Have you watched the Nets at all this season? He's not engaged. He'll pick and chose when he's going to ahve a good night. I used to think he's the kind of guy that could put a team on his back and make them into a 3/4 see in their conference. The Nets have been abysmal and it just seems he checked out early in the seaosn.

I really do not watch the Nets but also, do you judge players just on one season or over their careers.

You're new here, so let me splain.

Judgements are made on how players fit into the individuals fantasy league/real gm trade scenarios/possible picks in imaginary drafts. It's got nothing to do with performance, careers or anything tangible.

And don't site stats. It's bad form unless you have some fuzzy logic to go with them.

No one said Deron is not a good player. No one said Marbury wasn't a good player either. Have you checked out Marbury's career stats? Among the greatest point guards of all time judging by only stats. But could he lead a team as the number 1 guy? No.

The final chapter hasn't been written on Deron. He looked like he was on his way to being one of the greatest of all time. But he is not playing on the worst roster ever assembled this year and they've been horrible. The current Nets actually remind me a lot of Marbury's Knicks when Lee was on the team. And if you watch the games you'd see that he hasn't been a leader. Not all redeemable qualities of a talented basketball player are tangible.

trade for Amare + Lin, hire MDA as the coach and play .650 basketball. Nets go to a couple Eastern Conf finals while the Knicks try to figure out what coach will figure out how to get Deron and Melo to play well together as we lose each year in the first round to the Bulls.

Yea... that smells very likely actually

I would trade anything for the deron Williams of a few seasons ago, but he's long gone. He's gone from being a tough competitor to an ego maniac- his attitude stinks the past 2 seasons and he's gotten lazy. People are right on target when they say he'd be Marbury the Second.

Nah. He's "Marbury the second" because he's stuck in Jersey and he doesn't want to be there. He's still fourth in the league in assists and is the second-best point guard in the league when he cares (but he's more durable than the best point guard in the league).

From a talent standpoint you put that trade on the table. I'd put Lin/Stat for Humphries/Dwill on the table and see what happens. Maybe Jersey takes it and maybe they don't.

Wow, very surprised at the Williams hate.

Deron Williams is the best PG in the NBA. End of story. Guy has been healthy his entire career and doenst need to be the alpha dog.

Chandler/Melo/Williams as our big 3 would be an upgrade. We'd at least have a healthy team.

Nets are desperate. They have no picks and they need to sell tickets for their new arena without giving them away. Nets jump on on Amare and Lin.

I dont think they trade Williams straight up for Amare but giving them Lin would seal the deal just from a marketing stand point.

First, cant see the Nets trading to two injured players, one of them with a hefty contract and a history of being injured. Second, I would like to keep pur team in tact, however, lets be objective here, there is no way Lin is a better player than Deron Williams.

I know Deron Williams is good, possibly the best point guard in the game, but his game stylistically is off-putting to me. Like it's easy to say he's scoring point, a Marbury but with a couple more assists, just something about his game that's a turn off. There's just something wrong when your point guard is leading your team in scoring every night (No offense to Linsanity).

Melo's not the point guard, why shouldn't he score buckets?

But I'm sayin, what chew sayin??

It's more fun to watch Deron drop some buckets and ill nasty dimes than it is to watch Melo dribble dribble and throw his rib cushions around

Nah, I'd rather watch CP3 operate then Deron anyday. CP3 gets his 10 dimes, then if it's close in the 4th, takes over the game. Deron is a glorified chucker with good court vision ala Marbury.

With Brook lopez being out most of the year, who, other than Deron has the capability to lead that team in scoring? That team is awful. When Deron was in Utah, surrounded by much better talent, Boozer actually lead the team in scoring. Williams scoed out of necessity on the Nets.

BTW, Isiah Thomas, one of the top 4 pgs' of all time lead his team in scoring on more than several occasions.
