Would Love Sloan. Offensively marries PNR mixed with Post better than anyone. And held his stars accountable on defense. Not sure why D-Will got him fired, because he always had the green light. Melo would get fed on Pick and Pops and post play all day.

keep in mind that if melo, Amare & chandler are cancerous then why did they all have 50 win seasons. Something to ponder

Get it done!

my bet is: "he's too old. his best coaching days are behind him." will be the pre-dominant reasoning behind running him out of town when the time comes.

Sloan is the Clint Eastwood of the NBA. Try telling him he is too old to his face.

well said

speaking of well said, how about this Clint line:

"When I was doing 'Bridges of Madison County' I said to myself 'this romance stuff is really rough, when can I get back to shooting and killing.'"

First off nobody coming mid season. Woodson gets that interm gig.

Second, Sloan is just media fodder to take space. There was nothing behind that other than pure speculation.

I would be shocked if took the gig for numerous reasons.

Look a the last 10 years and tell me why any coach would want this sewer of a franchise.

YOu don't have solid leadership so the end result is predicatable.

Only Phil Jax is big enough to take this on.

"Just here to collect his final paycheck", "the game has passed him by", "disciplinarians don't work in the NBa anymore", "He and Larry Brown should share a colostomy bag"

Can't wait to hear his roadside interviews

I just hope that people will like me

Please PJAX PLEASE Save us! His Ego and Zen-ness would want to fulfill his "Circle of Life" crap...and having the coaching cred and 11 rings don't hurt either

While retired Lakers and Bulls coach Phil Jackson has frequently been named as a possible successor to D'Antoni, sources close to retired Utah coach Jerry Sloan say he would be interested in the position. Sloan retired abruptly in February 2011, and was pursued by a number of teams during the summer before resisting the recruiting efforts. In an interview with SI.com in early January, he said he was considering a return.

I would LOVE Sloan - gritty defense, runs a mean pick and roll (meaning Lin would stay).

It'd be funny if the Knicks appealed to Sloan because it'd mean he could stick it to Deron.

Don't normally take too much stock in rumors like this, but Sam Amick is a pretty respected, no nonsense writer for Sports Illustrated.

I would buy season tickets. Just the opportunity to hear him tear someone a new a-hole for not falling into line. Guys like Pop and Sloan bleed basketball and won't give a damn about how many allstar appearances you've had or how much you make.

the fact that you can't even have an unrelated thread without some tool here bringing him up make me think that rational minds are few and far between. Bunch of emotionally weak, angst riddled people. I mean, how many times can you argue the same shyt

He's a lifer that's for sure. Just don't know how much gas he has in tank mentally to deal with this dysfunctional crap.

Aint happening too old

Only good if this remote chance occurred is Sloan will come in 1st week n challenge Amare and Melo to fist fight to kick their a_s
Stout would cry run to tell MDA then run to his mommy Melo don't back down they tussle and Sloan is fired in 1st week of hire!

By the way both Sloan n Melo get 1 blackeyes but Melo says he will play D from now on crediting Jerry Sloan

not 100%sure about that since he and Deron both said it had nothing to do with his resignation and, considering how long he spent with Utah, I can't see Deron forcing him out.

The best thing about Sloan (unlike our present coach) he actually teaches. The fundamentals they displayed over his tenure is just amazing.

The guy would tear Howard Eisley 3rd and 4th a-holes for turning the ball over. He'd do wonders with Lin for sure.

Need a coach that the Media can't touch that is Phil Jackson. The Knicks have to pretty much go,up against a team they don't play and that is the Media team.

I like him as a coach very tough on his players, I would like to see Melo's face the minute the Knicks hire him. LOL

evil is 100% right... and so are you.

Here's what I like about this move... its a huge F-YOU to the players. MDA is the soft, easy practice players coach. Well, the star player has quit so now you get the grind it out task master. I would 100000% endorse this move. Good fit for Lin also.

I would be happy to build a team around Lin, Chandler, Sloan and whoever else can hack it

yup

also, I think the fans would identify with his teams more. his style of play is similar to what the Knicks' brand is or at least was

Sloan was uber-respected by the media. Guy got Utah into the playoffs practically every year and he did it often with b-list players like Howard Eisley and Shannon Anderson (wow, I actually regret having to remember those names)
