DRose is judge, jury, and executioner on his team. He does everything. And he excels at each role. A very unique and special talent.

I saw him play in person when he was in Memphis. He looked like he could've played SF because he was so solid. Such a specimen then (and now). But he keeps adding layers to his game

He's a little more explosive, but he's all serious and all about winning. The kid is super impressive, a next level athlete.

DRose is a superstar. To put Melo or Amar'e in his class is insult, unfortunately.

NBA Elite goes:

1) Lebron
2) Rose
3) Kobe
4) Durant

and there's a big drop off after that.

Wade?????

Agreed but if he wants to be one of the all-time greats, he'll need to improve his outside shooting.

Dwight can barely create his own shot. Wade I think is the next level down. I mean, I think those guys are 5,6, but they aren't the same caliber as the top 4.

Wade won a ring - almost singlehandedly. And when the going gets tough in Miami, he is by far the more clutch scorer. You are SSSOOOO undervaluing him.

Wade is above Rose for sure, even with Rose's MVP.

Melo's seen as a superstar (occassionally by me) because the league needs a certain amount of stars post-Jordan to market. Melo has his own shoe, celebrity wife, jersey sales, endorsements... and he is clutch in basketball games. Being clutch with offense or stops is a superstar quality. Just not showing a lot of that lately in winning efforts. Penny was a superstar for a while, then fell off, therefore qualifying to be a Knick.

Amar'e was never a "superstar" IMHO. He's an All Star, and I always thought of him as an elite scoring forward, but he's not on a Melo superstar level, but happened to be in the top 3 in that contract year class. So I think with Amar'e it was New York could take him from All Star to Superstar. Again, not working so well right now. He has been through a lot.

Haha, it's not the only thing about being a superstar, hardware trumps, but yea, being clutch. But I think that's part of the Melo star power. ISO clutchiness that we've all (ha) come to love.

Superstar is overused, same as porn star. Accomplished adult actress, maybe. Superstars have the big endorsements... holler when you on a Jenna Jameson level.

Maybe? He is a odd character: this mythic shooter in the postseason. Dude has hardware. I'd vote for him in the Hall of Fame.

Panos wrote:...D Rose? The guy is an elite athlete. His handle is absolutely sick, ball on a string. His ability to stop and start and shake his defender is amazing. Fast? The man is a blur. And he plays both ends.

a bit too much for me.. I think rose has a good handle, not sick, he loses the ball a bit with his handle, but he is a explosive athlete, like a russel westbrook... I think he takes a lot of shots, and bad ones, but he plays hard, very hard.. guys on your team will always back you if you are playing hard for them, even with your flaws.

here is what I like about rose, although not a huge fan of his game..

He never went after chasing and brown nosing other star players like lebron. I respect that.

he backed his guy noah when the Dwight howard rumors surfaced... I respect that..

He sticks with his teamates, he is not chasing down other stars to play with him.. His guys know that, they have his back, they play hard for him, even when he is taking 30 shots and missing most of them..

Anyone who sits around and waits for the lottery to better themselves, either in real life or in sports, Is a Loser............... TKF

What seperates the stars from the superstars is the understanding and performing in "the moment". Stars and superstars put up big numbers. Superstars always perform during the "moment". Stars perform a few times during "the moment" but most times fall short. But they perform well in these moments just enough time sto make everyone think that they are superstars.

When a team is struggling in the third quarter-A superstar comes out in the third quarter like a banshee. He is aggressive on offense. He attempts to grab every rebound. He plays defense like his life depended on it. He never has a mental lapse. He may fail but regardless of the level of success, he is always the example. Everyone around him looks at the effort that Lebron or Kobe or Michael are giving during these third quarters that we have struggled with and they follow suit.........What do our players do?-Pout. Talk about all the problems we are having in the third quarter and how we need to fix them. Come out listless in the third quarter. Talk about how we need to play together. Then get caught out of position on defense. Talk about how winning teams need to give effort to win titles. Then loaf back on defense. Then after they game they act frustrated and suprised about why we aren't winning.

When they turn the ball over
-A superstar sprints back and is the first person back on d. They steal the ball back like Michael and Derrick. They block the shot from behind like Lebron and Durant. They get in position to draw the charge like Larry or Scottie. Or they just do their best to set the example like Magic or Patrick. They get the importance.......What do our players do?They lope back with their heads down. They jog. They pout. Sometimes they stop entirely. Sometimes they are the first player back but their fundamentals and concentration are so bad they are still out of position and give the uncontested basket anway.

Superstars despise being scored upon. Our guys don't seem to mind. Oh well, we'll just get them back on the other end. Superstars, even if they can't play defense, learn the fundamentals and rarely get caught out of position. Our guys are never in defensive position. Superstars are never a part of the problem. Our guys are not only part of the problem, they lead the problem. Superstars blame themselves for their teams failures. Our guys blame systems, and coaches, and fans and GM's and teammates. Superstars are the example in every facet of the game. Even if they stink in an area, they give it their all to improve. Our guys are content to be the same players in year 10 that they were in year 3.Superstars just get it done, our guys talk about what we are going to do once we ge tour act together.

From Allan, to Spree, to Marbury, to Amare to Carmelo we have had a lot of stars. Some great guys, some awful guys. But none are superstars. None of them have put us on their back for a sustained period of time and given supreme effort both on the court and off to lead. They all talked a great game but none of them have the ability to lead a team to a title. The fact that we gutted teams, broke the bank, and fired coaches to appease them is mind boggling to me. Can't wait until we do it again.

I just hope that people will like me
