To be fair, it's a different situation. Melo wanted to get that guaranteed contract before a lockout and a new CBA affected his potential contract. Melo did what was best for Melo, and I can't blame him. The Knicks were the ones to make themselves hostages.

And let me see Dwight sign that contract before we anoint him NJ's savior.

Its ironic that this isn't a problem anymore as the Knicks restocked their team successfully. Unfortunately the problem now isn't the supporting cast, but the main "star".

I know!! If MDA had any balls, he would bench Melo for the rest of the season we would go back to playing .800 ball and possibly get to the Finals and then, who knows what could happen. Maybe we win the whole effin thing!!

Pitty he has no balls! I wish he had the balls!

LOL! Your sarcasm is quite colorful. I think us Linsanity believers would be fine with a .580 record up to the point we were at 17-17, considering the schedule.

But of course, who cares about a winning record when you can admire the bright star of Carmelo. Those isolation plays are a beauty, especially the ones where he is double teamed, dribbles into the defense and bricks a jumpshot.

Bah, Linsanity was nothing compared to the brilliance of Melobury!

.580? That is reasonable :-)

Though I am not a Melo fan and never was (aside from his days at Syracuse), I will try to remember him as the perennial first team all-star who has the exact same career offensive number / OFFENSIV EFFICIENCY as Kobe Bryant.

However, I will always yearn for the Kobe intensity that Melo does not have at the defensive end. I will also close my eyes and dream that Phil Jackson can sail in here and right this chaotic ship.

Oh, I forgot! PJAX SUX - HE ALWAYS HAD THE GREAT PLAYERS! oh wait, those great players never won without him!! Oh, and when MJ was out, how did PJAX do? AH WHO CARES ABOUT THAT PJAX SUX! MELO SUX! STEVE KERR SUX! WOODSON SUX! MDA ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry, what started with sarcasm needed to end in sarcasm

There is no need to end some good old-fashined sarcasm!

Why stop? The party has already started. Its Melo Time with a lil bit of Stat sprinkled on top. Lin has obviously fallen off the map as the D-Leaguer he really is. Anybody can have an 8-1 (actually .890) stretch in a while, especially with a shorthanded Knicks team. Just ask MElo! Oh, wait!

But the point is, Melo is awesome. He is great. He simply is. Thats why I think everybody here is overreacting to this losing streak. Who needs wins when you have... wait for it... MELO!!! Don't understand all the booing by the fans. Do they actually expect a win? Just when you saw Melo the Great? Bah, can't have it both ways, guys! Its either Melo or wins. Amd who cares for the record! Bah!

Be thankful he chose to be traded back home.

You are so right!

BTW, who's Lin?

I'm not sure. Some crazy guy that got a bunch of bench warmers into some winning streak. I think Disney got the rights for the movie but the screenwriter is having trouble with a character they might just kill off the story. They say guy ia from Brooklyn.

I hate fiction!

What can I say? We need an escape from reality.

We should have known then. He held NY hostage and made them give up all their young talent for him or he would have gone to NJ. Proving that he only wanted the money. That is why DW wanted to wait.

Howard wants to win and is willing to do it the right way. Leader.

Nobody has bitched more than Howard. That said, I would love him in NY though he will be ripped apart just like all other stars who don't win here.

i brought this up early in the offseason. before we got chandler. consensus was that it would be too cold to treat amare like that.

I have mentioned this 30 times on this forum.

Do you still think it would be too cold?

Is that the Magic broke off all trade talks when Howard was rumored to have secretly met with the Nets???

I don't know, I know it doesn't matter, I just understand how the people always get to change rules to fit there view.

And key to all of this was Dolan spending his cap on Melo that allowed Deron to go for a discount, and while billups amnisty was not quite enough to sign Dwight, it was a big chunk. Not that I am complaining about chandler at all.

Just that you could have had a front line of Amare-Dwight-fields with Cp3 in the back court.

Little jimmy had to spend his money in the toy store. The russian is playing Dolan like a barbie doll.

I don't know what he sees in the Nets. Deron is a talented player but he's a chucker and he has a questionable attitude. I don't see why he would want to join a .300 team.

I wonder if Golden State would trade us Amare JR and TD for D Lee - I could see Mark Jackson buying into the Star of Amear and he might be happier playing west coast ball- D Lee has a long contract that they might not want forever- he would be really good next to Tyson and would run well w the team too-

If you are still following the team and reading sites like this, there is nothing, short of your own demise, that is going to throw you off this train.

I could get on board with that. I'm not completely against Amar'e just yet, but I do miss Lee. At least he knows how to box out. And the man can make the most on limited shot attempts.

Since the Bucks did the Ellis deal (acquistion) and will likely put a firm hold on the 8th spot, with also chance that
Dwight Howard goes to NJ Nets to join Deron W

These moves will finish off the NY Knickerbockers this season with barely any chance to make last spot

Stick a fork in Knickerbockers
unless they put TEAM back into team D'Antoni if they want to make a run

Howard...what a rebounding beast. He was a trainwreck from the free throw line and the Magic still beat the Heat. The Magic are rolling right now.

It would also be "cold" from Stoudemire to play without passion, without defensive urgency, sleepwalking and not being a leader.

Stat isn't a shadow of the driven man that signed with NY and most of it has nothing to do with his legs, but with where his heart is. The guy has gone through bad things this season, but does that really justifies his change?

From ESPN via Tommy Dee :

"Sources say the Lakers and even the Knicks are among the teams who have engaged with the Magic in recent days. Howard has told close friends that he doesn’t want to play for the Lakers, but deals have been discussed between the two teams with the shared hope that he would change his stance."

http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/7686147/orlando-magic-saying-trade-dwight-howard-absent-commitment-sources-say

Dwight Howard's public plea late Tuesday to remain in Orlando for the rest of the season has only served to anger the Magic and has instead pushed them closer than ever to trading their superstar center, according to league sources with knowledge of the situation.

Convinced that Howard, on the advice of his agent, is trying to manipulate the situation, the Magic are telling teams they will trade Howard before Thursday's 3 p.m. ET deadline if he does not commit to them beyond this season, league sources said.

While the Magic hope Howard will sign a five-year contract extension, they would settle for a commitment from him not to opt out of the final year of his contract. That would keep Howard in Orlando next season and give the Magic more time to pull off a trade for a star to play beside him, enhancing their chances of keeping him long term.

Tuesday night, Howard said he has talked with Magic owner Rich DeVos and other front-office executives about his desire to stay for the past two weeks.

But Howard would not commit to signing a long-term contract extension and could opt out of his deal to enter free agency in the summer.

The Magic believe Howard is legitimately torn about whether to leave or to stay in Orlando. But they also believe his comments Tuesday were a ploy to allow the New Jersey Nets, the team Howard requested a trade to in the preseason, to keep its players and assets, thereby enabling Howard to join a stronger Nets team this summer as a free agent, the sources said.

Upset and ready to move Howard unless he changes his stance, the Magic have essentially told other teams, most notably the Nets and the Los Angeles Lakers, to let the bidding begin.

If it had its druthers, New Jersey would indeed sign Howard as a free agent in July and team him with Brook Lopez, Marshon Brooks and the other solid role players they would lose this week in a trade for Howard.

Even so, sources say the Nets are hoping to trade for Howard this week to bring certainty and closure to their situation. While they feel strongly about their chances of landing him as a free agent, they realize that nothing is certain in free agency and that Dallas is a real threat to sign both Howard and Nets point guard Deron Williams.

The Lakers have been active in talks around the league, mainly about trading Pau Gasol and adding a point guard, but sources say they are still interested in Howard as well.

The Magic would also be interested in a Knicks package of Carmelo Anthony and Tyson Chandler, sources say, should the Knicks make such an offer. The Knicks have discussed the deal internally but have been given no indication that Howard would remain with them long term. That being the case, they have thus far refused the temptation to engage Orlando in trade talks.

I would only Do Amar'e and Tyson. I would hate to give up Tyson though only because of what a great team guy and defender he is. My favorite Knick by far since Spree.

And I would only do it if Dwight stayed past this year.
