don't disrespect Shump like that

Gallo would have broken into a million little pieces had Noah fouled him like that yesterday

True, but Shump can't pull off that rooster hair do, and that blank, vaguely retarded Gallo stare.

This just in: Gallo re-injures his spinal column getting an MRI on his broken thumb.

But I'm a Melolover and I'm not a Gallo... oh, right.

I almost forgot about the early season Shumpmania that preceded Linsanity (not drafted, but rescued). There was that national game where he seemed totally out of control. But now Shump is back playing under Woodson and has been asked to shore up the hobbled backcourt and he is doing it. After years of our draft picks floating out the door or being wasted, we got a winner here.

Love Shumps giving Rip the Gas face LOL!

I can't believe they called a technical foul—and this is in our house! this Ref should be fined

In that video Breen said "It looks like he said something". How can he tell that when the angle is showing the back of his head. It is like when giving a 50% chance at anything happening when dealing with the Knicks breen will always chose the negative. I want Breen to run full speed and jump in the air then let someone grab his arm and pull him down. I bet you he will think it is a flagrant foul then.

Yeah Breen's been with MSG forever—i remember listening to him when he was only doing WFAN radio back in the day. now he over-criticizes the knicks on every play. by contrast you have Hubie Brown who, on national TV, pretty much roots for the Knicks.

Breen is a knicks fan hubie calls like he sees it's...Jvg sounded so anti knick..I forgot he was a part of the franchise for a very long time

So true. His critiquing Melo on every play was alarming. So much so that even jvg who has every right to thrash the knicks organization was putting breen in his place as Melo dropped 43 and the knicks won

Shumps giving Walsh some love.

CHICAGO — Iman Shumpert paid homage to former Knicks president Donnie Walsh yesterday, thanking Walsh for drafting him. Shumpert is Walsh’s parting gift to the Knicks.
Following his shutdown of the Bulls’ Derrick Rose in the Knicks’ 100-99 overtime Garden win on Sunday, Shumpert wrote on Twitter: “Dear Donny (sic) Walsh. Thank you for giving me a chance!!’’
Shumpert, a Chicago native, was excited after making life miserable for Rose, who was forced into a 8-for-26 brickfest in his comeback from a 12-game injury absence. Shumpert, who played a lot of point guard on Sunday, will be sent at Rose tonight in the rematch at United Center. Shumpert’s defense on Rose is one key reason the Knicks match up better against Chicago than Miami in the playoffs.
“They’re a good team where they fight throughout the whole game,” Rose said. “If we do play them, it will be a fun series.”
Walsh selected Shumpert with the 17th pick last June, and Shumpert has become one of the steals of the draft. He has become one of the best perimeter defenders in the league and has a strong shot at being named NBA First Team All-Rookie.
Walsh, a part-time club consultant looking to return to full-time front office work with another franchise, appreciated the shoutout.
“He can be a monster defensively and will continue to get better offensively,’’ Walsh wrote in an email to The Post. “He has a bright future. He is playing well enough to be considered first team.’’
It isn’t surprising Shumpert is taking this Rose assignment to heart. During the lockout, Shumpert penned a diary for The Post, and in one entry he wrote:
“I have been a Bulls fan my whole life. Growing up in the Chicago area, I naturally want to play against Derrick Rose. I was younger than him, and our high school [Oak Park River Forest] got knocked out of the state tournament in the semifinals right before we would have played his school [Simeon]. Now I’ll finally get to play him.”
With Baron Davis still gimpy with a bum hamstring and knee and Toney Douglas inconsistent, Shumpert, who starts at small forward, will see more and more time at backup point guard.
“That’s a big-time option for us,’’ Mike Woodson said. “I feel comfortable with him handling the basketball and getting us into things. It makes us bigger, and we can switch more defensively.’’
That means Shumpert’s minutes are on the rise. He played 45 Sunday.
“I don’t really care,’’ Shumpert said. “I don’t really want to come out. I want to live in the moment.”

+1, thank you for this thread . Shump needs to get his due props. Rose could miss tonites rematch because of his "ankle". I think he is scared if Shumpert !!!

OK...we all love Shump, but why wake up a sleeping giant in Rose? Rose would dominate Shump, because thats how the NBA rules are set up. Any real NBA superstar can not be guarded 1 on 1.

I'm no superstar, and I'm not in the NBA....and I haven't found 1 person who can stop me 1 on 1. It's just impossible. For every action, theres a reaction. That split second to reacte already puts defenders at a disadvantage.

The reason why Shump did so well against Rose, is because of the coach and team defensive philosophy.

But with that said, Shump and Chandler playing 30 plus minutes will be the key to Knick success for a long time! If Lin was healthy, WE LOSE THIS GAME. Since Lin is out, this give Shump more playing time against top PG's.

Lets see if Woodson falls into the hype with Lin....Lin is our best offensive PG.....But defense wins championships! LETS GO SHUMP!

Lin does not have Shumpert's strength and length, but you must not be watching closely if you think that Lin is only an offensive talent, who pays no attention to D. He is an above average defender man on man, and plays the lanes well. The block he had on Rose earlier in the year, when he was beaten but didn't give up, tells you all you need to know about Lin.

Shumpert is not a PG anyway, at least not at this point, even though he has no trouble guarding them.

And don't think that Shumpert's success against Rose is because of the coach and team defensive philosophy. Shumpert and Chandler both came to the Knicks with the ability and mindset to play defense. Woodson's great achievement is getting Anthony to play more consistent D. Now lets see if he can get Amare to follow suit when he comes back.

To be honest, I didn't know anything about Shumpert until after he was drafted. That 5-20 performance of his normally would have soured me on most rookies but Shumpert is a true diamond in the rough. His defense reminds me of Gary Payton's. His offense is becoming more consistent. Strike shortened season with no training camp, and Iman is still showing how dangerous a baller he is, and can be.

Gallo has skills but doesn't have the ability to wreak havoc on both ends of the court like Shump does. Gallo also doesn't look half as durable.
