I'm looking at this team making the playoffs and playing well once they get there. Everything leading up to that is about this team getting it's act together.

AT this point where they finish is less important to me. I want to see this team prepared and ready to play in the playoffs. One loss or win is meaningless in the overall scheme of things.

While your positivism is nice, it can blind you. You think a team in the 8th spot with two hungry young teams breathing on their necks can give itself the luxury of not caring for where they finish but be prepared for the playoffs? What freaking playoffs? This team makes them only if everyone below us sucks, and actually the Bucks and Cavs, yes those two teams, are playing miles better than us. One loss is meaningless? What about five in a row? What about 23 overall?

Wake up and smell the coffee, this team right will not make the playoffs. Not only the schedule is against us, but they seem to be in the same positive thinking you are, so much that they can't see they are playing horrible basketball and in no way are they even close to contending. They look complacent, like if their names alone deserved a win. They play and show they are so far away from being a team, its just sad.

Just wait until this team learns this complicated offense that me and you just can't see or understand. They are gonna smoke everyone!!!

I think it was the last week of the season, just before the playoffs and Mike and the Madd Dog were ripping the Knicks, saying we needed to blow the team up and start from scratch.

Van Gundy was on deck to get fired as soon as the Knicks got eliminated from the playoffs. Fans were calling for Spree and Houston to get traded becaue they couldn't play together. Ewing was old. Larry Johnson was shot. And Marcus Camby was soft. Then, it all came together in the playoffs. Let us hope....

That was a veteran Knicks team built around defense. That team finished 4 games over .500. Only way I can see the script repeating is, and quote me later if it happens, if NY barely makes it to the playoffs as the 8th, loses Melo to injury and somehow Linsanity kicks in and we run away with it.

But lets not get ahead of ourselves. Right now the Bucks and Cavs have everything going for them to overtake us. The teams we play from now on won't hand us any victory. Since we can't win on our own, we are in a terrible spot.

If only....another "Giants story". Look...the Knicks are gonna be in the 8th seed or not in at all. They will need to be "Giant" killers...like the Giants.

The Knicks are gonna pass the Celtics. BOOK IT!!! The C's are old and getting ready for an 8 game road trip with bac2bacs. I think they will drop some games and the Knicks will be able to pass them for the 7th seed.

Hahahaha really? BOOK IT? Positivism is one thing. Blindness is another. Celtics may be old, but know how to win games. All our youth and hype means a crap against them. Right now we need another Linsanity miracle to make this true. Unfortunately, Melo is back.

Has a fan base ever wanted a star player to not return, but go away so they enjoy their team again? I don't even think it was so evident with Marbury, maybe because without him we still were hopeless.

The team they weren't supposed to lose to, they end up losing to. We need to save all the big losses for the harder team but we lose to stupid Hornets and Nets.

It's about getting back to defense. This team won during Linsanity because MDA was able to put a defensive unit out there for long stretches. We haven't had that same unit for a while. I hope and pray Jared heals up and can come back so we can put our best defensive unit back out there and not allow teams 100+ pts a game. If they can do that this team has a chance to get back on the path to success. It's still a very shaky offense, but so long as this team can play tough D again they'll be able to win games. I still believe this can happen.

The 2 weeks of Linsanity brought me back to watching the Knicks every night and actually caring about NBA basketball. The only reason I tuned in to that first Lin Net game was because I thought D'Antoni would get fired if he lost. That was the most inspiring performance by a "scrub" that I had ever seen. Then I was teased with two of the most memorable weeks of basketball I can remember as a Knick fan. Inspiring team play that culiminated in WINS. 2 weeks later I am back to watching them underachieve.

Papabear Says

Well get ready to be done with them for the rest of the year.

I think the underachieving is more reminiscent of the 2011 Knicks. And 2010, 2009, 2008, 2007, 2006, 2005, 2004, 2003, 2002, and 2001.

That about sums it up

I don't know what we did to deserve this. I guess you have to try to find humor in the team's performance over the past decade.
