at what? Donut eating contests? Keeping orthopedists employed?

When Baron Davis is firing on all cylinders, he is an elite point guard. The problem is that only happens during a contract year or he's got something to prove (like that he's better than Lin) or when you can see Haley's Comet--and that assumes that he isn't broken

If Baron Davis consistently gave it his all, I think his he would be one of the more celebrated players in the NBA. With the Hornets, during the 2007 playoffs against the Mavs, and how he played with Blake Griffin leap to mind. That guy is AWESOME. The problem is those gaps in between all of that

Typical Day at Bermans house:

Wife - Morning Honey.
Berman - Morning sweet cheeks.
Wife - Would you like some eggs for breakfast?
Berman - What are you saying?
Wife - I made eggs, would you like some eggs?
Berman - Oh, I see what your doing. You want more children. All the subliminal fertility innuendo's I see! Now I know why we made love for the first time last night in a month!
Wife - No really, I just make eggs. Anyway, I reached menopause 3 or 4 years ago.
Long Silence...
Berman - Thanks, you have just inspired my latest article.
Wife - Don't forget to take your medicine.
Berman - You mean the stuff I took last night before...

I've seen this coming:

http://www.nypost.com/p/sports/knicks/two_point_game_PwlIKWFiFnmYe1G7wdOqEL?utm_medium=rss&utm_content=Knicks

Lin and Davis in the back court together. I don't think we've seen it during any games yet, but I've been thinking I bet MDA would play the two of them together.

Berman is a joke. He gets made fun of by other beat writers on twitter. He is very good at being provocative but there is rarely any substance behind the drama he tries to create.

I think the question is: would he play Baron WITH Lin.
Playing the two together is something I suggested after the Miami debacle.

Berman is beyond a joke- he is an absolute clown. Not content with making up a story for the article at the top of this thread, he has now used his made up trouble stirrings as proof to further todays article:

Knicks point guards Jeremy Lin and Baron Davis are forming a tight bond. So tight that coach Mike D’Antoni had them sharing the backcourt together with the first unit during yesterday’s scrimmages.

D’Antoni has called Lin and Davis a potential “two-headed monster,’’ but his experimenting yesterday raised eyebrows, especially amid rumblings Davis could supplant Lin as starting point guard in April.

What a lying, trouble making moron! The only person who is muttering about BD taking Lin's starting place is Berman himself- he then refers to his own fiction the next day, thus converting it into pretend fact- he is essentially using his own article from the prevous day as a confirming source!

And did you also see a few days ago he did ANOTHER Marbury article- yes ANOTHER! This time claiming marbury is doing in China, what Lin is doing in New Yok- what an absolute joke of a journalist- all he does is write about how great Marbury is (Newsflash- no one gives a S***!) and makes up lies to stir up trouble. F*** off!

Lin is worth too much money to the NBA. Right now Lin is the most marketable athlete in the world. Stern has been begging and clawing and fighting to get the NBA as a worldwide brand for a long long time. Lin does that for him. Lin could literally bring a billion new viewers for the NBA if he plays well over the life of his career. He could be worth a billion dollars in value in terms of marketing and merchandising for the NBA over his entire career. More importantly, Lin has high value to the female viewership, a group that Stern has always coveted (not because women love Lin or his looks or basketball, but because most women are slaves to trends and spend towards trends, and Lin is the new hot trend, he's like soccer after the movie Bend It Like Beckham for women, who all rushed to get their daughters into soccer or the huge run on adopting little Chinese girls because Angelina Jolie did it. Lin is a safe marketable trend to women because frankly the gaggle of wannabe part time drug dealing mediocre rap star thug life crybaby divas that the NBA marketed before weren't going to do it)

First, the networks and Dolan would freak out of MDA benched Lin, if he was not hurt. Lin is driving ratings and is literally a printing press for money for Dolan. Then Stern would not like it. Stern yells at Silver, who yells at Stu Jackson, who yells at the head of refs, who yells at his refs. Suddenly Davis shoots two free attempts total every eight games. Then every other team figures out you can hack, beat and punch Davis at will. Lin plays 20 minutes a game and shoots 36 free throw attempts a game. Message is clear, start Lin or you get no calls ever. None. Only Lin will get calls. The refs will grind you into the ground.

And even from a practical sense, Lin is going to be with the Knicks for the next couple of years for sure. Davis could be gone by the end of the season. Also he has a legacy of a malcontent contract year chucker who likes to get fat and dog it when he's pissed off. That's not who you kill a cash cow for.

Davis only starts if Lin is seriously hurt or Lin is embroiled in some type of major scandal ( I doubt he's hanging out in Colorado on his off days)

Good points.

I was thinking Dolan trades Lin in some conviluted starphuch scheme.

You know if Lin was Lin back a few months ago Cp3 would be a knick.

If Lin-Amare can net you Dwight do you do it? Not that Amare's value is super high right now.

Remember, DOlan "ain't right".......He don't think like other people!

I don't think so. Dolan may not know basketball, but he knows money and Lin is money. They must be making 10000000% profit on there investment with him right now.

I don't like the Idea of the 2 headed monster of Lin and Davis playing together. There job should be the keep each other fresh and keep MDA's system flowing for 48mins straight none stop. Playing them both together not only limits mins for Shump, Smith, Fields and doesn't keep them fresh.

Baron's gotta play well for a much longer stretch before I'd consider this. We have a lot of solid SGs. He's gotta show me that he's light years ahead of all of them first. Even then, I'd rather he play only 15 mpg and be healthy for the playoffs.

That's a good point. Baron is valuable as a backup for Lin, so that we will have strong Points at all times.

I can see them going together in some limited applications like when we ball against the Heat, but Baron is most valuable as a backup for Lin.

This is another great point. We are lucky to have the luxury of bringing Baron along slowly.

Let's not get it twisted, folks, he has only played a few games so far and the verdict is still out on the guy.

15 minutes is what he said he can handle right now, and he's happy with this.

I don't think Baron even wants to start. He knows he is in a good situation and he is happy. Berman is an idiot.

It's a young man's game and I think Baron is smart enough to realize that he's not a spring chicken and a young strong Lin is right for the major minutes and as Baron gets in better shape maybe he can get an extended run, but he's in a perfect spot to just slowly build up his stamina and really could extend his career with reduced minutes.

Wouldn't be surprised Davis starts by playoffs time. Vet leadership can take you far in playoffs. It can only help Lin get better while taking cue from Baron.

Berman's article is a joke.

He writes for the NY Post, a company owned by Fox News and everyone knows the crap that comes out of that crap family of news outlets.
