I think some posters are overprotective of MDA and oddly, the Linsanity-era posters who have signed up in the past week seem to think it's bad for Jeremy's brand to actually be winning games again. Firing MDA wasn't an idictment of Lin, it was an indictment of MDA. If anything, Lin excelling under Woodson proves he is not a one trick pony and will have a long and successful career in this league.

Good point about the Linsanity era posters. It seems that Melo is the devil-himself as he supposedly put an end to the Linsanity era all by his lonesome. Nevermind that the defenses were game-planning for him now, and the tougher competition we faced on the road. But as you said, Lin has proven to be a quick study and is progessing nicely.

Yup, I guess NBA scouts get paid to just twiddle their thumbs when evaluating opposing teams players. Give both Lin and Woodson alot of credit to adjusting to those traps.

BIll Fitch and Paul Westhad each had won championships with those clubs.

each of those players had won with those exiled coach.

MDA had not.

Melo had not.

So, aslong as you have championship hardware, its okay to not give 100% and get your coach fired?

When your wearing bling and you won with that coach, and now the players hate that coach, you either gut the team or gut the coach.

When your any of those Allstar future HOF's and you got bling, you got cred.

When you have the cred, you have the juice.

Melo wanted IN WITH THIS TEAM AND COACH.

.....yeah, seems melo was called out as not being on board with the plan.

The plan worked without Melo.

UH OH!

BTW, Vinny Del Negro took the Bulls to the playoffs but getting into a fight with your boss is not good.

Clipps hired him on the cheap before they got Paul and went all in.

I said it before, MDA will be there next year.

isn't it fair to realize it wasn't working and make a change while the getting was good?

melo and amar'e and tyson aren't getting any younger.

MDA was in his final year of his contract - the morning he quit/got fired, even though i was pissed at melo for dogging it, i said to my friend "they clearly aren't trading melo, so if the plan is to get a different coach this summer, d'antoni should go now. he's in a horrible position to have any influence over the team."

it was just obvious - knicks had to choose between MDA and Melo. clearly choosing to keep the team intact and bring in a new voice was less disruptive.

I just love how people conveniently leave out that the team won WITH Melo and Lin when he came back. The downward spiral started once the Heat exposed Lin and other teams followed suit. He got onto scouting reports. People just love to act as though it was Melo who disrupted the streak. Simple and plain, teams trapped Lin and forced him left. His turnovers, forced shots and bad decisions had nothing to do with Carmelo Anthony and all to do with teams adjustments. Mike had no answer for that. It was wrong to try and ride Lin's back so soon in his development. Too much too soon. He was an unknown at that time but the Heat did a great job at scouting him and they made him look like a D-Leaguer for real! Woodson got it right. Lin is now roughly the 3rd option. Pressure off his shoulders in many ways. Mike D tried to make this "Lin's team". He's no Steve Nash at this point. Perhaps one day he will be. I believe he will continue to grow and become one of the really good players in these league.....consistantly. But THIS season, the novelty wore off as soon as teams got hip. It's that simple. Any other view is agenda based.

Great Post!

Not to mention the strength of schedule change. During Linsanity, the knicks played bad teams. And yes they had 2 good wins against Dallas and the Lakers but they are also sub-.400 road teams.

Miami did expose Lin as he related to the spread offense. Hard to be spread if the PG could not break the trap.

Lin is being used much better now, thought Philly really hurt him in the first 3 quarters.

Adjustments! Thats all we ask for. And, thanks Woody for Obliging.

Adjustments and accountability. That is all we were asking for. And you are dead-on with the tough road schedule we played during the losing streak. But the anti-Melo crew never mention the schedule, they always give the same black-n-white response. 8-1 without Melo and 2-8 with Melo.

Well, we are 5-0 with Melo, Lin and Woodson and a revived group of Knickerbockers.....
