Jared Jeffries: A+, doing everything you want from him; the best glue guy in the league.

Glue is what dead horses are for. A+ and JJ should not be in the same sentence. Bad form.

He's a professional shooter. Congrats on hitting 3's. When Jorts is back, say goodbye.

Obviously over the top, but giving MDA love on this board is a rare and precious commodity that should be highlighted at all costs.

Totally ignoring Bibby gets you extra credit.

When Jorts is back Novak is gone? Are you high?!!

So who's time is Jorts going to take out beyond the arc mr. Wooden? Stat's? Maybe in your inestimable wisdom he's going to take all those threes that JJ's been hoisting up? Or is your genius telling you that getting Jorts burn at SG is the way to go.
Please enlighten me, oh jedi of the hardwood.

Jorts brings defense which Novak does not. However, as far as shooting goes - it's not even close. Novak has been deadly and stretches the defense which is sorely needed. Jorts will nowhere close to that respect.

Bottom line; if a player demonstrates valuable use, the coach must find minutes for them. Stat might start losing minutes as crazy as that sounds.

JJ and Novak have been playing very well. At his point, even when healthy, Jorts is the odd man out. He'll have to *earn* his way back into the rotation. Either that or another front-court player will get injured and he'll be back in the rotation.

You could grade based on some absolute standard for each position or could adjust grades relative to what could reasonably have been expected from each player. I'll give both types of grades below.
Lin: adjusted - A+; unadjusted - A-
Fields: adjusted - B; unadjusted - B-
Carmelo: adjusted - C-; unadjusted - B-
Amare: adjusted - D-; unadjusted - C
Chandler: adjusted - A+; unadjusted - A+

I think this fair. I would add-

Jeffries: Adjusted - A; Unadjusted- B
Novak: Adjusted - A; Unadjusted B-
JR Smith: Adjusted A+; Unadjusted A-

You want to get upset and be sarcastic then go ahead but anyone who thinks at this point when Jorts comes back that Novak is going to get benched, well you just don't know basketball. Sorry but its just ignorant on your part.

I think that could be one of the more interesting things to watch for in the second half: If STAT keeps playing poorly, will MDA have the guts/green light from above to cut his minutes, especially if Jorts is playing well.

As far as I'm concerned, if STAT is no longer a dominant offensive player, we are better off with a power forward who plays good defense and rebounds. I'll sacrifice a few points, because all it will mean is more chances for Melo, Chandler, Lin and others.

Nothing against Amar'e, but business is business.

I hope he bounces back strong, but if not, and if MDA has other good options (Jeffries, Jorts), then something has to be done.

Business is business but what do we do with his contract? It becomes the worst contract in the history of all sports if your scenario plays out!!

Then we just trade him for Lebron and Norris Cole

Yes, I'm very upset. Probably because I've always admired "so there" and "just because" arguments. Very tough to have an opposing viewpoint to "you're just stupid".

Relax, dude, if you'd bother to actually read the posts, I wasn't the one posting in bold and asking about DWI.

I ask questions and with all your wisdom, you say nothing. I guess I'm not entitled to an opinion. I guess we can wait and see.

Considering that the Knicks sit in playoff contention with one $100 million guy declining and another injured and the fact that the team is sixth in defensive efficiency, Mike D. shouldn't get anything less than an A. He's found a starting point guard for his team when it was in disarray (The fact that Lin can play can partly be credited toward Mike's offensive system, which has a reputation for inflating point guard play.), and he's gotten the most out of scrap-heap players like Steve Novak. D'Antoni should get credit for the good things just like he should take some blame for the bad things.

I'm saying, I don't care how awesome Novak's been shooting, you gotta try to give Jorts at least a few minutes. He showed flashes of brilliance early this season and we surely could use his size. Plus he'll make it rain.

But I don't know who to take minutes away from!

It depends. If Jorts can hit 40% of his threes as opposed to 35 or get hot, he could take Novak's minutes away because he rebounds and plays defense. If he's great defensively, he could take some of Jeffries minutes away. Jorts could also play when Chandler gets in foul trouble.

Well I think the minutes will go to whomever is playing well and real time mismatches etc...

Bottom line - if your playing well, you'll get minutes.

The most likely scenario to my brain would be the Chandler minutes. Jeffries is so sticky right now, gluing everyone, I want him out there as much as possible; and if Novak is slaughtering basketballs from behind the TREY LINE, I don't want him sitting for Jorts.

But when Tyson gets tired or in some foul trouble, you throw Jorts out there to BANG AND RAIN!
