl's example) Every year they were playing SA and the Lakers and were huge underdogs every time because of how LOADED those teams were. Thats NOT A KNOCK ON THEM! You can only do the best with what you have"

JVG PLEASE COME BACK TO NY!!

How many times did Durant even make the playoffs without Westbrook??? Was Lebron James his missing piece as well???

Your thinking is Broken.

Naming other teams Batman's when all we need is a Robin to support what Melo brings to this team, is what my list fixed.

Of course those players (maybe except Lebron) needed supporting casts. We don't even have the right stars yet, though. So there's no point in worrying about supporting cast.

These web based erections that some of you form over the lousy Nuggets is disgusting.

They're going to lose in 5 games if they don't get swept.

Then next year, they'll grab a 6-8 seed again and exit from the 1st round again.

Please stop.

Isn’t that exactly what the Knicks have done the last two years (including this one) first round and exit?

At least the Nuggets won a game last postseason.

Melo isn't the problem. Believe me i was critical of melo for a long time but its obvious that amare just gets in melo's way. Amare needs to come off the bench I know he would be a very expensive 6th man but tahts the only way i see this working is if they dont play too much with eachother. melo is much better playing the 4 and I feel amare can produce more off the bench

Don't you remember? They have a lower ceiling than we do! We may get swept every year in the playoffs but at least it's easier to construct fictional scenarios in which a Melo-led team becomes a title contender than a Nugget team becomes one!
