Novak has a far more positive impact on the game than Smith does. I know a lot of people are high on Smith but he really doesn't do anything well. He's adequate in a number of areas and worth keeping for 2.5 mil but it's much harder to replace a guy who hits almost half his 3 point shots.
And what does Novak give you when his threes aren't falling???..Please enlighten me on the positive impact...
Nothing (but at least he doesn't kill his team). And that's a rare occurrence anyway.

Seth Rosenthal @seth_rosenthal RT @JADubin5: JR Smith grabbed the rebound that led to both Melo's game-tying 3 in regulation and game-winning 3 in OT (off a Tyson tip).

Well that's the whole point..At least you get defense/rebounds from JR...Overall, JR has been a positive addition...Very good defender...We don't have to live with Fields as a liability down the stretch...

One thing I can say about Smith is that he is not scared of the moment and right or wrong he will take his open jumper. At times Novak lookscared of the moment and afraid to take the shot after he missed some key shots. HE curled up and fell out of bounds because he didn't trust his shot and couldn't take his man off the dribble.
Also, this is an off year for JR and usually he drives to the whole more. I want them both and think you need both type of players.

i agree - we need them both. and we're in danger of losing both of them to more lucrative offers, unfortunately.
