The guys defense is pretty bad and he is just a 3 pt specialist. Knicks just need to give him a multi-year guaranteed minimum deal.

SEASON TEAM SALARY POSITION
2010 Dallas Mavericks $ 915,852 Forward
2009 Los Angeles Clippers $ 797,581 Forward
2008 Los Angeles Clippers $ 797,581 Forward
2007 Houston Rockets $ 687,456 Forward
2006 Houston Rockets $ 600,000 Forward

Knicks should be able to bring back Davis too for the LLE. The guy would be a GREAT backup for Lin.

I would much prefer to have someone who could push Lin at PG...If Lin pulls a Landry Fields and his shot disappears we are screwed at the PG for another year...There are lots of free agents who can run this team...Felton and Dragic are out there. we can give oone of those guys a serious look...If we hav two great PG at the break we can trade one but I think we need insurance there...

They should come cheap and provide scoring off the bench.

you are absolutely right, we need to find cheap talents that FIT and replenish the depth we had this year.
With Novak, JR Smith, and JJ, possibly Lin being questionable with his injury for next year.
I can see Lin giving up some of the MLE if we are able to retain Novak, but I am unsure if it would still be enough to keep Novak.
These "role players" are a big part of our success and we not only need to retain their talents but we have to add to it as well.

To a lesser extent, of Baron Davis, Bibby, Walker. With Amare with all his injuries and Melo looking much better at PF, but shooters are needed to spread the floor with him. What really hurts is we never got to use the MLE this year or possibly this summer because Lin is our #1 priority.
Fields improved his ability to penetrate and handle the ball, but he seriously needs to work on his shot. Even though we have his early bird rights, his salary would cut in to our future possibilities to using the MLE the following year in 2013 if we are over the 70-75m range like the Heat, only having a 3.5m exemption.

On a plus note, we have another year under our belt, while we will have the ability to PRACTICE next year, and our rookies have a idea of how to continue to work on their games to fit each other. I expect Iman, Lin, Jorts, and even Jerome Jordan to continue to work on their games and come back much better next year.

I hope Melo, Amare, and TC, especially Melo to continue to train this off season and STAY IN SHAPE.

I don't know if we can even get an expiring deal for Amare this off season, not to mention a younger player, a pick *even 2nd round*, to be offered for his uninsured contract. OK4, Ariza, Jack, and Kaman(S&T) are possible targets for a trade with New Orleans.
A combination of 2 of these players, would be a great offer at this point.
With Pau Gasol and or a combination of KG/Ray Allen/Bass/Greg Stiemsma for a sign and trade being unlikely.

Assuming we won't have the MLE to use, there aren't many targets we have a realistic chance at. I don't quite understand why Deandre Jordan was able to get
10m a year offer that was matched by the Clippers, while Lin can only get a MLE offer in which we can match, without using our MLE? Will a team just do us an favor by offering him that type of money in which we still have our MLE to use?

Players to stay *most likely*

Lin *he just has the ability to make too much $ for Dolan to let go off, just from a business point of view*
Iman *many forget how much players like Westbrook and Rose improved after their rookie years, as Iman has a lot of potential to improve as well*
Melo *hope he stays in shape and improves, I like him playing at the 4 if we have the shooters to spread him out, against many teams but not all*
Chandler *no doubt he is the anchor of our defense, a candidate of being Defensive player of the year, as we are nothing without his presence*
2nd round pick this year and the 2 European players we attained from the Mavericks with Tyson Chandler are 3 wild carts.

Amare *he just doesn't fit in with Melo and TC, while we should still look to add an athletic PF, a better defensive/rebounding PF, and a stretch 4 to insure him*
Fields *while he has his flaws, we have his early bird rights, while we don't have to use any exemptions to retain him*

Jorts *I see him more as a 3rd string Center and while he plays decent defense, he will unlikely be a good shot blocker/help defender to be the 2nd center unless we have a athletic PF to be that type of player*

Jerome Jordan *he can still improve but it looks unlikely he will be a player of Greg Stiemsma or Omar Osik typoe*
TD *a wild card, while I think he needs a new brain, will never be a PG, he has the physical tools to be a spark player of the bench, capable of hitting 3s and D*

Players most likely gone with some having a slight chance of returning..

JR Smith
JJ
Davis
Novak

CHEAP TARGETS *assming we only have the Bi Annual Exemption to use, I think we have to use it on a center or find a player to replace JR Smith's caliber, while looking for the Veteran minimum to offer...

This is the only way this team will have any kind of shot of getting a championship. But the chance of this is so slight I dont even think it is being considered as an option.

I'd love to have Dragic instead of Lin to be quite honest.

Yea, I went threw the list and omitted alot of the players. No need to know Deron Williams is a FA if all we have is vet mins and the LLE.

I don't think I missed any of the cheap talent, though I did leave of some bums like Radmonvic(know it's wrong), because he is a pure bum that would only make sense for the old coach.

Signing Dragic to the MLE and Lin at a cheaper rate isn't completely out of the question ..

I kind of want Delonte West but man is he a knuckle head. He is the perfect utility guard especially if Woodson stays.

I think if you open your mind to the fact that Lin did have knee surgery, that we could possibly swing some decent players in FA with the MLE.

I'm not fight that battle though.

Hey these guys managing the Knicks brought in Chandler to everyone's surprise...We need solid PG or two just to make Amare viable...Felton played good D last time here..if he loses 20/30 lbs, he could be a steal
